Im trying to think of who these players with currency might be which the club would be willing to trade?

Like Breust (unlikely)
Jack Gunston (unlikely and we wouldn't get what we want)
Cyril Rioli (who knows if he even wants to play on)
Izaak Smith (unlikely, our only genuine winger)

Guys like Hardwick, Burton, Sicily untouchable.
Really don't have much to offer.

If Birchall came back and showed a bit, someone might be keen to throw a 3rd round pick our way. Otherwise, agreed, we don't have much decent that we don't really need...

I hope we can build a base from around 6 draftees this year as a minimum.

Does this imply Puopolo, Duryea and Burgoyne are in our top 25% highest earning players?

Would be very surprised if that's the case but I thought a player's a RFA if they've been on the list 8 or 9 years and in the top 25% highest paid players at the club.

It's only in the year they come out of contract, so front ended deals can lead to players being FA and back ended deals or one year deals can lead to RFA depending on where everyone else is that year

Marc Pittonet 4 Non-Free Agent - good VFL ruck, might be servicable at AFL level, but is far behind McEvoy or Ceglar in ability
Paul Puopolo 8 Restricted Free Agent - quality small pressure forward who if he lacks pressure, makes up for it with more goals, hope he goes on
Ricky Henderson 2 Non-Free Agent - has held up the wing pretty damn well since coming over from the crows, might get another year or so out of him
Ryan Schoenmakers 10 Unrestricted Free Agent - GONE, no point in keeping him, best case scenario he is back up
Shaun Burgoyne 9 Restricted Free Agent - depends on the last half of the year
Taylor Duryea 9 Restricted Free Agent - GONE, trade? he might be worth a rd 5 pick

Langford + TOB are the only other players i would drop, end their contracts a year early and pay them out

so all up i personally would drop: Whitecross, Jiath, Willsmore, O'Rourke, Lovell, Heatherley, Schoenmakers, Miles, TOB, Langford and Vickery and i wouldnt feel any regret... thats 11 changes (1 already gone, 2 rookies gone, 8 listed players gone) Duryea/Brand with a warning or trade for a player or pick??? wouldnt be sad to see either of them leave

that leaves us with a team of
B: Stratton, Frawley, Hardwick
HB: Sicily, Mirra*, Burgoyne

C: Henderson, Mitchell, Smith
R: McEvoy, O'Meara, Howe

HF: Burton, Gunstan, Rioli
F: Breust, Roughead, Puopolo

INT: Birchall?, Shiels, Impey, Morrison

Worpel, Glass*, Cousins*, Pittonet, Lewis, Moore, Ross, Nash*, Hanrahan*, Jones*

upgrade Mirra + 2 other rookies

26 + 3 rookies and recruit 9 AFL listed players from the draft and recruit 5 rookies.... if you keep Duryea and Brand it will only be 7 AFL listed spots and 5 rookies

In 2019 there will be 14x over 28 year olds, finding replacements has been our biggest failing of the last 3-4 years and its not like it hasnt been commented on here, just ignored by the people in charge.

can our admins and list managers grow some balls and make the tough calls that we need? man up...

Bailey Smith most likely gone by our 1st pick but looks great. I think Riley Collier Dawkins and Jack Bytel will be around our picks.

In the 2nd round I'm hoping for a local lad in Zane Barzen 194cm forward/midfielder that has good kicking skills just injured earlier this year. Then we pick up Mosquito.

But good points nevertheless.
I’d still keep Brand, we have no full back cover if Frawley gets injured.
I think it’s time to choose between O’Brien and Schoenmakers as well , it’s time one of them got a chance to ply their trade elsewhere.
I doubt we’d go for 8 senior changes in one foul swoop but willsmore, miles, Whitecross and O’Brien/Schoenmakers could be gonski.
Lovell and O’Rourke can stay as we’re spending a fair bit of time/resources on them to develop as mids for the future.
Unless we grab Josh Kelly, then they can all GAGF!!!
