They should split pick 1 with GWS for 5 and 7. Then use one to draft Edwards or Curtin and the other to chase Naughton, English or Georgiades.

They can use their F2 to chase another AFL standard player.

Their pick 19 + two picks in the 30s is ideal to swap for GCs pick and give them points. That can move them up for Tholstrup.

They have a lot to work with before relying on a priority pick.
they wont get anything this year

they are where we were in 2021 atm and we didnt get anything then

lets see what we get this year tho, we should be going to the afl and asking for a first round pp (assuming we dont win more than 5 games this year) or asking for free access to nga tassie kids (im not sure if mckercher is nga but sanders should be)

not that i really care about them but they should be bold and be open to offers on:
  • Darling
  • Allen
  • Barass
  • Kelly

All 4 would still attract decent capital and allow them go heavily into this year's and next year's draft.

We have to push hard for 1st round PP.

We should be using Rowell and Anderson as proof that it can assist a team to rise up the ladder.

WCE is another year away from any help. The AFL now have their hands tied to help the Eagles after the crappy support we got after 3 terrible years of footy.

I just can't see us getting a first round priority pick.

Best case is access to an NGA player.
More realistic is another F2 to trade or a sneaky boost on McKay compo.

If we only win 1or 2 games we have to get a first round PP pick is that pick 3 or pick 11 🤷 and I think we will get 2 NPG kids before draft also

I only see first round PP in two circumstances;
  • we have an experienced player lined up to trade it for
  • we are trading McKay compo + PP + Port pick for pick 1. At which point they are sneakily giving WC help through us.

I don't think we should have gotten more than we did and I don't think West Coast should get a priority pick. At most they should get what we got, future 2nds and 3rds they have to trade to help them bring in senior talent. Our problems and theirs are a matter of total system breakdown that just can't be addressed with top end drafting. In our case the real remedy was bringing in Clarkson, Viney and co. to finally fix the football department and coaching system, and the concessions were geared towards helping them bring in more senior players to get that system going. Whatever West Coast get, it needs to be something that can help them fix their broken strength and conditioning system and maybe help them bring in some more durable players. I don't know what that would look like but it doesn't have to look like extra picks in the first round.

I think the Gold Coast concessions made sense for them, even if they were a little bit too generous, because they couldn't stop bleeding first round picks. That's not a problem for us or West Coast, we've only lost one and we got a perfect replacement for him.

Suns received - pick 1, 11, 19 & 20.

We have been worse than the Suns when they received the above.

The club need to be applying and going as hard as it can.

It's going to be, and has been, pretty easy for the AFL to argue that we've been bad for different reasons and the concessions we've each gotten have suited those specific situations. They're already working, it's not measurable in wins but the turnaround has been enormous. We're just a regular bad side now, not one of the worst ever.

Not only do we not need an extra top 3 draft pick on top of the one we're getting this year, it might actually tarnish whatever we do in the coming years if we get such a freebie. Unless it's a mathematically determined FA compensation pick, we're just going to have an unfair advantage over other teams once we move up the ladder. Concentration of first round talent is not an issue for us.

Why should Sanders be?

Your option 2 would have us end up with picks 1 and 2 but giving picks 3, 4, and 18-ish to West Coast. That looks like a win-win trade. We started with 4 first-round picks and end with 1 and 2 (win) and West Coast started with pick 1 and ended with 3, 4 and 18 (win).

Yep any indigenous or multi cultural heritage (eg mitch owens Japanese)

If Sanders has multi-cultural heritage through his mother (which I have no idea whether that's the case), then him qualifying for a program, which is designed to increase the opportunities for young people to learn about and play the game of Australian Rules football, would be right up there with Nick Blakey and the Sydney academy rort. As I understand it, Sanders' father is a significant figure in Tasmanian football.

They would be crazy to trade Allen. Be like us trading Larkey for draft capital.
