Draft Cuzz in 2009

Interesting to notice Cousins apologised to everyone except to the WCE, to the supporters yes but to the club NO!!

Eagles won't take him back and I'm pretty sure Woosha & Nesbitt etc...are glad to see the back of him.

If track record is to go by Cuzz will stuff up again some time in the near future, I don't feel sorry for him but I do feel sorry for the current playing group as well as our great past players as their reputations have been damaged in all this saga.

Ahh... I'm sick and tired of all the blame for the mess we are in being directed at Ben Cousins. Chick, Kerr, Fletcher, Gardnier etc have all contributed in some way to our reputation. The current /past playing group are not all angels. Nisbitt, Worsfold and the rest of management should have step in a lot sooner. Also there is the guy who used to be a captain, would we have been better off with someone who was keen to lead the group or try to change/challenge the culture.

I am not saying that Ben Cousins is innocent, he deserve the criticism he is getting. But to put all the trouble we have been in down to a drug addict who has pretty much destroy his football career, well I find that pretty gutless. Secondly, we will not have change the culture and the same incidents will keep on popping up.

This terrible year is not down to Ben Cousins saying yes to drugs. Its down to fact that every level of club failed to recognize the warning signs, until it was far too late. The worse thing we could do is just make Cousins the scapegoat for all this crap and think everything is fine at the club.

He's got 3-4 years in him. He is a machine. You can just put him in the forward pocket and he'll kick you 30-40 goals a year. Look at harvery even with ALL his soft tissue injuries is still playing at 36/37. Cousins is 10 times the athlethe harvey is.

Harvey is a very different beast to compare to Cousins.

He sure is! Cousins has the ability to keep running all day while Harvey cant. Though you cant really compare to the two at this stage anymore seeing Harvey is like 34 and Cousins 29.

Are you talking bout Robert Harvey because, Yes, he can.

Cousins Id say is more like Crawford.

Agree with that Cousins is a great athlete-he has at least 5 yrs left up to 7.

Id like to see him back at WC,but only because he may find it difficult after 12yrs at WC to sync the same way with anther club the way did with them.

I doubt that will happen tho'.

Heard that Gerard Wheately, some radio sports guy said, he doubted Cousins will want to play again after this ban. Who is Wheately? have no idea, but I hope Cuzz goes on to play in 2009 with whatever club he wants.

Port Power want him, Mark Williams has said as much so he will be picked up in 2009 if HE wants it...thats a big IF.
Looked like he wanted to get back for season 2008.

Loves his footy.

no more cousins' he trashed our club and we cant forget that, my loyalty is to the club not just one player, we are already the laughing stock of the afl and think what would happen if we took him back. its time to move on to the new era which i believe is going to be pretty damn exciting.

maybe get rid of loser boy nisbett and a few others on the west coast board and we'll be right.

Agree....whatever the ins and outs are, he has been central to too many of our (and by our I mean the club themselves) misdoings over the last few years.

Gotta say that I was very disappointed to hear Ben apologise to almost the whole world, with the glaring exception of the WCE. Just didn`t sit right with me.

I think that he and our club have done their dash, why risk another debacle by drafting him, even if it was possible. Enough already.

Still love him to bits though.

Willow that is probably the most ignorant thing you could say on that topic - Everyone knows Harvey is one of the, if not the, best runner in the history of the game...

I dont understand people saying he should head off to Vic? The drugs are just as prominent over there as they are in WA. SA would be the best bet, but even so, if he's not ready to get better he'll find trouble here.

I would love to see Ben wear nothing else but a WCE jumper for the rest of his AFL career.

Sadly, its probably not gonna happen.

Gotta admit I wasnt all that happy with that either

We'd have to have rocks in our heads to consider drafting Cousins back again. The guy has been a cancer for our club and we've been looking stupid all year because of it. Let him be someone else's problem now and let's move on. We have an exciting year coming up and it'll be interesting to see how we go. I think we should do alright.:thumbsu:

There is no way Harvey could run all day. His Hammys just wont allow him to do it.
Funny, I distinctly remember watching him run all day at Subi in Round 12 last season. Thirty five years old, 350 games and he made our midfield look slow. It was embarrassing to watch someone of his age carve them up. He ran around at will, and no-one from our team was able to stop him.

I stayed behind to clap him off the field, he is truely amazing. :thumbsu:

ha ha ha - Yeah there are No drugs in SA

The media wouldn't allow it.
who gives a **** what the media want.

im 50/50 but i reckon the club should keep him on the list for next season, obviousbly on extended leave and with no permission to come to the club.

see how he goes in 2008, and that gives us first crack to get him in 2009....

if we're in anyway unsure as to whether we should keep him for 2009, then we delist him or trade him to another club.

I will feel sick to the core if Ben ever plays for another club! But having said that, I don't think he will ever play for this club again. I would have him back tomorrow - he is the greatest ever Eagle. But the club is too sh$t scared of the sanctions hanging over their heads from the AFL. What hypocrites the AFL will show themselves to be if they allow him to play for another club in 2009.

I guess it is something to do with his ******** **** tests.

* = removed due to legal reasons
This is a completely different matter.

<injunction> happened. I don't deny it did. However any positive tests are dealt with by the AFL in it's own way. Do we all like the way it is dealt with? That's a different discussion.

There are apparently 30ish players that have tested positive twice, average that out and you have nearly two per club. For you to single out one because a woman stole medical records and sold them is unfair.

Ben was moved on because of the very, very long history of repeated behaviours that reflected badly on West Coast and have tarnished their brand.
