I wonder who does have a crack at those Richmond late 1st rounders. In my view:

Prime Candidates
Essendon - Already expressed an interest to trade back in and have 2 1sts. Either would be great for Richmond.
Bulldogs - They tried to get 13 and would back their 1st pick next year to be >10.
Hawthorn - They have Carltons F1 which they'd expect to be >10 and tried to get 13.

Outside Chance
Geelong - They could back their 1st pick next year to be >10 but there's risk there and might want flexibility for trades
St Kilda - A bit risky. Likely trading a 2025 top 10 pick for pick 20+. They already have 7&8. Don't need to be greedy.
Adelaide - Might try as they only have 1 early pick this year but too risky for me.
Kangaroos - There is talk of them wanting a 2nd pick but F1 is too high for Richmond's picks. Reckon they try GWS.

Very Unlikely
Goldcoast & Brisbane - Need F1s for academy bids next year
Fremantle & Westcoast - Will be saving picks for a possible Warner trade
GWS & Sydney - Already have multiple picks late in the 1st round

Impossible
Carlton, Collingwood, Port Adelaide, Melbourne - Don't have F1s

I think Richmond won't have issues getting F1 straight swaps for 18 and 20 providing the right players are there. 22/23 starts to become a bit of a stretch. They may end up trading the 1st 2 and using the other 2. Again it depends who is there.

Your last paragraph sums it up. It's about who is there and individual club ratings.

I think they'd get a future first for any of their picks - more for the earlier ones. In a draft like this, there will be a player left at 24 that a club like Cats views as the equivalent of a normal top 12 pick. They won't hesitate to make an offer. It's how they got Holmes.

Another interesting point to note is that anyone offering F1 for Richmond's picks probably goes to GWS first. Not sure how open they are to trading but they do have 3 picks close together. North F1, Essendon F1, Melbourne F1 would all be mighty tempting if offered (in that order).
The other interesting thing is at what point does a pick become worth 'just" a future first - obviously it depends on whose future first were talking about, but don't be surprised if a pick or two is sold for a heap.

Way too much common sense & logic there. Too well thought out for BF.

Geelong will 100% use our F1 to trade back in if we rate someone highly (a la Max Holmes 2020- which funnily enough was with Richmond who got Tom Brown the following year, so win win there). Realistically for us, it would be for one of your early 20s picks (after bids).

I actually don't think that's realistic. I don't think they'll sell anything earlier than that unless they get a really good offer. And I don't think your pick will cut it at that point unless you add to it.

Good luck with that. There will probably be multiple clubs trying to do the same thing with their F1’s and your F1 may be considered the least valuable of the lot.

Won't be Adelaide as we don't have the list spots.

Will be pick 4 midfielder
Welsh father & son
Keane rookie upgrade

Richmond has 27 on the main list and seven on the rookie list currently. Total list spots is 44, with a minimum of 36 on the primary list and a maximum of eight on the rookie list.

Mate will go on the rookie list (taking it to the full amount of eight) and have nine list spots available for the eight picks in the National draft.

Richmond can’t take more picks into the draft than list spots, so Richmond would have had to trade some picks into the future before tomorrow pick trading deadline (RFC had to do it in 2021 and traded with Collingwood for Pennies on the dollar) if it could only take seven selections.

My bet is Richmond take 6-7 picks on draft night, trade at least one into 2025 and promote someone from the rookie list and either take someone in the rookie draft or as an SSP.
Richmond don't have to trade any picks before the draft. There are currently 8 spots available with 9 senior spots available plus an extra rookie. Will have trade at least one pick during the draft as can only pick a maximum of 7 players with the tigers committed to picking up Colina as a rookie.

For both 20,23,
So Geelongs F1,38 for 20,23.
Austin Powers No GIF

May as well just use the picks.

aaahhh, Now the Tigers fans are realising the value of their picks in 20's
No matter how many hours, days, weeks you spend (and it's been a lot of time) trying you have zero impact on the value of our picks champ. Thought I might try save you some angst 🙂

Not in a million years. That’s a putrid deal for Richmond.

Both of those Geelong picks are worth less than the two Richmond picks!

Teams probably won’t become interested in Geelong’s F1 until probably the late 20’s at best.

A: This draft is likely to be deeper than that one, and
B: It’s also looking like it will be more compromised

So that deal might be like picks 28 and 38 for 20 and 23! Horrific.
