I dont get the North need a KPP train of thought.

FOS I think ends up a half forward or half back so could slot in well with the current group. I suspect he doesnt become a fulltime mid (and North dont need him to be). While hes great at swooping on loose balls he just doesnt look natural around stoppages.

That said, if North pick him I hope its because thats who they want, not because they are afraid to be seen as reaching for Tauru.

Nobody remembers that Bontompelli was a slight reach at pick 4 but everyone remembers the Saints blowing pick 3 on Billings (even though he was concencus top 3 and most clubs would have picked him there).

Reaching or not reaching gets forgotten pretty quick.

He will play off a wing imo.

Probably start at half back like we did with Sheezel and McKercher.

Everything points to him being #1 on our board.

I.E - If he's available we are keeping pick 2 and selecting him.

If Richmond pick FOS at #1, we'd trade back for Tauru or Draper.

That's what I made of that conversation.

Yep. Wing too.

It seems increasingly likely that Lalor, Tauru, Jagga, FOS and then one of Draper/Langford will be the top 5.

Smillie at 6 with the slider of Draper/Langford to fall to St Kilda at 7.

Excluding Ashcroft of course.

Rubbish, you got 1 extra 1st (pick 19) in 2023, and 2 extra 1sts (19 & 20) in 2024. The 2024 picks were subject to review but could be traded last draft which is exactly what you did and you ended up with 5 picks in the 1st round in 2023 before we were able to use our 2nd round, normally pick 19, at pick 30.
So don't bleat about those PPs being worth nothing!
And don't forget, every PP you got disadvantaged 17 other clubs

Only 1 team has received a PP lower than 15 since the current system of begging was introduced in 2012 and that was GC in 2019 when they got Pick 1 and took Rowell.
I agree the FS (and academy) bidding system has been a rort but with 10,000 points being taken out of the DVI from next season, clubs will have to cough up closer to the draft value using higher picks which will hopefully lead to a less compromised draft

Oh, that's what it is, you're still salty!

FOS just looks like McCluggage to me....and he's a super player. Want!

Twomey's phantom draft is the only one I pay attention to. That should be out soon.
That is the only information from a "draft expert" that I actually pay attention to as well. On the night he will have received intel from list managers on who they want to select because everything has likely already been planned out accordingly.

North are taking FOS. Tahru will slide a bit he's just outside the top bit, it's why North have to be silly to take him at 2. Melbourne need mids. Still a mid is there for St Kilda at 7. Pick 8 is where it gets interesting, is Norths f1 worth 8, that's the question. Would the GWS package in the late first round be more attractive this year? Or do the Saints take a Lindsay or someone like that at 8. Feel that pick 8 is where the draft gets interesting, the rest above basically are different variations on the midfielders.

Won’t need to wait for draft night. There will be meltdowns this afternoon after Twomey’s phantom is revealed. Particularly when he doesn’t have Tauru to North at .

I'm just waiting for the WC melts, trading from 3 this year for Baker and whatever seems beyond silly. I still don't get that trade and no amount of 'we had to do it' makes it better

Agree pick 8 is the first choice of the next tier which could go in a multitude of ways.

I would be very shocked if Tauru fell to 7 though, just don’t see North passing on him let alone Melbourne.

Saints want to move into this draft not out of it so a f1 for 8 just won’t happen

They are a big club though. They make lots of money......I know they keep that stuff to themselves, but I have heard the odd whisper.

Could be a way for you to get into the top 2 in a draft though. You aren't finishing bottom 2 whilst Lyon is in charge. It has to be looked at.

He's the last thing Melbourne need at 5, and North are not passing on FOS. If North are offered two arms and a leg from the Crows to move to 2, and swap to 4, maybe but why would they. People have this weird thing that North's midfield is set, it's not. They can trade in to get a tall, maybe Trainor in the teens.

Just don't see the point for St Kilda they still won't be fantastic next year so that's blowing a lets say top 6-7 pick just to move up. Is there THAT much difference between a FOS and lets say for arguments sake Harvey Langford or Josh Smillie? Saints take one of those and then look at pick 8 to trade around or take the selection.

He means a top 3 pick next year and yes, the difference could be significant.

Lot of stressed posters
North Melbourne and Richmond posters shouldn't be stressed. They've brought in or will bring in that many top prospects over this and the preceding two drafts that they can't really be hurt long term with moves made this week.

Saints, Blues and Dees supporters should also be relatively relaxed. Saints and Dees will both walk away with great talents and Blues have a rare chance to add that Jelwood/Naicos/Washcroft elite midfielder that walks into a mature side.

Essendon supporters will be very keen move a future first and get one of the above clubs picks. Kako is a great talent in space of need but not being able to get above the bid hurts. Adding two elite first round talents this year goes a long way for them because most of their previous first rounders haven't kicked on yet.

Not convinced the difference is that much (and I love FOS), St Kilda really should be taking their first pick, fielding offers for pick 8, and they might just take the pick anyway. The GWS package would be very tempting if it's offered though. Could literally end with lets say Armstrong, Hotton and a slider, plus keep their f1 next year.

North just take FOS.

May 33 next year
McDonald 32
Lever 29

Fritsch is 28 and plays taller than he is.

And don’t give me this development crap for Jefferson. First round draft pick hasn’t debut in 2 seasons.

They need a tall and Tauru can develop at either end before settling him down into a permanent role.

The notion they DONT need a tall doesn’t have a strong argument. Yes they need mids. But they have 2 picks, which is why the Tauru link is there at 5.

I'm more stressed that's we'll take someone off the board at our first rounders like we've done over and over again under Beetson. We just flat out suck with first rounders.

I think you should come with Parker to North mate.....you get it......probably easier to change your team than your username. Get on board. You are ready!

Have you seen how bad their midfield is? They may take one, it won't be at pick 5. Pick 9 maybe. Jefferson is developing fine, he isn't the first tall to have a couple of years to develop and work on their game. He will play next year in all likelhood.
