I wonder what the shortest period of time for a team to record a 3rd draw is? I'd imagine if GWS get another draw in the next year they would probably take that record.
Here are some interesting examples of clubs involved in a number of draws in a short space of time:
Carlton were involved in quite a run of draws in the years around World War 1. The Blues drew against South in Round 2 1913, Collingwood in Round 1 1914, the Swans again in Round 4 1914 and Fitzroy in Round 1 1915. The Blues repeated the drawn Round 1 result against the Lions in 1917. Fitzroy themselves drew a match in Round 3 1916 against Collingwood, making it three years of successive draws for the Lions.
Having not drawn since 1922, St Kilda developed a taste for tying matches in World War 2. The Saints drew against North Melbourne in Round 2 1943, Essendon in Round 6 1944 and Hawthorn in Round 15 1944.
Carlton drew 4 matches in 3 years in the early 1950s. The Blues played stalemates against the Saints in Round 16 1950, the Lions in Round 16 1951, the Demons in Round 12 1952 and the Swans in Round 14 of the same year.
The Geelong team of the early 1960s must have tested their supporters nerves. The Cats drew against Richmond in Round 9 1960, North Melbourne in Round 8 1961, against Carlton in the 1962 Preliminary Final (the Blues winning the controversial replay by 5 points), against their GF opponents Hawthorn in Round 7 1963 and a Round 15 1964 match between the premiers of 1962 & 1963 resulted in a draw between Essendon and Geelong.
Brisbane, if counting the records of the Bears and Lions together, drew in Round 10 1996 against Geelong, Round 21 1997 against Port Adelaide and again against Port Adelaide in Round 12 1998, a rare example of teams drawing in successive meetings.
St Kilda had another run of draws in the early 2010s. The Saints drew against Hawthorn in Round 17 2010, drew that year's Grand Final against Collingwood only to be smashed by the Magpies in the replay, and again drew in Round 2 1911 against the Richmond Tigers.
