Boak will be Port Adelaide next captain, and our first Brownlow Medalist.

He is in for a fairly super year one would expect, and would be an interesting pickup at the right price in either DT or SC.

Im wondering how Mitch Banner is going at the moment? Will the departures of the Burgoynes and the injured Rodan open a spot for him in the mids? Will he debut in round 1, later in the year or at all in 2010?
I remember watching some videos on him last year and he was an absolute ball magnet, perfect for DT from what i saw. Any information would be much appreciated.:thumbsu:

Wade Thompson @ $140,000 is a must. We will be lacking the brotherhood feel Choco loves, Marlon (if he had an injury free preseason) would dominate on a wing, Wade will come in to a Half Forward/Centerman role, bounce around the ground similar to D-Rod and apply that much defensive pressure it will not be funny! the only other Borthers we have are, Pearce who costs a fortune, D Motlop and Krakour who will not be cheap again!

So one of Marlon or Wade will play more games than they miss this year, with the injury set backs Marlon has suffered, Wade will be my go!

Also, Robbie Gray, Jackson Trengove and Matthew Lobbe will be great selections this year!

I doubt Thompson will play any significant part this year, may play 2 or 3 games if there's a lot of injuries.

We have as much of an idea as you do. He had a great year in the SANFL but the club hasn't said much about him at all.

What I do know is that they will look to give J.Trengove some games (Key back, won't rack up the points) Lobbe (Ruck, will rack up the points) and Gray is probably a good pick, should average in the 90s this year.

Thanx anyway. Im already considering both Lobbe and Gray for my team at the moment, with both being in my plan team. I can see a bit of value on both of them especially Lobbe if he manages to play a substantial amount of games.

Just a few questions regarding Salopek. In 2008 and the start of 2009 he scored really well and averaged high, what position did he play during this time? And what position do you expect him to play for 2010?

You live in Adelaide and don't know who Salopek is?

He played in the middle in 2008 and was moved into the backlines in 2009 (Which didn't turn out so well) should see him return to the midfield this year, hopefully. (He's training with the other mids.)

There are much better options out there though.

Of course I know who Salopek is lol, just wanted to know when he was playing middle and when he was playing across the HB line. Cheers for the help though, if he wasnt so injury prone he would be a lock.

In AFL terms it didn't work out well, but in Dream Team terms he was going even better than he did in the midfield up until his injury.

If he's listed as a defender, I disagree. His lack of form towards the end of the year means he'll be very undervalued, assuming he gets back to form this year which I think he will. Not many backs with an 85 average last year have the potential to average 100 like Salopek does. The only downside is his durability.

Nah hes a Mid only this year.

Just because m0nty says he's only a mid on Fanfooty, doesn't mean that'll necessarily be the case. Unless the actual VS things have come out and I'm not aware of them yet.

No, it was in the prospectus which has all the positions for 2010.

Fair enough. That's ridiculous though, he spent the whole year playing as a half back flanker. Were Jack Trengove, Cunnington etc. still forwards in the Prospectus?

Nah mate there are hardly any forward rookies now that look like getting lots of games. Trengove, Cunnington and Bastinac were all mid only. Deledio is mid only aswell. Not many other real surprises, Goddard stayed a back though which is good.

ok i am really really considering matty broadbent next year but i am not that keen on his job security so i thought wat better place to come to then the port adelaide board. I read the article about brogan and he said

Guys like Hamish Hartlett, Travis Boak and Matty Broadbent will play more on the ball, so there are a lot of new faces.

this was very encouraging but i am just wondering if he will be in the best 22 because of people don't hav him in there.

I read a training report lately that mentioned Gray was only walking laps. Has he picked up some kind of an injury? Or just a lighter session?

Im also pretty interested in Broadbent, at a very low price, could be a big mover. Waspy you mentioned that three spots have been vacated, who do you see taking the other two (if BB takes one)? Also if Broadbent is the rebounding HBF you've been waiting for, what does that mean for Krak?

Not sure about Gray. Historically he is an injury risk (dodgy calves from memory), but fingers crossed this is nothing serious. Stay tuned to the Port board for more on that.

I guess if you are referring to midfield cover, then I would expect Gray, Salopek and Hartlett to pick up the slack for the Burgoynes and D-Rod.

Personally I dont see Krakouer or Salopek as HBFs, so it will be interesting to see where they play in the NAB Cup. Krak and Broady could both feature all over the ground as neither is ready for full tilt midfield roles I wouldn't have thought.

Nash is an unknown prospect to me but he has also historically played HB so with his experience he could well slot in there to allow Sal and Krak to play their more natural games.

In summary: watch the NAB Cup for a feel as to individual roles in our team, last years pre-season was a good reflection of our intentions with Krak and Sal both playing HBF from the NAB and on into the season.
