I have been in England for the past 8 months Scotty so not sure about the Hussler mate. I think he has been retired.
Not that this has ANYTHING to do with DT, but Weekend Hussler hasn't been retired yet. He's had some injuries for the last 9 months or so but it looks like he will run in Lightning Stakes at Flemington on Jan 30.

Anyway, I just wanted to make sure Scottydude knew that so he could waste his money on him.:p

Now, back to DT.

Thanks man, hopefully he runs like a dog first up so second up we get good odds!.

Goldstein anyone considering ? should be the roos 2nd ruck

Also comparing Sandilands and Cox is very wrong, one has skill and one doesnt.

This view is so confusing that I honestly don't know which way your opinion is swayed.

Care to elaborate on which one you consider to have talent and which one not... and why?

Oh and Goldstein could come into consideration in a few teams I reckon. Doubt he will get a gig in mine at this stage though but interesting prospect that could pay off

Should play every game, but I don't personally like the idea of selecting players who are only going to get minimal game time (as most second ruckman do). He won't be scoring any points while he's sitting on the bench.

I can't believe people are writing off Ryder so soon. I think he'll have Tippett covered over the whole season.

For one, he'll still play a majority of the time in the ruck; he'll rest up forward more this year (=goals/marks/$DTpoints$), is very durable and won't be completely knackered as what he was for most of last year where he ran out of puff in a lot of matches.

+1 Ryder for me.

This year really is a breath of fresh air when it comes to ruck selections. In recent years there has been only a few standout candidates, and one selection practically picked itself (Cox). Off the top of my head, I can think of Cox, Sandilands, Ryder, Tippett, Kreuzer, McIntosh, Brennan and Jolly as strong players.

It is quite different from previous years isnt it. All those selections could pay off in 2010. However I have doubts Brennan will be a ruck again.

Agreed!

There will be alot more variety as far as ruck combo's go this year. However by the looks of it the Kruzer/Tippet combo is looking to be the most popular.

I guess you can also add to that list Ottens and Hille.

The rucks is where I have given the most thought this year, It was looking like Tippet and Kreuzer were locks and that was going to be it. However it is now looking to me that whoever gets the number one job at Sydney will be my second one behind Kreuzer and tippet can slip into the forward line in order to take advatage of the new dual position rules. Seaby or Mumford will improve out of the park and although you might loose a few points early but the money you will save can be spent elsewhere!. The high number of hitouts at Sydney will improve their time on the ball and keep them in the game. I think i have now talked myself into taking a massive risk and picking one of these two, especially with my forward line looking a bit thin! let me know what you think guys or if im totally off the mark

You're right on the money! I've been intending to do a very similar thing for 2 reasons.

1.) To utilise the dual positions opportunites by having Tippett in the forwards if he has dual status and it works how we think it will.

2.) I believe at some stage during the season you'll want to take the opportunity to trade in Sandi or Cox or Clark because I'm confident one of them will look very appetising at some stage.

Both Kreuzer and Tippett are too close to premium price to have them and not keep them as it would be wasting a trade to upgrade for just a few points differnce between them and those premiums.

I still think that Brogan is an absolute bargain.

You may well be proven right but he's never played a full season and, at 32 being asked to shoulder more load in the absence of Lade, I worry about his durability. If he stays on the park extra TOG could make him a very good (and unique) selection.

I agree,

i am however still going to stick with sandilands and kreuz i think.

+1 for me too :thumbsu:

What are peoples thoughts on Matthew Leuenberger as a second ruck option?

Too many question marks over Brisbane's rucks, with Clark, Luey and Charman all deserving a spot. Stay away from all three, at least at the start, IMO.

What are peoples thoughts on Matthew Leuenberger as a second ruck option?

Here are some random thoughts that can't be backed up until NAB Cup/Rd.1 teams.

a) Clark might play as a permenant CHB/CHF. Adam Hunter style. Allowing L'Burger & Charman to play together in the ruck.

b) Vossy is aiming to win immediately to get a premiership out of Power, Black & Brown before they are done, thus the Fev move. This may lead him to take Charman who offers better experience and leadership than L'Burger.

The reason I say the above is because I'm really hoping Charman can get up and in the team. Too cheap to go over if he is available, allows you to hold him until the rucks show their true form.

You'd think with the dollars Sydney are paying Mumford they're going to give him plenty of game time. Starting to see merit in this tactic especially with the ability to swap dual positional players. Have slotted Mumford in as second ruck which has allowed me to bolster fwds from a starting rookie to Tippet. Will watch with interest on Mumford/Seaby pre-season form.

On this basis then you should look to have a dual positional player accross all lines
