You have 3 players to upgrade but with only ten trades left I'd suggest leaving Maguire on the field until late.

That leaves you with Martin & Mayne to be upgraded.

Personally I'd suggest waiting two weeks for Fyfe to peak and downgrade him to Gourdis of Richmond or any other forward rookie you like, wouldn't stress about letting O'Keefe go past you.

That should leave you with a bit less than $200k cash to upgrade Martin with.

So...

8 trades left
Remaining cash not much

Defenders: Goddard, Hodge, Shaw, Gilbee, Enright, Maguire, Waters
(Webberley, Trengove)

Midfielders: Ablett, Bartel, Boyd, Cooney, Barlow, Premium
(Cunnington, McNeil)

Rucks: Sandilands, Hille
(Warnock, Lobbe)

Forwards: Giansiracusa, Brown, O'Keefe, Pavlich, Franklin, Pod, Mayne
(Gumbleton, Gourdis)

From their I'd hold my trades until the finals with the intention of downgrading a Webberley/Trengove/Gumbleton and upgrading a Mayne or a Maguire.

Just my thoughts.

I agree i will now be looking at upgrading Maguire ahead of Shaw last out of the 3 players i need to upgrade.

After reading everyone's thoughts i think i may look to upgrade mayne first by downgrading gumbleton, fyfe is looking good at the moment as keeping on the bench for most of the season.

Upgrading Martin will be next. I'm tempted to trade now instead of waiting a couple weeks due to tough leagues coming up.

Thanks Cynic for the feedback.

I need to generate a bit of cash in order to upgrade Kennelly to a premium, so I just want to see what people think is the best option:

A) This week: Gumbleton to Nathan O'Keefe, Kennelly to premium defender. I would then have Rockliff and NOK as forward reserves.

B) Next week: Martin to Gysberts, Kennelly to premium defender. I would then have Gysberts and Shuey as midfield reserves. I would have Gumbleton and Rockliff as forward reserves.

Another option is to downgrade Gumbleton this week & Martin next week, upgrade Kennelly next week and have 8 trades and a fair bit of cash to play with, with 1 more defender to upgrade.

Another option arises if people think Martin is appropriate cover to keep for the entire season. I could trade Shuey to Gysberts next week - would only give me an extra 60k so probably is not worth it. However is a bench of Gysberts and Shuey good enough to see me out for the remainder of the season? Shuey is best 22 for the Eagles but was injured and now has glandular fever, and we all know how impressive Gysberts was but can he keep it up?

The last option is, of course, to conserve trades and ride it out as I am not copping any 0s but Kennelly does need to be upgraded at some stage and now seems a good time before he gets back and drops a fair bit more in price. With 11 trades left I feel I can use a few more over the next few weeks anyway, looking at my team.

Note: Keeping Kennelly this week will not cost me a 0 as my 7th, 8th and 9th defenders are Webberley, Davis and Hams - so I would just play Webberley and Davis as I did this week, but I will have no playing bench cover.

If it makes it easier to give advice, here is my team as it currently stands:

Goddard, Hodge, Enright, Mackie, Kennelly, Waters, Davis (Webberley, Hams)
Swan, Montagna, Bartel, Gibbs, Selwood, Barlow (Martin, Shuey)
Sandilands, Hille (Warnock, Roughead)
Chapman, Pavlich, O'Keefe, Brown, Harvey, Franklin, Podsiadly (Gumbleton, Rockliff)

11 trades remaining, 23k spare

Would appreciate some thoughts......

IMO Option A

If you were to go Option B you may not have enough cover for your midfield bench especially if Gysberts is dropped.

Tempted to just go Shuey to Gysberts this week... then wait a couple of weeks for my final upgrade of Silvagni by downgrading Stevenson once he gets back to playing.

Is anyone considering Leroy Jetta as a cheap forward option to play out the year?

I thought about it for a few seconds myself, but I can see it backfiring. It would be like getting Kepler Bradley as your second ruck. Neither has the greatest job security.

But it would differentiate your team from others, which could be good.

You know that's a strong enough team and with your trades remaining I would seriously consider upgrading two of your defenders. Kennelly is worth next to nothing so I'd almost aim to have him on your bench with your team. That would leave Davis & Weberelly/Hams to upgrade (Depending on which one peaks higher, likely Weberelly).

On the basis Rockliff represents your best downgrade player I'd be very inclined to wait for Rockliff, Davis & Weberelly/Hams to peak rather than rushing into a Nathan O'Keefe trade.

Also you don't need Gyserbert with Martin on the bench but if he scores another big score and you're happy with his security he could be traded for Martin as opposed to Shuey which would be a wasted trade imo.

Eyyy Jeremias,

i would probably do somthing like this:

You have 2 upgrades remaining before your team is complete. I would probably upgrade Kenelly first. Phil Davis has a BE of around 38 which he should be able to hit you would think.

This week i would go

Gumbleton----->Okeefe (Bank:147500)
Kennelly------->Premium under 401000

I think with Petrie out NOK JS increases. The people on the north board seem to like him so i think he looks alright however i could be proved wrong when teams come out. You do have rockliff there tho who i rekon is safe as houses in the Brisbane side now so perhaps taking a punt on NOK isnt such a bad gamble.

With regards to the Premium defender depending on who your bring in will obviously effect how much money you have left over. Some options are:

Options with estimated money left over give or take 1k or 2

Gilbert 9100 left over
Carrazzo 13400
Duffield 36900
Gilbee 48600
Fisher 57500

This will leave you with 9 trades left over.

Probably after that you may need to double downgrade to have enough cash to upgrade Davis depending on whether you want another premium in there or whether you want to take a punt on a slightly cheaper defender like fisher or hargrave. Will still leave you with 6-7 trades for LTI and sideways trading at the end of the year!

All the best

your a bomber so maybe you already have Stanton? if not i consider him better than Dal or Boyd, averaged 114 in the last half of last year.. and going at 110 this year

Jumped on Stanton after he had those massive run of games at the start of the year and was averaging 120. Learnt my lesson not to pay full price for players.

Thing is, i have Rohan on my forward bench. I want to put DP into play and get him onto my midfield bench. I have Bastinac on field in my mids and had Hitchcock on the field in forwards last round. Not sure if its better to upgrade Bastinac to someone like Pavlich and then put Rohan into the mids or to maybe upgrade Bastinac to Dal Santo and wait a while to get the DP swap. I have full playing cover in all positions. I have Martin & Jetta on the bench in the mids and Fyfe and Hitcock plus rohan as my rookie forwards?

If this is true then there will be many feeling like yourself - myself included!

Been stuck with JKT and Shuey on the bench for many rounds now and it finally bit me last week when Barlow was a late withdrawal...

Praying JKT gets a go this week with Brown, Hooper and Buddy all out. If he plays then i might even trade him for cash next week to either Gysberts or McNeil for some cover.

Doesn't look like JKT is going to get a run any time soon unfortunately. I should have known better, he was recruited in case Clint Young didn't get up and now Young is back playing he will find it very difficult to get back in the side. Hurts my DT in the long run as I will need to keep Martin as back up for the whole year now and not get to make any cash from him.

Hoping Gysberts will play the rest of the season.

I rekon Gysberts JS must be pritty good imo. His an in and under your mid fielder and had a very impressive debut game against the cats at skilled. With Melbourne bringing through the young Guns surely he must warrant selection after the way he played on the weekend. If he can continue the way he is i cant see him getting dropped imo. I thought he looked pritty good.

He had a very good game, granted. However, two quiet games in a row and he'll be dropped just like most other 3 games rookies.

I'd be very wary relyin on this guy for a starting spot, but clearly he is the next best cash up option at this point.

Yeh i guess any rookie debuting at this point in teh season or really for the rest of the season is gonna have fairly shake JS. He does look about as good as anyone tho imo. Then again the name Beau Muston does start to ring a few bells as well:p

Anybody got any ideas on Phil Davis' JS? I've got him and Gumby riding the bench and looking to downgrade one so I can upgrade Ziebell or Hunt/Kennelly.
Originally planned Gumby to be my bench keeper but if Davis looks like he'll play the year out then the extra 40-50K I'd make by downgrading Gumby would be very handy. Any thoughts?

i was under the impression the only reason he got a game was because trengove/scully were rested

Number 11 draft pick, so he's not on the Dees' list to make up numbers. His form in the VFL had been very good in the lead-up to his debut.

The bloke looks like a real accumulator of possessions to me - Liam Anthony sprung to mind.

1. Hitchcock might play this week
2. Hughes wont play this week or ever
3. Gram will be back soon, sideways trade
4. Tigers are on fire ;)

1. il be waiting for the team sheets
2. il be waiting untill friday or tonight
3. gram has a massive BE IMO, will drop in price, and it keeps saying the he will be out for 4 weeks. last week it said 4 weeks this week it said 4 weeks,
3. only for one week :D

I'm not going to lie... Kepler Bradley is tempting me, you have to have atleast one disabled person in your team!

Curious about this one. Looking at a Kennelly trade.

People have recommended Hargrave but I'm not convinced about his scoring ability and was looking at maybe Harbrow and possibly Birchall. Noticed Kepler at 89 avg and cheaper than any of the above.

But with only 3 games to judge by...should I be tempted? Would leave me more cash to upgrade Trengove or Martin to a better mid.

Getting Birchall in would leave me $395k if I upgrade Trengove, there's some enticing mids in the 400-410k range.
