Betts wouldn’t want Wright’s role though. He doesn’t want to play SANFL all year. That’s why he’d be going, assum8ng he is.

I don’t think Eddie would make a good coach. Only based on being on radio though, I don’t know him, but he doesn’t scream ‘coach’ to me. Player welfare makes sense though.

My issue is that the response from the Crows after a poor GF performance and a pre season camp that totally over reacted to that performance and the continual departures of quality since capitulating in that Grand Final has highlighted major problems in the leadership group as well as the football department. So the first casualty of the s**tstorm resulting from 2017 is "Eddie Betts" And I am staggered that so many on BF are happy to label him as the major problem with our complete lack of competitive ability this season. It so obviously runs much deeper than this.
I don't believe it is right that there are people within the Crows making these decisions that soon may be out the door themselves.

Spot on that is the joke of whole thing is the main culprits for this mess Burton and co. still there whilst we organise our outside review making decisions on who we delist trade or negotiate to bring in .
Simply because Fagan as CEO and Roo as Football director would not pull pin on Burton , Campo and Hart at the least so we could bed getting the best available instead of what's left by time review and review of happens,

The first casualty was Richard Douglas. He wanted to go on the club said no.

Eddie had his routine end of year interview yesterday and Rowey got wind Eddie was told something different. It is still a Rowey rumour at this stage, but if the club has told Eddie there is a good chance he will be playing a lot of SANFL next year or that he may be better off seeking a place elsewhere it is 100% the correct thing to do for a 33 year old player. Regardless of us supporters chanting his name at games.

Depends how we go about it really. There's still a good core of senior guys who've played quality footy, if the right people are put in place and not just a token sacking of 2 we can bounce back pretty hard.

I'm not confident we will do all the right things, but if we do we can hit back hard. Not next year maybe as we transition youth through the squad but in 2021/22 we can be around the mark again.

I’ve got no problem with it. If true at all, was probably just told he’d be playing 2s all year and he’s decided he doesn’t want that. If I had any reservations it would only be about Mackay getting an extension. But I can’t see the club flat out delisting Eddie and paying out 1 year so we get an extra pick in the 6th round.

The club isn't delisting Betts. I don't know who started this bullshit rumour. You dont delist contracted players you can trade. The club has said to Betts that if he wants to play out his contract he can or if he is being offered 2 years or more at another club it will not stand in his way. The club is doing exactly what Clarko did with Hodge, a club legend at Hawthorn. Clowns like Stephen Rowe who want to create hysteria for his ratings don't help. The club is trying to right the ship that is the titanic crows. Obviously our cap has been badly managed. The club must move out large portions of our aging list to replenish through trade and draft now.

Even though the time has come, the club is entirely responsible for his demise in the last two years.

A player like him should be ending on a high.

Dougie and Otto were both pushed before Eddie, he’s not close to being the first casualty. And I haven’t read anyone suggesting that he’s anything close to “the major problem”. All that would have happened is that he’s been told he’s not in their AFL plans for 2020 and he’ll be playing a truck load of SANFL. If Eddie chooses to seek AFL games elsewhere that’s entirely up to him. Agree with your last sentence though. But that’s what happens when you start a review 2 weeks after the end of the season. Blight’s take on it was spot on in terms of the timing of it.

The club is finally making the hard calls, dougie was told to pack his bags Sauce obviously has been Otten has been

Eddie is the oldest player on our list and posters complain about the age of the list FFS

Greenwood and Keath have been told NO LONG TERM CONTRACTS for older players again its an attitude change

He was dropped this year, everyone knows his days are numbered

If he can get a gig elsewhere swap him for a 6th rounder help him achieve that, if he must be retained he will have fun running around the local league

Priority, as with BRIS is getting off-field & development correct .....throwing more players into a meat grinder is a waste of time & players careers ......we saw that at MELB where so many young careers were destroyed

Doubt Eddie will say anything more than he had a meeting and has a contract and plans to honour that contract at this stage.

He understands he is an older player but feels he has something.to offer still.

His management taking offers, but his first choice to stay here.

Absolutely IMO, but Eddie will go where the $$ are better. I’d reckon GC will be willing to pay Eddie what he wants dollars and contract-wise. Crows, not so much.
