Any reasonable football judge would place Deer Park in Premier and St Albans in Div.1 where both would be middle of the road teams with a solid shot at playing finals. Deer Park in Div.1 is a slap in the face of the current clubs and is disgusting by the board.

Standing ovation from me.

The lol was sarcastic But the fact edfl actually sent them to Div 1 and not prem……EDFL Literally taking the piss….

it might not be all doom and gloom both the new sides are going to have to get used to how sides play in the edfl as every league has a style and a standard that differs from each other . The wrfl is a biff and barge type were the edfl is more run and finesses I have a sneaky hunch the top div 1 sides will give the newbies a run for their money

Pretty confident the top sides will be fine against St Albans, but Deer Park will be much tougher. They do have the advantage of both sides not playing much footy on their grounds too.

Worst of all the draw is ****ed now.

Well its easy bash you gotta start somewhere and earn the right to go premier league..right or wrong i believe that's the philosophy. If deer park are div 1 premiers they go up and if they don't then all the assumptions is only that ..an assumption..surely we will know half way into the season
.
West coburg
Ruperstwood

Will be challenging

Ruppo and WC won’t stand a chance against Deer Park mate. They would be better then at least 3 prem teams from this season.

7 A league flags in a row is enough to throw them straight into prem and let them earn their place to remain in prem.

Make both leagues 11 teams and top 5 for finals.

Not that hard.

If it has to happen, then this would be a smart option.

Best post i have seen from you Bash. I cant understand how everybody you speak to and everybody on here all completely agree that Deer Park should not be put into div 1 under any circumstances but from all reports that is the plan from the league. How on earth is there nobody down at the EDFL that is saying hang on this cannot happen. If the EDFL go through with this it nothing short of a disgrace and the clubs need to make a stand, particularly the div 1 clubs. They bang on about ‘the best division in local footy’ but are willing to stack it with 12 teams for a year and have 11 of them playing for 2nd place. When is the EDFL going to come out and update the clubs and the EDFL community on with some sort of information regarding this topic. They are a basket case at headquarters right now

Looking at their side this year, Deer Park aren't what they once were,
I'd be disappointed if any club didn't back themselves to beat them (even if Deer Park are favs), particularly any with aspirations to go up.
Shocking take. Finished 3rd in A-Grade this year in WRFL. Most clubs would have a 2-5year plan I’m sure but still take it year by year regarding their aspirations. Deer park coming in this year ruins a lot of clubs 2023 aspirations who probably would have spent the year and next off season then planning for how they’re going to attack A- Grade.

Hardly. On paper, are they as strong? The answer is unequivocally, no.
The overall gist of my 'take' was not to down tools but to give it a crack - if you find this shocking, probably best to sit the discussion out..

I think you will find that the EDFL clubs WOULD have had no problem with Deer Park and St Albans coming across IF they were involved in the journey.
You can’t tell me this whole process commenced and concluded over the past 3 months?
Engagement, Transparency, Communication and everyone’s on board. They may not like it however given TIME they’ll understand and be prepared.

Also note not one club/president have spoken against both clubs joining.

Categorically wrong!
There have been plenty!
There was a meeting called with board on Monday 24th October. All was in readiness when at 8pm on the night before, the chair cancelled the meeting. Unexplained reasons , perhaps the issue with CEO and senior manager reared its head, however it should’ve gone ahead period!

The board is dysfunctional at best, mates club.
A board member is a life member at one of the clubs coming in. I wonder whether there was a Conflict declared? Normal practice would suggest there had to be and be excluded from the vote!
Anyhow apparently there is a meeting on Tuesday

Nick Condos at Deer Park, so if thats correct Stoketurboego, Parkside Football Club maybe next in line to come over from the WRFL, life member there also.
All 7 Board members were present, 6 voted yes, 1 lady abstained, it should all be in the minutes, clubs can request a copy.
