What an absolute joke! From all reports, the penalty handed down is very lenient, but as much as the EDFL has a responsibility to try and stamp out this behaviour, surely the bulk of the responsibilty falls on the shoulders of the Westmeadows FC! Given that this footballer has a consistent history of these events, the club should not be letting him play, it's as simple as that! His membership dollars aren't worth it for the club to go through this crap, it is better that they just cut him lose. The buck has to stop with the club!

The penalty would appear to take this particular player past 16 weeks in career suspensions , therefore he is now facing deregistration - expect a letter from EDFL to Club and player in next couple of weeks

Absolutely appalling on the EDFL's behalf.
As for westmeadows, you would want to be taking this matter into your own hands aswell and suspending him from the club as well as the EDFL.
Players like him ( Who have priors) as such, should not be welcome on our fields. Absolutely disgusting to hear that such an act has happened.
I hope this scumbag of a player gets charged and convicted. I know ' what happens on the field stays on the field' rule applies, but not in cases as this.

Wouldn't mind hearing your side of events...

I've read one persons account and everyone elses has been hearsay.

Don't get me wrong, if he has "king hit" as alleged in posts on this forum, then the player should be dealt with accordingly and I would hope would never set foot on a field again.

I've read one person say they saw a "fair dinkum king hit", but is that person's definition of a king hit the same as the next? I'm hoping it wasn't a king hit and that the player on the receiving end saw the hit coming. King hits are not on. Plain and simple.

Reality is he has been given 8 weeks, it's up to the club to deal with the behaviour the way they see appropriate. It is obvious based on the penalty handed down by the tribunal that his actions were not on.

Hopefully everyone (especially the player on the receiving end) can move on from this in the right direction.

Hopefully if study permits, I'll be down to watch Westy take on Airport West.

Some interesting results yesterday? Seems that the top 6/8 teams can on any day beat each other eg Hadfields big loss to Glenroy. I thought that at home Haddy would be at their best? Glenroy has passed some tests and failed some so the jurys still out? Glenroy have a very tough run with most of the top 6 still to come. Wet Coburg are travelling well and at this point should be top 2 at R-18. Airport West over the next 5 rounds play the botton 6 as they have played all the top 8 sides. Expect AW to add to their games total + massive % boost. AW have not had their best team on the park this year and combined with he reserves being unbeaten the depth must be enormous? AW Reserves player kcked 17 goals yesterday against WM seems some hidden talent is yet to be caled upon?
Can anybody confirm the below?
What is the finals structure Div1 (B Grade) eg final 4 ? 1 plays ??? 2 plays ?? and so on.
I presume the Div2 (C Grade) wll follow the above with winner not being promoted?
Wll the A & B GF be payed on same weekend or stick to last years format?

Personally feel the 8 will stay as is.
EK have a much tougher run home then Westy.

Westmeadows v East Keilor in a 3 weeks will be a big game, EK need to win to keep hopes of staying in 'Division 1' alive.

Watched a little bit of Westy v Airport West before getting back to the books.
Felt that the Westy players were pretty committed but were let down by the game plan. Too often AW were allowed to have numbers just out side the 50 whilst Westy flooded back. Centre clearances weren't rewarded either as they only had 2 on 5 in the forward line. Not sure if that changed after half time.

On a side note, it was great to see Daniel Harris running around Willowbrook. I've witnessed a few games where ex-AFL players try to do it all themselves. This does not apply to Daniel - tried to involved all his teammates and was more than willing to back them in. I think he will play a very big role at developing the younger players that they have.

I'm with you on the 8, CR.

EK have, Tulla, Westy, Hillside, MV, and AW to go. Can see two wins there, so they'll need an upset somewhere.

West have, MV, EK, KP, RP and Glenroy. Could win all 5.

Northern have, Jacana, Haddy, WC, Tulla and TL. Should win 2 and maybe TL at home too.

Haddy have, RP, NS, Jacana, TL and WC. Should win 2 games at least.

Glenroy far from out of the woods, but have a great % and do play Hillside.
