Went down and watched Northern play Hillside. Very physical game and quite fiery too for a pre-season game.

The size of the Saints players was very noticeable after last season. They look bigger and much faster. Nat Caruso should be pretty happy at where they are. Got a glimpse of the new Saints Guernsey too and very impressed.

Hillside would be pretty happy even though they lost. O'Hailpin was great in the ruck and really should dominate Div 3. Funnily enough, a player of his size would be the perfect fit for Northern.

Did hardgraves play for Hillside yesterday? And did northern win by much ?

someone told me crazyburn got beat by 30 goals by Deer Park, surely that is a mistake. Can anyone confirm. I also heard Glenroy beat Yarraville by 10 goals. Anyone got any scores for westy or Lakes.

i did watch the game between craigieburn and deer park for a side that only kicked 3 goals for the game craigieburn looked slow and no forward line and you are right they did get beat by 30 goals so it looks like its goin to be a long season for them again

Seems both Westy & C/Burn have lost a fair amount of players and ladder expectation? How can clubs fall that quickley????

Craigieburn should play finals losing to deer park isn't too much of an indication of their position in div 1 considering all the. marby park a grade back to back premiership players have followed the money man over to deer park....

i went and watched glenroy and yarraville a very good standard of football but with glenroys new recruits and with kite kickin 8 goals up forward without the 3 big fellas whitnall/piggott/woodhouse who were rested. After half time it was all glenroy running away with a 9 goal win and when they get there full side on the ground they will be very competative this year

I also saw Glenroy game on saturday, roys were really impressive biggest difference from last year was the 2 ruckmen they have picked up. Not sure where there from but both looked very good that will free up big lance to spend 100% of game at full fwd and with kite and woodhouse up there will be a very dangerous fwd line. With a couple of other new recruits cronin and scibberas to add to midfield and the depth the roys have in there 2's should be a big year for the red and white.

Deer park were unbelievable, they will not lose a game this year in a grade wrfl. Couldnt imagine the dollars spent on some of those players that were playin. Eagles had plenty out again but wouldnt of got near them either way. Think it was 22 goals but really just a stupid praccy match choice from cburn should not of played a side like that

Watched the Lakes praccy match on sunday.

Conditions were horrible, struggled alot early but finished well.

Looking like a very fit running side

I think they've done a pretty good job here.

Ok...let the edfl specialist and historian explain the colors..

Moomba park wore a blue jumper.
North coburg saints wore a red and green jumper.

Clubs merge

Hence red green blue

There you go colors explained

Moomba park actually wore geelong jumpers.... They merged with fawkner amateurs whore wore a navy blue jumper to become fawkner park football club.... Fawkner park merged with north coburg

Northern Saints was formed in October 2007 as a result of a merger between North Coburg Saints Football Club which played in the EDFL and Fawkner Park who played in the Northern Football League and which itself previously was a merger between Fawkner Amateurs and Moomba Park.
The club as a single entity was affiliated with the Essendon District Football League and has continued affiliation with this League from 2008 as a merged entity.
The Fawkner Amateurs FC was very successful in the 70's and 80's jumping from F Grade to B Grade with Premiership's almost every second year at one stage. The Fawkner Colors of light and navy blue was changed to Navy with a white FPFC yoke when the Club merged with Moomba Park in the mid 90's.
Moomba Park FC played in the Riddell District Football League.
The colors of St Olivers FC were green with a red yoke, these were the traditional colors associated with the Catholic Primary School. For many years, the club fielded only junior teams, until 1978 when seniors were established.
In the early 90s, the club changed its name to North Coburg Saints Football Club to better reflect the area it represented.
In 1998 the colours were also changed to purple, red, green and white (of AFL club Fremantle Dockers). The Guernsey was changed back in 2006 to the traditional red and green jumper which had been worn for over fifty years.
