you probably got the chequebook out as well to entice the junors
2 Years in A grade and 1 flag, not bad Blue jet.
Other supporters and clubs are only jealous , maybe they should be trying to learn from Marbys success instead of bagging them.
Winners are grinners mate!
1 flag in 30 years isn't enviable at all.
You're right though the other clubs are in some ways jealous of the money that ga puts into marby.
I think you'll find very few clubs want to copy marbys "success" as they are community clubs not mercernary inc.
I cant recall big spending greenvale or strathmore getting any of the negativity that marby does, so money has very little to do with it.
How dumb are you, what dont you understand.
Maribyrnong have only been in A grade for 2 years for 1 flag.
Before that they were in B grade, get it!!!!
What do you mean when you say 1 flag in 30 years?
Unfortunately money talks in all types of life including football.
Good luck to us , bad luck for you!
It's really sad when individuals need others to fail to pleasure themselves. How about you go to your club and give them a chop out in one way or another and see if you can actually help YOUR club to be a better place and maybe even be able to compete with some of the better clubs within the league!
The potting of our club is getting to ridiculous proportions of late. We are in the very lucky position of having some very generous and loyal sponsors within the club (not just GA) and it's through the hard work of the committee that these relationships have helped the club out enormously.
The running of succesful and profitable functions also helps considerably.
And do you people think the 200 juniors we had playing with the club last year just walked in off the street?
i remember playing against marby the year they won the flag in B Grade, i havent been following them much since then but can someone tell me how many players who played in that senior flag are still playing in the 1s? or even are still at the club?
I am trying to rack my brain and can't think of any that played in both flags, Josh tanner is still playing but missed this year because of injury.
What has that got to do with anything. A & B grade are worlds apart, so of course we had to turn over those players. As we seen with Glenroy this year, if you don't recruit you can't be successful in A grade.
I'm sure someone can be more accurate than me but I'll have a stab at those players who played in B grade flag for GV then played in the first A grade flag - Bicer, Zerafa, Garbutt, Mocca??, Hassall?? I'm sure there are a few of the local lads as well. Yes you have to turn over a few and recruit etc. But the entire list???
There are still several players at the club from the B grade flag who are playing 2,s,
The only one that made the final 21 in this years grand final was G. Daley( who by the way kicked a lazy 7 goals )
Tanner ,Ziros , Gilpin , Agresta etc did not make it. cant think of anyone else.
Well boys something that no one saw comming - Vic Police & Liquor Licensing have put a ban on the sale of any alcohol within the confines of your Sports CLubs during junior football matches as they believe this to be the sole cause of parent misbehaviour.
To the bloke with the mallet and to all those clubs that just don't give a shit about parent/crowd behaviour - thanks very much - we will all now pay the price a real $$$ price.
Letters were sent to all Public Officers of registered/licenced clubs. Sold out again by the powers to be EDFL!!!!!.
Whose job will it be to walk around the oval and tell people they can't have a drink in their car?? No doubt the powers to be have solved the problem - me thinks not.
hey guys,
i have just been reading all the stuff here.
livingston and kurt, well mostly kurt, spoke to every club going around. the going rate was 1200 for livingston and a $3K sign on and $800 a game and a $2K sign on.
Marby paid it.
