DS apparantly had a few players out as mentioned swadiak didnt play along with Brendon Hehir and Sam Tankard, noticed Ramsay only played a half as did Turner and Neeson, not sure if they are injured or it was just too hot for them??

Think DS played the last half with only one or two players on the bench.

As for Ash Craig spent most of the day hiding in the forward pocket, hardly touched it, bet the St Albans ppl would be wanting to withdraw the money they are giving him.....rumoured to be around the 400 mark.

Also on the talk of strathmore, heard alot of the older faithful around the club not happy with the direction hille has gone, may see another riddells creek with them, once he closes up the cheque book they will be lucky to not be relegated.

Heard the same thing when Aitken got the job in 97. Heard the same thing when Keogh got the job in 2000. If the older faithful are the blokes who do nothing except show up on match days stand at the bar and tell the people doing all the work what they are doing wrong (every club has plenty of them) then I'II put off slashing my wrists over the future demise of the Mores.

Agree with Paxman, doesnt play for money could easly get s******** load somewhere else. I would say they would be spending between $100 to $120 a year, this would be including sign ons, transfers of players and coach aswell aussie dude. What do you est?

yeah i reakon about 110k. Last year i thought strathmore had committed on about 140k at the start of the year. But you would have to take away about 15k for obriens injury.

I would have to agree there with aussie dude, not many clubs spend $200,000 a year on match payments! Greenvale have spent up big over the years, but never that much and they got results....a flag! Will be interesting to see how it unfolds.
it would not be that much. more like 150 to 170 k. seymour, benalla, mansfield and euroa in the gv and vermont, noble park, east ringwood and east burwood in the efl would be spending around that. once again i will state that if you want to be one of the best leagues going around you need 4 or 5 sides doing what strathmore are doing. Unfortunately that is where football is heading. soccer have been doing it for more than half a century.

Great Call aber,

How often do football clubs play patsy to the old F A R T S at the bat on match day.

Yeh, these guys probably busted their a r s e s in years gone by, but now it is the turn of someone new. If they don't like it get involved or shut up and let those having a crack set the pace

Dont worry about when the cheque book closes, there is plenty of coint down that way to replace it.

Also very fickle lot the more's supporters. Might be grumbling now, but wait until they start winning, the band wagon will be in full flight. Every junior from glenroy road to woodland street will be busting a pace to get there and play.

They will always have quality coming through

I hope where not heading down the same track as soccer.please just have a look at the poms hav'nt there been only three teams that have won the priemer leage in ten years.and as for the local comp there lucky that a couple of millions dip in to there pockets and pull them out of the grave yard.maybe i'm wrong but if where heading down the same track as soccer then it's time to take up lawn bowls.

Mate if you don't know what happened you should probably find out first. The people involved in the practice match trip to Fish Creek were approched first. Of course it is disappointing that the trip was ruined.

I ask you this... if your mate/team mate.. was king hit and out on the floor would you let it be or would you stick up for your mate.

The boys showed how much each other means to each other and how good mates they are by sticking up for a mate and bringing the incident to an end, as it was decided that it was best if they left so no more disruption was caused.. after of course leveling the scores. Go jacana :thumbsu:

Thats the reason your league is not in the top 10. look at the TOP 10 LEAGUES OUTSIDE OF THE VFL IN VICTORIA THREAD and all them leagues except vafa have atleast 4 or 5 sides paying out dollars like strathmore. If you want to be known as a very high standard football league thats what needs to be done. thats the direction that football has gone.
Totally dispute your comments and sentiments. Remember, this is local football, not AFL, where you get a pick of players in the draft and pay to the salary cap. Local football is about giving juniors that cannot make AFL the chance to play for the local club, not to be forced out by some high priced, and in some cases overated imports. That is exactly what Strathmore are doing! If you really care to check out the background of clubs, you will see quite a few clubs over the years that have relied on one or two benefactors, go down the gurgler when the money stops.
On another point, getting rather stale you getting on the EDFL thread and bagging the comp. Begs the question, just how much of the EDFL comp have you seen? Very little I suspect. Suggest you stick to your DVFL thread. Or is it your insecurity that drives your vitriolic diatribe? Suspect underneath you know the EDFL is better regardless of the money being paid.

firstly deefer i must apologise for keeping you up all night trying to think of something to write back to me. unfortunately football nowadays is all about money. Usually the team that spends the most lovely wins the flag. therefore i will go back to my earlier threads and say that the teams with the most proffessional commitees with very good business contacts is what is required if you want to be successful. i am just stating the facts about these clubs and why their leagues are so powerful. keep reading my posts and you might learn something about local football

with all stathmores pick ups you would have to think condon, morrison, campbell and oggy are in resevre contention.

You obviously haven't seen them play too often. All premiership players who will form part of this years side. I think most are confusing the addition of new players with them being better than those already there. No certain games for any of the newbies without runs on the board.

i have to disagree with u there kingfooty and thats from experience and although with another league port colts [wrfl] won last years gf and runners up the previous season ,with more than likely the smallest budget around 45k, with other teams such as hoppers and st albans spending over 100k, so if you can keep the good juniors coming through and get quality players [people] in to your club that want to be at the club not just take the money there is other ways at winning PREMIERSHIPS without buying them . Loyalty

If Port spent 45K and won the flag that isn't due to loyalty its proof that miracles do occur!

What you heard back in 97 and in 2000 was nearly proved to be correct. they won the flag in 98 and were terrible in 99, had another crack in 2000 and were useless in 2001 and then missed out on getting relagated in 2002 by 10 points when they beat Keilor at home in the last round.
