EDFL Premier Discussion 2024

No idea if the comments above are true, but if so then agree he shouldn’t be allowed to umpire again in the EDFL.

Douttas missing their 4 best players today but were gallant for 3 quarters and held a very solid 4 goal lead at 3/4 time in what was a tight contest all day. A different Deer Park turned up in the last quarter, completely dominated centre bounce and Douttas backline which had held up all day collapse under the pressure.

A very large crowd, a great game with no spite and the Deer Park supporters certainly came alive in the last but there wasn’t nothing untoward, just some banter.
Excellent anaylsis. Deer Park had their 2nd best player of the past 4 weeks Noonan out who was a big loss and their number 1 tagger who would have quelled number 19 was on vacation. Great to see Majak enjoying his footy in the reserves.

Good players but most teams have VFL listed guys. EDS seem to use the ‘we had 3 of our best out’ line a bit.
Didn’t think I offered as an excuse. Deer Park deserved to win, I just thought they played really well for 3 quarters, with an inexperienced side and with 4 under age players playing they are heading in the right direction.

deer parks last quarter pretty dam good. Douttas will be ok the coach is doing a fair job with a young group who have improved. get a couple grown men and the diggers boys back and things could improve again.
I did hear a reference to an umpires commen towards the visitors and if what suggested above is even remotely close then thats just not aceptable.

!st class effort by Deer Park today to beat Doutta Stars and the umpires. Doutta Stars facilities are first class and it was pleasing to be genuinely welcomed by the home team to their club. Kiosk is a grade as well and reasonably priced. The Captain of Deer Park put on a masterclass in leadership by example and is a genuine matchwinner. North melbourne should draft him.
All you do every week is come on here and bag umpires, its nuffies like you that make umpires leave the game. How about getting of your keyboard and go out and have a crack at umpiring. And see how much work they put it at training, might make you appreciate them.

Mate. Facts are the umpiring was atrocious and it is not about keyboards or me having a crack at umpiring. If a player gets slammed into the ground in full view of an umpire after the ball has crossed the boundary line and the umpire shakes his head sideways what does that say to me about the standard of umpiring or even the motives of the umpire?. The same umpire was interacting with the crowd as well which is very very odd behavior from an umpire.

Like i said, go and attend training twice a week and go and umpire. See how you go

You never know, Bashem might come back now that Pat is heading off into the sunset ...
Very ironic his mate move on boys disappeared at the exact same time, maybe it’ll be a double comeback

If Douttas kept all their better juniors who are one pointers and still running around for other EDFL clubs and other local clubs in vic they would be playing well under the points cap each week (25-30 points) and they would be rivalling Keilor.

Talking about the likes of both Brown brothers, Wallis, Calvaresi, Jensen, Day, the Andersons, Laguda, Campisi, Caluzzi, Kosmos, Roumelitious Rogers etc

Ok and castlemiane would be better if Dusty martin didn't go to Richmond.

As frustrating at it is that all that talent is running around for other clubs, they have to keep moving forward. Those players chose to leave and likely won’t be coming back. Under the new coach they’ve targeted young talent that will stick around and build it alongside the juniors coming through. 4 under 18 boys played yesterday and quite a few rep players in the 16’s and 14’s. If the stay true to that and be patient their time will come I’m sure of it. First time in a long time they have an elite coach and stable committee. Was talk yesterday that majority of the current list has committed to 2025, that’s the first hurdle

Agreed, and make sure those juniors stay and not get poached by the bigger clubs

A few of these players weren’t Douttas juniors
They moved in U14’s or U16’s when the rep coach recruiting spree occurred… and since returned to their junior club.

Obviously yes if they stayed they would be 1 pointers by now but certainly not “homegrown” juniors

Guessing you're talking about Laguda, Campisi, Caluzzi?
Both Browns moved from Taylors Lakes to Douttas because they moved residence.

Bruno wasn't recruited by, Geoff. A few of those boys moved when the EDFL went to Div 1, 2 and 3 in the juniors.

Bruno was 100% recruited by Geoff along with approx. 10 other boys through out he competition. They were all players from the combined side Geoff coached, single handedly stuffed the under 16 comp for self gratification.
Had a combined side playing against normal club sides each week.
A couple of years later Douttas had the audacity to sook up to EDFL when they lost a heap of there juniors because of his recruiting. Div. 1, 2 and 3 had been around for years before Geoff recruited them so had nothing to do with divisions. The division changes came though when grading was introduced.
