I'd be amazed if AFL VIC didn't have a look at every premier of every comp in the State that has adopted the Salary Cap. I couldn't care less which club it is. Much like any other sport where the winner is under much more scrutiny to ensure they were within the rules.

I can only imagine that IF Paco and EDS are being looked at closely that AFL VIC have some sort of inclination that they may have breached somewhere down the track. The EDS saga through the year may have been enough to get AFL VIC in. Why else would you look at two clubs so closely that performed poorly throughout the season
Maybe the same reason why the AFL sent drug testers to an EDS game 2 years ago. An axe to grind, maybe. Who knows.

Tyson Hartwig from EDS signed with Doncaster Sharks but he does not appear on the transfer list, or am I just not seeing it. That must make about 10 players that appeared in the seniors last season gone. Unless EDS have some people not yet on the transfer list as coming in, I would say a certainty for a bottom 2 position.

Not all clubs have submitted transfers. Hence why some clubs have nothing. It re opens in Feb so then you’ll find out the ins and outs for 2018.

There wouldnt be too many toby pinwells in the edfl would there be turbs, or is he taking a leaf out of pacco playing for free

Very funny post my old mate Trent. Pinwill is one of a kind buddy. Would have been contacted by many clubs and offered lots but choose to go back to his junior club and play EFL Div3. The guys a gun mate. Tough as and goes all day. Ripper bloke., Think he will only play a certain number of games as will still get down to Pt Melb during the season..

PS: Imagine the guy in Div3 lining up on Pinwill.. Haha..

Interesting recruiting method from KDFL.

Can't wait to see the transfer list open back up, will be interesting to see if the rumours of EDS losing up to 20 players is true. The list currently shows at least 10 that played seniors last season have gone.

If true, you can pencil in a return to Div 1 and they will probably stay there for three to four seasons.
Is that what they get for being honest on their contracts where other clubs have been telling half truths regarding sign on fees being paid or hands passing money under the table.

Oh FFS! I know things are a bit slow over Summer, and season still 2 and a half months away. But really. You’re intimating that Douttas are somehow the poor, innocent victims in this salary cap fiasco. They’re not. It’s a mess of their own making. They monumentally f****d up their player payments budget and got caught out.

Yes, you are possibly correct in that other clubs may or may not have circumvented the player payments salary cap, and there may be further revelations to come. Not sure if you actually have evidence of this, or as just slinging a bit of s**t to deflect and muddy the waters? But please spare us your attempt to elicit sympathy for Douttas.

New I agree with Stax on this. You are way off the mark on this subject which I thought was put to bed.
At the start of the 2017 season Douttas we’re offering certain recruits huge money and trying to outbid other clubs. They didn’t stay within the budget and knew this early. What happened to them was of their own doing buddy..

With regards to other clubs that’s crap and you are guessing. To my knowledge club hierarchy are happy to have a salary cap to reign back the spending that was going on and clubs will ultimately work within the cap. Yes I do still hear of clubs offering sign ons but this to me is ridiculous unless it’s more an upfront payment with reduced match payments so overall it works out to be fair. The only way to win is to recruit the right people which I’m sure most clubs do. But some still go for overpriced players who promise the world but deliver little effort. Who is at fault with this type of recruit? Well it could be either player or club depending on situation..

I’m in favour of salary cap, but still dislike the points system as it is currently written..EXample: VFL development league now gone but these players are still rated 4 points, yet forced to seek a local club..Some are young kids who have little options..

Who is asking for sympathy, if you have read posts over the last year you will know I indicated that things were not all roses down there. As for slinging shit no I have been told by a club coach that is what they did and that EDS was just stupid including player sign ons fees etc into their contract. No I will not say which club it was.
You may question me on that but so be it. Look around everybody else knows it's happening.

Hume Bombers the latest addition to the EDFL

Link

THE Essendon District Football League would like to confirm the Hume Bombers Football Club as its newest fully-affiliated Club.

The Hume Bombers will enter EDFL Competitions in 2018 with the Club looking to field two boys teams at Under 9s and Under 13s levels.

The Bombers will initially play their home games out of John Laffan Memorial Reserve on Donnybrook Road in Donnybrook, north-east of Craigieburn.

Brings the tally up to 29, I'm sure there will be another one in the next year or two to make it a 3 x 10 team comp.
Coburg ( vfl ) have junior teams starting up this year by the sounds of it.
What’s the master plan there ?
If you need senior teams for EDFL affiliation either the rule will need to change ( already might have as I don’t know or care to be honest ) or Coburg will.

Correct, didn't take long for Burnside, Hillside and Roxy to go from juniors only to senior team.

You only have to drive up the Hume to see the development going on from Craigieburn up towards Beveridge and Wallan, then out along CB rd east. That whole area will be massive in 20 years.

Hearing Jamie Allan from eds is on the move aswell. Bad news for the club
Allen Hartwig Smith Etc their top 5 or 6 players all walking. Someone said that 16 senior players have all walked. Looks like EDS will be the Craigieburn this year. Maybe it's time the president went as well. In saying that he his passionate about the club.
