Problem is which grounds do we think are premium ground surfaces in this league. So let’s compare them to next level below say VFL standard grounds!!
Which grounds could host VFL footy in means of acceptable playing surface

Keilor - Yes, Reasonably good surface.

Abers - Poor surface.

Greenvale - Haven’t seem this ground after rain for a while. Last time I did it was good but not post rain. Perfect size.

Strathmore - Poor in parts and ground size not acceptable.

Pacco - Poor surface when wet.

Doutta Stars - Poor surface

Avondale - Reasonable surface and perfect size.

Marby Park - Poor

Glenroy - Poor when wet.

APW - Reasonable surface last time I ventured out there.

That’s the difference compared to say Eastern League, Ballarat League, Goulburn Valley League etc

Northern Footy league also not the best.

Moreland council only covers Pacco on that list, there’s your problem right there, they don’t have the coin or the want, even there Premier oval Coburg is not as good as say Shepparton where they value community sport

The surface at Greenvale is probably the best. It drys out pretty quick when it rains. Only issue is the centre when it rains, can't help that it's a turf wicket though.

That’s because they’re new and have a modern construction with serious $ spent on them, then look at Pacco, probably 80+ years old and had f’all spent on it, needs complete reconstruction

Probably due to the fact that it's a Premier Cricket Ground - Greenvale Kangaroos (formally North Melbourne).

Plus you'll find that Hume City Council have done a great job in the area. Upgrading Craigieburn, Roxburgh Park etc

They have only upgraded the facilities not the ovals the gap between the boundary and fence line at CB is a mud heap especially around the CB coaches box

Looks like Damian Cavka is MIA. Has not fronted to training or returned any phone calls. May have something to do with big $$$$ Deer Park offered previously

Very interesting the WRFL giant has been struggling of late, good news, if they’re shopping to win their, what is it, 7 th in a row,
How could they possibly fit anyone into the cap for 2019, oh wait sorry, they don’t care.

Council spent time on it over pre season and into this season but didn’t finish it properly. Rate payers pay heaps and really poor services provided. Once again it comes down to who you know and what perks you can offer people..
It's going to take a bucket load to get that ground to drain.

You are too kind with some of those grounds. Pasco is a disgrace when Wet. Greenvale and Doutta are bad only when Wet. When dry good grounds. Abers is the same. Mary Is poor wet or dry. Strathmore is small and bad when Wet.
APW used to have swimming pools at the club house end in the goal square when Wet.

Remarkable when listening to or reading the poorly researched rubbish put out by the EDFL media team that week after week they would have you believe the only teams that have had injuries of any note this year are Abers, Keilor ,Greenvale & Strathmore... how lucky the other six teams have been

$5 Million, they certainly don’t deserve that much.

Please explain why they don’t deserve that much ?????
You have absolutely no idea what your talking about 🙄
Assume some of the $$ will be put into fixing the cow paddock - surface and size? Ground could be extended parkland one end /car park other

It’s for Clifton Park, which is a community facility, Bowls, footy, netball, cricket, tennis and scouts, everyone is going to benefit from this upgrade.
Not just Abers footy

That’s not true. It’s just for the pavilion. Maybe some upgrade around the park. Not sure the bowls, netball and tennis will benefit. The scouts will remain in their building so they won’t benefit. It’s only the football cricket club that will benefit.

Of course they will, sure the sports club gets a new pavilion, but that will service, footy men and women, cricket and netball, the others get upgraded entry, parking, etc etc.

As I said it will benefit football and cricket club.
All the other people that use the park might get an upgrade in car park.
I’m not saying that the sports club don’t need a new pavilion as the most certainly do, as it’s long overdue.
But don’t say that all users of the park will benefit when they clearly don’t. There are roughly 1500+ netballers that will never benefit for the $5 million spent on the new pavilion.

Thought I’d check the MVCC website, you’re wrong, everyone’s a winner here

If that is the case then that amount is ok

You sound as if Abers own the pavilion, keep it in mind that you are just a tenant.

Good to see Brad Graham cleared back to Marby. Finally a ruckman!! Now allows Clarke to move back to CHB and with Kokkinakis returning this week they will have some size through the spine.
