only a week ago I had heard reports of Cavka burning up the track at Taylors Lakes and they were pretty excited about him playing there. Not sure what happened last week, but if those opinions were anything to go buy his foot is ok and expect him to be a very very good player.
True , Cavka training at TLakes, happy running around with mates, agreed to play for $500 a game. Keilor rang, they met, offered him $1200 a game.
That's what happened

Yep that would do it, haha!

Bit of a shame a young kid would require such a fee to play for his home club but good luck to him. Big Mick might just be starting to panic a bit ?
$1200 is a big price in current climate of $250k salary cap. Not far off 10% of salary on one player. Can't imagine Galea is far behind

Big Mick is a gambler and has obviously decided to roll the dice on this one! $1200 is a big bucks! why wouldn't you go and grab 2x $600-700 players? spread the risk?

You're kidding if you think the big clubs will be staying within this..
Not saying it in a bad way, I just think its a little unrealistic to think after what one could only imagine was a $500k+ season last year that it will be chopped in half the following season. Based off that theory Galea and Co would have all gone from $1200-$1500 to $600-750.. #unlikely
All the big spenders will have their ways around it for this season.

Pardon my ignorance but why do we have a salary cap ? Surely point system is great at levelling up competition so who cares what players get paid ? Who cares what anyone gets paid , good luck to them , and also does EDFL have capabilities to monitor payments ? If not then why bother ? A lot of questions here that probably need to be answered .

Good questions! I guess its more of an equalizing factor for each club and limit the clubs that get in over their head by mortgaging the future and running into financial difficulty......Like a current Premier Div Club. I wouldn't expect that the EDFL has the resources to manage / police this in it's first year. Simple solution. Don't be the first to get caught, I think penalties will be severe and could set your club back for years! second is, "DON'T CHEAT" and you will be fine. The players will be in more control here, especially the 1 point local players which will be worth GOLD for each club. Spend the money on development rather than imports......Just my opinion :)

It's hard to disagree with what you are saying, I just hope clubs will comply I suppose. Every club on a level playing field in the future would be great.

What's the gamble? If he doesn't play he doesn't get paid!

If he plays poorly he plays at 12, and doesn't get paid

If he plays well, he's a 1 point player and is getting about what a 20 year old player who has been on AFL list for the previous 2 seasons is roughly worth
true forgot no sign on fees are allowed anymore.

Yes Route we agree to disagree! I'm not involved in the recruiting or anything other role in the club. I just don't draw any connection between players recruited and Dustin Fletcher, I could be wrong.
As for Simmsy saying Dustin has been training his arse off I'm not so sure about. Might be taking the pi55 I think Simmsy, or drinking too much of it
Dustin Fletcher just announced taking on a role at Essendon including match day commitments......So, I think his number of games will be minimal if any at all. Good Bloke and good to see champions return to the club.

Fantastic to see the great man back involved at Essendon. Unsure how you determined "minimal games or no one at all" - Essendon play 11 Saturday games 6 home 5 away - 6 of which conflict with EDFL fixture with 3 of those home games

Well speaking to an EDFL board member last year they advise me that u were able to pay sign ons and for finals.
So I guess u have wrong information unless it has changed since November

Hey mate, in the booklet it clearly stats no sign on payments allowed. Think this board member needs to get some glasses or read the entire document. Must admit it was a lot of pages..

A club somewhere will get caught I reckon this season and suffer a big penalty. Not saying EDFL but any league. Guessing it will be one of the more powerful leagues though..
