Extremely talented. Hope he doesn't repeat his grand final indiscretions from a couple of years ago.
Unfortunately regardless of what he does he will always be remembered for that, he served his time and didn't put a foot wrong this year so hopefully can show his talent at VFL level.. Reckon he could go on the recruit show and be half a chance, he just has those indigenous type traits Cyril Rioli has that so natural they can't be taught.

Not much noise coming from the Greenvale way, would hope they haven't spent all there money on getting Shannon grant. Rumours are 110k over 2 years. Lot of money, would hope he can bring some recruits.
Still less than McGuane who is the Arsene Wenger of the EDFL, just living on past glories whilst the club goes backwards quickly.

So if McGuane was coaching Abers, Greenvale or Strathmore he would send those clubs backwards as well?
Hard to tell but I doubt those clubs would have accepted the results that McGuane had put up the past 5 years, but perhaps Keilor is just happy to accept mediocrity.

If Mick had the budget of an Abers or Strathmore or Deer Park there would be a bronze statue of the bloke in one of these clubs foyers. Abers would have won flags under his control when you look at the cattle and money they have spent over the journey. As Milkman99 suggested Keilor don't splash the cash around like some others. I guess it is all relative. In such a tough competition a very good coach is still required. Just look at Abers poor buggers can't buy one!

Nah. He's a good coach, no doubt but there are others at his level or better.
WOW!! Bluejet, you certainly make a lot of comments on many different topics across many leagues, on face value this definitely wouldn't be one of your educated statements..

Can you please enlighten us all on the coaches that you think might just be of the equal of Mick McGuane, I would also be definitely interested in the names you put forward that are better than him!.

Living on past glories! Whilst the club goes backwards! More uneducated dribble been spoken on this website.

There certainly seems to be some value in getting one key criteria in your CLUB structure right!

So which coach in the edfl is equal or better than mick?
Considering the playing list & budget he works with compared to other clubs
Steve McPherson, Anthony Rock, Phil Plunkett, Digby Morrell, Rick Horwood, James Garvey, Marc Quarrell just off the top of my head I would consider better coaches with more runs on the board than Mick McGuane.

Keillor May not have had the biggest budget in the edfl, however have never had the worst either and would say should be finishing in the finals every year and be contending. They scraped into the finals this year but we're never really serious contenders. They have a strong junior setup and good depth of kids coming through so I would say McGuane has seriously underachieved since 2008. Perhaps the modern game has past him by and he can't adapt to the more tactical footy that is now being played in premier division EDFL.

Feeling a bit sensationalist are we?
Fitzy, Robbie Waters, Clinnick and Anthony Rock for starters.
There's nothing at all uneducated about thinking that there would be people at his level. He's a good coach but believe it or not there are other good coaches in other comps too.

You forgot to add Big Mal, Dean Rioli, Johnny Mac, Snake Kinniburgh, Minton-connell & Rocky to your list

Addam Maric coming back from Werribee to play at Greenvale in 2015.

Nick Maric coming back to Greenvale too? VFL career has gone down the gurgler after joining Werribee from Coburg, could only manage one senior game(late inclusion for the semi-final), big fall from grace considering he was a regular for Coburg when they weren't stand alone

WELL WELL WELL.. ItsAllAboutME, you are certainly entitled to your opinion, and that's what this forum is for, but to even mention some of the above names in the same sentence as Mick McGuane when comparing their individual abilities to coach the modern game of football has to go down as the most uneducated post I have ever read on this site.

Unfortunately Keilor FC hasn't been able to generate the income to spend on outgoing player payments such as the likes of the Aberfeldie FC, Strathmore FC and Greenvale FC in recent times. It has been Mick McGuane's ability to not only educate his playing list of the modern game but to also coach against opposition coaches on game day that has allowed this club to remain competitive in Premier Division, in doing so he was also able to bring success of the ultimate kind for this club against all odds.

Steve McPherson was a good coach in his own right but had the biggest budget in the league at the time at his disposal along with a pleather of talented juniors coming through so anything less than premierships would have been seen to be under achieving. I believe a Mick McGuane coached Keilor team made up of half of the Greenvale budget managed to defeat an undefeated Steve McPherson coached Greenvale in the 2008 Grand Final.

Anthony Rock is another good coach in his own right who had the biggest budget in the league with a pleather of talented juniors coming through, he was able to deliver the ultimate success in 2012 and 2013, a job well done.

Digby Morrell also had one of the biggest budgets at his disposal but managed to lose the unlosable Grand Final.

In all fairness to Phil Plunkett, Rick Horwood, James Garvey and Marc Quarrell, they would all be totally up against it when being compared against Mick McGuane in their ability to coach the modern game.

If and when the Keilor FC is able to match the level of outgoing player payments of its arch rivals, there will definitely be another level of unfairness for all to debate.

B.padmore from moonee valley u18 set to go and play prem div with marby as he wants to play a better standed of footy another huge loss for the div 2 club

A Rock best coach the edfl has seen. (Prob since mcGuane in 08) clearly didn't have the biggest budget or best sides on paper in both years & still got up.

As previously mentioned there would be three key criteria's, amongst others, that all clubs would be striving to put in place as part of their CLUB structure in their individual quest for the ultimate success.

1. Finances to be amongst the top five spending clubs, enabling to put in place a competitive list.
2. To have a successful club coach in place who has the ability to coach against opposition coaches.
3. Quality junior programs to enable the ability to develop from within.

Mick McGuane's ability to coach against the opposition coach in the big dance definitely helped Keilor FC taste success of the ultimate kind in 2008 even though they didn't have all pieces of the jig saw puzzle in place.

You are right 'Large Pinorcle' Anthony Rock was definitely one piece that helped form the jig saw puzzle in Greenvale's quest for the ultimate success, in all fairness to Mick McGuane though, they also had the other pieces of the puzzle in place but ultimately Anthony Rock's ability to coach against opposition coaches in the big dance helped deliver success of the ultimate kind not once but on two occasions.

It would be fair to say that Aberfeldie FC and others, have failed to get all pieces of the puzzle in their CLUB structure in place at any one given time hence the lack of success of the ultimate kind over an extremely long period of time.
