Have heard the package for Blackwell is a lot larger then 60,000. Job has also been given to him by the club so including that Is closer to the 100,000 mark. A huge amount of money to play local football.
In all fairness I don't think you can include wages from employment provided in outgoing player expenses, but you definitely include sign on fees, match payments and living allowances in outgoing player expenses.

Yes very good point. Was just stating the money that he is getting with help from the club was near that figure. Was poorly put across by myself.

Like most things on here, these figures are a made up assumption or grossly over exaggerated and inflated.
Well only a few people involved at each club should know what each player gets but when a player goes & talks to another club & that club ask the question what the other club is offering & that player tells them, it's not hard to find out what people are on

And in this scenario a player would never exaggerate their worth ...

I think the point being made, is that since there are so many people that these figures go past before they come to light, the sums are hardly spot on and sometimes just incorrect. It's like a game of chinese whispers.

Well 'shagshouli', when players are selling themselves to multiple clubs in the same competition, it doesn't take long for the word to get around as to what sort of packages opposing clubs have put on the table for the player in question to consider, that is of course if the player in question hasn't grossly over exaggerated or inflated what opposing clubs have offered..

You should know from previous experiences!

Abers have just confirmed Blackwell has signed for them in 2015, as has Alistair Kefford who is returning to the club after a year at Essendon's VFL side.
Kefford has no time for the VFL due to work commitments.

Any big name departures from Abers comfirmed as of yet? Aside from Fox & Prestia who are both off to the VFL with Coburg & Mal Michael, of course

Gee thanks Eric Pearce with 'The Late News'

As if Luke Blackwell was ever really going to consider offers from Strathmore FC, Keilor FC and St.Bernards FC just to name a few, when he had a $60,000 package from Aberfeldie FC on the table in front of him to collect.

That is a massive investment in one player and a fair percentage of any local football clubs player payment fund I would imagine.

It was officially announced before..the previous comments in this thread were speculation. There is a difference!
But no worries nevertheless.
Yeah nah him signing for Abers I'm surprised, I thought everyone said he'd go play at Bernards for nothing**

2nd in the sandover last year, plenty of runs on the board to say he is worth the top end salary. $60k over a 20 game season means it's $3k a game... Hard to believe any player is worth that, however if the market is prepared to pay it then I guess that's what he is worth.

The $60,000 package includes a MASSIVE sign on fee, match payments and a living allowance.

You are right, it is hard to believe that any one player is worth that, but as you said if the market is prepared to pay it, good luck to him.

It's a sign of the times, local clubs will have to continue to increase the amount of money they need to spend on outgoing player payments, if they wish to stay in the ever increasing competitive race for success of the ultimate kind.

I must admit I continue to wonder why Aberfeldie FC continues to shop at 'The Laurel' when 'Dan Murphy's' is just across the road, selling similar product, delivering similar results, just a whole lot cheaper.

'INTERESTING TIMES AHEAD FOR SOME CLUBS'

Great line there Shadow. Have to check the borders. Is the Dan's at the top of Bulla Rd in Strathmore? It must be as there is no pub in Strathmore.

Think he was referring to The Laurel and Dan's across from each other in Ascot Vale.
I understand what Shadow meant. You don't get me obviously. Referring to the expenditure, maybe Strathmore get a similar product at a cheaper rate as Shadow puts it by shopping at the cheaper outlet...get it now?

Tamer Abdallah moving back to Div 1, with what I hear about half a dozen more looking at other gigs. Expect a few more recruits to cover these gaps though.

Who are the other half dozen? Let's see if our lists marry up?

In regards to Luke Blackwell - it goes without saying it's outstanding news for the club – he's CV speaks for itself and his talent certainly complements our existing talent. He’s a multiple B&F winner at Claremont and runner up in the Sandover medal and has similar traits to St. Kilda legend Leonard!!

Shouldn’t we be focusing on those facts and that another quality footballer joins the EDFL instead of the utter rot being bandied around about his contract. All stated numbers and conditions are factually incorrect.

Having Al Keff back is huge and not just for his football ability - outstanding human!

In addition having Stiffy back in training will be a huge bonus for us. He's been very unfortunate with injury.
