They do not!

Most sides that are not in the finals are already doing some form of preseason by grandfinal day.

To clarify

It is in the standard AFL/AFLPA agreement that players receive 6 weeks annual leave - It can be varied - for example the 6 weeks may not be in one block.

That is not to say that players dont train independently during this time - Remember when I visited Windy Hill in October 2007 - And there was a group of 5 players doing individual training - That was before official training started in November.

I remember reading an article a couple of years ago about Mark and Jarrad McVeigh keeping up their own training schedules during time off. These blokes know what it takes to hit the park in peak condition. Wouldn't surprise me if a lot of them do the same thing.

Jay neagle excluded:p

You don't even get 8 weeks if you miss playing in September. Even then players will be doing their own training in readiness for the skin fold tests.

What you say is correct - No team training as a group - EFC played last game 01/09/2010 resumed training first week of November.

It is expected that players will do some training during their period of LEAVE.

Which would be a club imposed training program. Think about it, most would claim overtime or time in lieu if it was homework from your job.

The player I know, never stops training, it doesn't surprise me that he is renown for his dedication to training at our club.

Hey,

Has anyone taken any photos of James Hird at training and will give me permission to use it on my site?

I usually use PicApp.com but they have shut down their image search services.

It costs way too much for an image like this! Around $82!

If anyone has taken any similar images please contact me ASAP! I need images to go along with editorial content on my site!

unit.

I guess everybody looks fit this time of year, but Myers, Jetta and Willo are looking really fit. If those three step up their fitness levels the team will instantly improve.

Jetta is the one I reckon.

Get him part of the midfield rotations, as he is actually good in the centre clearances too. Fast off the mark, fearless at the ball and highly skilled.

he looks powerful around the shoulders now. I like that. If he gets up his core strength he could be a major weapon

We're going tags.

4 way? haha in all seriousness, if jetta and myers get up for a big year, look out! we will go from a side everyone says has no talent to a side with some of the best young talent in the comp.

Jetta Myers Melksham Colyer Reimers even Heppel are the keys to the mids and we all know about our spine.

Bring it on im pumped for the year!!

it's probably just preseason optimism kicking in, but do we finally seem to be getting some serious class around the ball?

It may be optimisim, but im hoping we do.

You can tell we have def turned a corner from a few years ago, these boys (under hopefully a much better coaching staff) should improve to a level where our side starts to compete with most teams over the next 2 years, after that, push harder towards that last day in september!
