Sorry to be wet blanket but there is not a viable positive interpretation of Hurley leaving if he did. He's structurally quite possibly the most important player at Essendon.

Hibberd on the other hand, yes I think he can be covered and even more so with Dea now in the picture.

Dea is not in the same class as Hibberd in every facet of the game - Rate Hibberd as one of the four untouchables - Hooker/Hurley/Heppell/Hibberd - The 4 H's

That trade would probably be close but it was Melbournes strategy last year to strengthen our Key forward and ruck area, I'd doubt theyd be backing away a year later especially after he's performing above expectations, well outsiders expectations anyway.

I'd doubt Melbourne would trade anyone that didn't request a trade, our VFL side is performing well on top with quite a few players playing very well every week but aren't getting games, I'm sure a few of them will seek more oppurtunity else where and they'd be plsyers involved in trade scenarios, the key Forwards and rucks are developing and I wouldn't think we'd entertain trading them.

Liam Mcbean from Richmond who has performed well at VFL the last few years (won the goal kicking tally last year?) has asked his management to explore his options this coming off season, he'd be one if look at if I was Essendon, Daniher and him both 200cm+ would be a handful for any side to match up on.

McBean is barely VFL standard - Seriously !

I think Dea, if not a more penetrating kick than Hibberd in his prime, is a more accurate one.

Hibberd was turning it over quite a lot in 2015.

I don't think we can take too much from 2015 when talking about hibberds kicking. He was well down on previous years but so were most of our team.

As much as i am a fan of Pig his was not great in 2015 and even 2014 was not as good as the previous year. Do note rate him as untouchable even though
i do not want him to leave.

We need McCluggage at the Dons. He's a special player unlike Brodie. Anyone who is worried about McCluggages inside game doesn't need to worry. He's an outside midfielder like gaff. Everyone thinks gaff is premier midfielder. He's only had 5 tackles this season. We can find contested ball winners later in the draft. Unlike classy ball users.

Has no right foot. Easily replaceable with Morgan or the 2nd rounder will get for him.
"Easily replaced"? He's played 4 VFL games and averaged 15 disposals in them. Hibberd is an excellent HB but seriously...

Pick 19 is going to be a very valuable commodity come draft day.

Will end up with a highly touted slider like Jy Simpkin or Jarrod Berry or someone rising rapidly like Luke Strnadica or Andrew McGrath.

Should Hibbo want out, taking another pick in the 20's to the draft will be awesome.

Have you seen how many times he's put our backline under pressure because he can't kick right footed? Morgan, Francis and Walla can all kick both feet and Walla and Morgan are quicker then him as well.

To be fair, Francis is the only comparable like for like replacement for Hibbo.

We could have anything we wanted with the Pope

Two blokes who haven't made their debut's in a year where we're missing a dozen top 30 players are going to suddenly become better than our best half back of the past 5 years? Think about what you're saying.

McCluggage and Gaff are nothing alike and play completely different roles for their respective teams. It's like saying Jake Long can replace Brent Stanton.

Morgan nor Tippa will replace Hibberd. Neither have, or will ever have, the strength and aerial prowess. To replace Hibberd we need a Scrimshaw/Berry type in the 2nd round or go for McGrath if we end up with two top ten picks.

We should be covered for aerial ability with Hartley, Hurley, Hooker and Francis.

And the year before

Only 3 of them can play in the same backline. We lose a lot of balance if a third or a half of our defence are liabilities in the air.
We haven't seen enough of Morgan to know if he's poor in the air. In 3 years Gleeson should have put a bit more muscle on. The only aerial liability is Walla and I think he might be moved onto a wing when his fitness gets better.
