Wouldn't mind grabbing a delisted KPP as a certainty and then possibly trying to grab one of Hartley, Brown, Uerbergang in the ND.

Would make the need for a KPP (early at 4/5) not as critical as we make it out to be.
Disappointing more kpp's haven't been delisted though.

Providing they pass medicals, I'd be happy to give one of Cameron Giles, Mason Shaw and then to a lesser extent, Jordan Bourke a contract.

Can we address what Worsfold or Dodoro said in an interview about targeting a young player in trading over the next few years? Well I'm going to.

This is based on some flawed thinking. Yes we missed out on players because of draft sanctions but the idea of having to have an even spread of players for each year is rigid and dumb thinking. If we AVERAGE two best 22 players every year then we have a good squad of players under 30. As well as averaging 1 player per year as depth, which can include DFA and mature age picks as well.

We should not be selling the farm to satisfy something like this. In the last two years we have added Zerrett, Laverde and Langford. Yes that isn't 4 but if injury allows them I can see all three being top 10 players at our club and Laverde being number 1.

If we need more from that time I suggest we do that slowly over the next eight years.

Who in your opinion was pur strongest delisted player
Kavs
Browne
Dalgleish
Aylett
Steinberg
I thought kavs was a bit hard done by as the others made way more mistakes, and I can not fathom how Hams, Obrien has survived. Thoughts

O'Meara, Wines, Prestia, J.Kelly

Tomlinson, Patton, McCarthy

Plenty of quality there and 5 of them would be looking to Victoria

O'Meara, Prestia, Kelly, Tomlinson and Patton are possibilities. McCarthy is contracted and Wines won't leave, their next captain.

Prestia is the one I'd want.

Patton re-signed until the end of 2017.

Even if there isnt alot of money to go around at Port?

He may aswell re sign now? Why the wait

FWIW i think he will stay aswell. Seems like that sort of guy. Maybe later on he might come back home similar to Dangerfield although he might be captain.

Ok so you where smarter than 99% of everyone working in recruiting at the time.
I can cop people saying they liked Nic Nat at 1 , there where a few around
saying that but there where none saying Watts would not make it or be any worse than pick 2, even more so after he finished the year playing midfield.
What they where saying was Nic Nat was a big risk because he could not kick and was a hit and miss mark but it would not matter as even if he did not
improve those areas he was always going to be a dominating ruck.
Anyway enough of Watts, he is what he is.

Francis is the best player in the draft.

I still had watts top 10 just not a first pick. I have Schache as the best this year with Francis no.2.

I think you're reading too much into this - its more a case of having a fair amount of salary cap to haul in a big fish given the players that have recently retired and the fact that Watson, Stanton, Goddard, Cooney will all retire in the next few years. We are in a good position to target someone like omeara and backend a contract.

Jack Package and possibly even ant555 what are your thoughts on Greg Clarke at 24/25?

Good sized body shape and endurance well suited to take over Stantons role on the wing. Would you consider him or someone else, say a Fiorini later?
So you don't think whipping boy jnr (gleeson) is good enough for the fulltime role of whipping boy (Stanton) when he departs.

But veterans as above don't come under the salary cap

That'll be awesome obtaining another player that kicks 85% of his time to the opposition. Prestia can setup the year for Carlton, Saints and Gold coast, Richmond since we play them twice, we can get him to secure another bottomed out year.

Well let's keep it for free agents so we don't have to give up picks then. Otherwise we're robbing Peter to pay Paul.

The other thing we can do is now sign Hooker and Hurley to 4 year front loaded contracts to make that even more potent.

Must nail this draft and the next like we did last year though.

Do you watch football?

Do you watch football?
Yeah I do and obtaining another guy that kicks straight to the opposition shouldn't be an essendon objective. Or have you missed all our turnovers in the past year that we are 2nd best in the league at doing. Furthermore if you ever watch Dion Prestia he may attain a fair amount of the ball but he has a temperament to kick to the opposition. Why do we need him?

But who is the goal kicking kickass forward?
Michael Hurley stop playing him in the back line and put him back to his proper position. Like the goal against North Melbourne last year from about 60m out?

Hurley is a natural (and All Australian) defender, suggesting playing him forward again (that experiment failed years ago just fyi) is just blatantly stupid. If he occasionally pushes up the ground from CHB to help the midfield and forwardline out then thats fine (as it increases pressure and makes it harder for opposition to get the ball out of our forward half) but he is not a forward.

No. He was average up forward. Was a beast down back. If he goes forward I'll eat my hat
