So with Carlisle now requesting a trade and apparently willing to work with the club to get us the best possible return in a trade. Apparently strong rumours the Saints are his preferred new home (they're apparently offering him 700k per season), so with that being said is it too much to hope they're willing (as previously rumoured) to offer up Pick 5?

iirc Richo was an assistant at EFC when we drafted Carlilse so I could see him nominating St.Kilda.

edit - He's a good bloke Richo reckon he'll help in getting us a good deal.

With Jake out of the way now, hopefully we can focus on re-signing/delisting the other out of contract players now. One of Steiny and Pears will be retained.

Pears for me.

Was getting pantsed by Fasolo in the beginning and then stopped his influence for the rest of the game there is still some hope for Pears imo.

Carlisle leaving puts extra pressure on us making sure we secure at least one of Hartley or M. Brown somehow (as well as another KPP).

B: Baguley Hurley M.Brown/Hartley
HB: Gleeson Hooker Hibberd
OR
B: Baguley Hurley Gwilt
HB: Gleeson M.Brown/Hartley Hibberd (with Hooker forward)

Looks a hell of a lot better than..
B: Hurley
HB: Gwilt

Who's had the better year Hartley or Brown?

They've both been good. Although Brown gets thrown forward every now and then.

We don't have to limit ourselves to only these two I suppose, there'd be similar types in the SANFL/WAFL. In the case of Brown, he seems very ready, whereas Hartley was only delisted because Collingwood had so many KPDs and he was injured the entire time really.

One of the Mckay brothers could be around at our second pick right? One of them plus getting Brown and Hartley with later picks and we could at least have some depth in KPP's again.

Harrison proabably won't be. Hes gonna be a player I reckon. The other, Ben I think his name is would be a reach at our second.

Our second might end up being used to secure Bennell anyway. Ben McKay kicked 4 goals in the TAC cup the other week so Pick 23 might not be a huge stretch but yeah would prefer using our 3rd rounder on him.

Fair enough, I haven't really seen any of the draftees so I'll take your word for it. We could also offer a list/rookie spot for John Butcher? Yes yes I know how ridiculous it sounds and how bad he is kicking for goal but maybe we could play him as a tall defender? We know he's a good mark at least.

Trade hypothetical where everyone wins
Carlton Get: Carlisle Lose: Henderson, pick 37
Geelong Get: Henderson & 37 Lose: pick 8
Essendon Get: Bennell Lose: Carlisle, Pick 25
GC Get: Pick 8 & pick 25 Lose: Bennell

Awful for Essendon.

Bennel is a loose cannon. Do not want

No need for us to give up Pick 23 if anything it should look something like:

CARL IN/ESS OUT: Carlisle
ESS IN/GCS OUT: Bennell + Pick 19
GCS IN/GEEL OUT: Pick 9
GEEL IN/CARL OUT: Henderson

Nah not really, Watson, Goddard and Heppell aren't exactly poster children for defensive or supporting work. Goddard should be traded, carrying on yelling and pointing when he's selective about chasing or going when it's his turn is a horrible example for a young list. Not to mention his sure kicking has failed him.

Hooker, Hurley, Hocking and Myers are our strongest on field leaders because they lead through action.

Goddard's telling off his own this year was very poor, agree, he needs to concentrate on getting a kick and shut his trap..It's not a good look....Plus what happened to his kicking lately, has been shanking it something shocking...If we could get anything for him I would not be against letting him go...

So Josh Hall is going to Penrith Panthers (NRL) eth-dog?

Disappointing because he seemed like a real talent.

Gold Coast also delisted Louis Herbert, Jared Ellis and rookie Tyrone Downie from there list.

With Dixon and Bennell set to depart, that'd all most do the Suns you'd think?

How are we going to lose Carlisle for free when he wont want to play for carlton?
If we cannot reach a deal with St Kilda or North, he is going to Carlton.

If he nominates Carlton, then he is going there for free. At most, we will get a mid to end first round pick for Carlisle in a shallow draft. I would rather Bennell.

If we trade pick 23 (likely 25) in a shallow draft and Carlisle for Bennell in the outlined scenario, then that is a reasonable deal, considering Carlisle's WADA uncertainty as well.

Nothing wrong with Mckernan and Daniher forward. We need to find a good 3rd tall though.

Alot of those top teams Eagles, Freo, Hawks and even dogs/richmond havnt been that tall this year

I also think Hooker and Daniher forward will be our best option...Hooksy has really blossomed there..Smack has been good as well....If someone is going to offer Leuny over 500k and draw band 1 well it might as well be us....

Im sure there will be other clubs interested. I just cant see Carlisle wanting to play for Carlton for any reason he hates playing in shit sides and losing. Stkilda on the way up or north hovering around. Still think Geelong or Richmond could have a play.

Carlisle and Bennelll are equal value IMO.

Why do we have to draw band 1?

Leuy seems like he wants out if Martin is staying. Or is he restricted?
