Nup.
If the USA don't withdraw then UEFA will have a preliminary vote and that winner will definitely smash the US
At the moment the USA look at both cups and feel the can do better in 2018 because the competition is so intense. As they look at '22 its less encouraging for them as Australia will dominate AFC voting:cool:
The USA, despite having a very impressive list of gridiron stadiums in their bid will have to wait till '26 where they will win unopposed

Laughable - Australia will dominate AFC voting?

What - with our 0 voting exco members?

Who are our competitors in Asia?

Qatar - 1 exco member
Korea - 1 exco member
Japan - 1 exco member.

You have very very strange logic mate. Looks to me like we're the ones without a certain vote. When I say certain, I mean CERTAIN - ON PAIN OF BEING DISMISSED FROM YOUR POST CERTAIN.

Re: ENGLAND will withdraw its candidature to host 2022 World Cup if the USA drops bid for 2018 World

It's not rocket science and makes virtually no difference to the FFA's bid.

If the USA pull out of 2018, that leaves only European bids for that World Cup. Which means that, with 2018 in Europe, all the European bids are ineligible for 2022 - so it's not just England that's out of 2022 but all the other Europeans as well.
So all it does is formalises what everyone's been expecting all along - Europe for 2018, 2022 somewhere else.

Just because you don't understand the situation as well as me doesn't mean I'm wrong.
Japan will be out in round one-Japan will vote Australia
SK will be out in Round 2-they will vote Australia
Australia and USA will go to the final round in round 3

Just waiting for your reply which will be based on a further lack of information-because I'm not spelling it out:)

Wrong. ASEAN has an exco committee member and any ASEAN member will always vote for Australia as it is effectively a home World Cup for them (that's why Indonesia has thrown its support behind Australia also).

Australia is virtually guaranteed 100% all of Asia's votes should it get to the final round vs the US and most of the UEFA votes with stronger diplomatic and political ties.

Keep dreaming McCrann - I am pretty sure you will have some nightmares come December 4th.

We all know that Qatar has bought a block of votes.

South Korea is now rapidly catching up to them, all of a sudden, they are being considered a serious contender when at the start of the calendar year they were well behind.

There's a very strong chance that Australia will go out in the first or second rounds for the simple reason that we haven't tied up a block of votes like some of the other nations.

I agree that we might have a string of second vote preferences - but we may not get far enough to take advantage of that.

Frank Lowy's latest language indicates he has little confidence in us progressing too far in the voting.

He is already priming everyone to start pointing the finger at the AFL.

Old Frankie boy has almost conceded, other countries are outdoing us in the bribery and pork barrelling stakes. I'll be camping out at 442 on 4th December to see the fireworks and meltdown.:D

At the end of the day, the bribery and pork barrelling is what will sink us - far, far more than any AFL shenanigans.

It's a dirty business, and we're much better off without it.

Enjoy it on tv.

No doubt.

Am already counting down the days until the 2022 AFL season.

Promises to be a massive, worldwide spectacle that one.

The news is good - you won't have to wait for 2022.

The beauty about the AFL is we get to enjoy such a wonderful comp, in our own country, each and every year.

The beauty about melbourne rules is we get to enjoy such a limp comp, in our own state, each and every year. (Modified for accuracy purposes) :thumbsu:

england withdrew beacuse they and everyone else knows that europe is goin to get 2018. you would have to be a grade a moron to think that fifa would host a wc away from europe 3 times in a row given its usually 1 in europe, 1 elsewhere.

nothing more in it than that, although you consipacy theorists will im sure create something

What the AFL does not provide is the pride and passion associated with representing your country at the highest level.

Ask any athlete who has been to the olympics, a cricketer who has won a baggy green cap, a wallaby playing in the bledisloe cup etc and they will all say the same thing, nothing comes close than achieving your best and representing 22 million aussies on the world stage.

This is something that no afl footballer can say he has done because there is nobody to play against. The closest they will get it to kick a soccer ball around on a rugby field in ireland.

Don't confuse your own desperation with facts. You conveniently ignore the fact that FIFA delegates visited Qatar and labelled their bid as having "logistical problems". And as for your assertion that South Korea are a serious contender, the less said about that the better.

We have the ASEAN vote tied up, the Oceania vote tied up and most of the UEFA votes tied up. Once Qatar, S Korea and Japan get knocked out, we have those tied up also. And let's not forget that the Paraguyuan football association are on record stating that Australia is the best bid for 2022.

Frank Lowy's latest language is a "we've got the bid in the bag suck on it AFL". Of course in your deluded mind you interpret it the other way around.

US has now pulled out of the 2018 bidding, so we know for sure now 2018 will be in Europe.

Frank Lowy's latest language is his usual rubbish mate, whinging about how Football makes things hard for soccer

Yet your the one constantly whinging about Australia hosting a World Cup in 2022 - interesting. Piss off back to Port Adelaide mate while you can enjoy it, Adelaide United are a bigger club then your club now - enjoy them while they last, they will fold within 5 years.
