FIFA need to do something about this rolling on the ground in agony from a simple push bullshit. Forget what the AFL does wrong for a second, the one thing they do right I feel is we can hear the umpires try to rationalize their decisions,no matter how wrong they are. For me in association football, there are too many times we have no idea what the referees are so animated about or what kind of discussions they are having with the players. They have microphones attached to them, so why aren't we allowed to hear it?

You just know if an Arsenal player flicked the ball into the back of an opponents head after a goal its a minimum yellow, but then again Michael Oliver missed a lot of things in todays match. Hopefully next time he is paid bags of money to go ref in the Saudi league he can use that money to get his eyes checked.

I mean there's so much going on in that moment, you expect him to be watching everything? Seriously this bullshit needs to stop over the referee. He's got 22 people trying to cheat and deceive him all the time, can't pick up everything. Bring in a 2nd ref maybe, but stop moaning about the referee every god damn week. It's boring.

Would have taken a draw before the game, but feels a little bit more than that given the lateness of the equaliser.

Last few weeks have shown a bit of a weakness for us breaking down an ultra low block. No Foden or KDB for a lot of that hasn't helped but I think we're moving the ball around too slowly. When we're at our best we're zipping the ball around from side side, and in doing that we're creating gaps that can be exploited.

Seeing a lot of Arsenal supporting heads falling off online. Not quite sure why.

He was throwing the ball back to the centre line. Gabriel should have been booked for blocking it and delaying the restart.

Gooners get away with another one.

Four points away (seven if you include Villa) from Spurs and City is I’m sure something every fan would take.

So proud of the team for the way we defended when it all went out the window. Timber may have completed no passes but he was one of our best for sure.

Arteta does need to curb these disciplinary problems, irrespective if they’re soft yellows or not. Thankfully we have a slightly easier stretch of games coming up where our absences won’t be as missed as our last couple of games.

The main issue is that we’ve had a player sent off for kicking the ball away in 2 of our late 3 games.

And before everyone comes at me for ‘moaning about the referee’, I’ll preface it by saying that both decisions were 100% correct. Kicking the ball away is a yellow card offence, both Trossard and Rice were on yellows when they did it. No arguments from me there.

But, in both of these games, our opponents have also kicked the ball away after the whistle on multiple occasions. Did they get a yellow card for it? Nope. Not one. I think that’s a very fair reason to be frustrated, and I think if it were happening to anyone else’s team in this thread, they’d quite rightly be pissed about it too.

Maybe I am just a one eyed nuffie, but I feel like it’s a pretty valid point I’m making.

I just want consistency. If we’re really sending players off for kicking the ball away, then that’s fine. But it needs to be consistently applied, and right now it isn’t.

Both of arsenals goals could have been chalked off, one could have been a foul the other was assisted by the ref. Am I mad that they weren't? No. I think you can argue for both being fine. But sure only focus on the things that didn't work out for you cause it helps cope.

Can we have an adult conversation about this without everything being a ‘cope’?

There’s no coping from me, anywhere. The result is what it is, we probably got more than we deserved out of that game, we move on.

Why even bring it up then? What is it with soccer fans and being the absolute biggest sooks ever when it comes to referees?
Arsenal had some decisions go for them, some against them. Happens every single game.

Doesn't sound great about Rodri. We've done well without him for most of this season so far. But will be a.big blow.of he's out for a y decent time.
There was an article in The Guardian yesterday about a potential player strike because of to many games. Rodri played 62 games or something last season.

Especially with the expanded CL and now FIFA want a club World Cup with group stages.

It really is getting silly. Little wonder players break down

I didn’t bring it up. It was brought up by other posters and I got involved in the conversation.

Football fans get up in arms about referees because their decisions have a much bigger impact on the game than they might in some other sports.

Eg. In AFL, you can’t be sent off, and a free kick in front of goal has far less of an impact than a penalty does in football.

Red cards change the entire dynamic of a game, which is simply not something that can happen in AFL.

I guess don't kick the ball away and it won't be an issue.
Again, no arguments here.

But how can you send off one player for it and ignore it when another player does it?

That’s the million dollar question that everyone seems to be ignoring.

Arsenal fans get decisions go their way… crickets.

Arsenal fans have yellow cards awarded for yellow card offences… incessant whinging.

Arsenal fans also struggle to understand that referees don’t see every single infringement that happens during a game. Much easier to cope by citing a conspiracy.

Their fans are fast turning into an army of Arteta’s. Whinging little bitches.

Sometimes I think the ref issues the card for the sum of two parts - ie. Trossard aimlessly clatters in and the ref gives him the benefit of the doubt but then he kicks it away as well and ref runs out of patience.

It was dumb by Trossard

I guess like an decisions there's always incontinencies, just don't give the ref the opportunity to do it.
