Dodo's a campaigner and I can't wait for him to fu** off... but do you guys really want to be the PSD club?

Of course not.

PSD is a calculated risk. It's fairly widely acknowledged that best case for Carlton is to get this out of the way and move on to the third target with clear air.

However. Your implication that if that fails (due to utterly unreasonable behaviour from you know how) and then going the PSD route is somehow dirty and immoral.

This circumstance is EXACTLY the purpose of the PSD. If Saad goes to the PSD, the responsibility rests squarely at Essendon.

Well that's not true.

Yes, it is.

Carlton will make a fair offer for Saad, under the circumstances that he is uncontracted and wants out because he doesn't want to be there. That is miles away from what a fair offer would be for a contracted player who was not eager to escape.

If Essendon refuses that, and continues to demand a level of trade you'd expect for a contracted player (actually at this point more than that), then Essendon is responsible.

It's not rocket science.

Carlton will make a fair offer for Saad

So you're happy to assume with 100% certainty that Carlton will make a fair offer for Saad.

Yet also that it's on Essendon to accept said offer, irrespective of whether EFC believe it to be fair?

Who is the arbiter of fair? If you offered a 3rd rounder because Saad was once a rookie draft pick, is that 'fair'?

Or perhaps, it's called a negotiation for a reason. Involving two parties.

One of the parties with a 20 year record of behaving like a total dick.

If this deal doesn't get done, I think the smart money has a good idea who will have wrecked it.

I particularly enjoy how upset you get about someone you've never met, spoken to, or dealt with. And that you can make judgements about said person.

Whilst SOS, who knows, has met, spoken to and dealt with Dodoro seems to quite like him. SOS even said it was up to Carlton to offer fair value, and that Pick 7 would have to be on the table given it's what Carlton has.

But of course, Laphroaig from BigFooty who's never met Dodoro or worked in AFL list management can tell us how it all goes down in advance.

I am not upset at all, but thanks for your concern.

OUT:
Daniher
Lions get salary up to trigger 7.
Dons trade 7 to Lions for 16 & 17 (will become ~19 & 20 once FA comp is completed) & a salary dump player

Fantasia
Bonner & Future 2nd from Port (keep their picks this year for Jones bid) for Saad & 41 (additional Jones points)

Saad
Saad & 20 for 7 (now 8) & 27 (~31)
Rates Saad @ 13.

IN:
Caldwell
EFC 2021 2nd

Dunkley
Adel get Pick 8 & 19 & Port future 2nd
WBD get Pick 2, EFC future 1st, Pick ~31
EFC get Dunkley, WBD 2020 1st (~16)^

Wright
EFC future 3rd

^With 6 and ~16 in this years draft taken, we are within the rules for trading a future 1st.

Bold strategy as Essendon completely step out of the 2021 draft.
But we'd get a known quantity in Dunkley, plus 2 semi-known quantities in Caldwell and Wright.

Should look at Matthew Kennedy if they don't get Dunkley.
Kennedy would be fairly down our list.

Dunkley
Constable
Brodie
Ross
Kennedy

About how i'd approach it in terms of preferences considering Caldwell in.
Flip is to also look at targeting a crop of kids. If we land 3 picks in a row - O'Driscoll & Carroll on top of a classier mid (Bruhn/Perkins) or a KP player.

I don't see the appeal in Kennedy after the years at GWS & Carlton.

Whatever the actual trade specifics are in the end, Dodo needs to get Saad done fast.
He's checked out, so it just needs to get done.
Dodo needs to realise that he's going to be a busy boy this trade period and needs to use the result of the Saad deal to get others back in, so he can't afford to wave his old fella around for 2 weeks like he usually does.

It takes time because its theatre. If you don't think these guys have already been talking and negotiating and pretty much have most of the deals done by now you are kidding yaself

More like Carlton need to get the Saad deal done fast. Carlton are the shoppers.

Daniher out, Pick 7 in
Saad Out + Future 3rd out, Pick 8 in
Fantasia + 43 out , Pick 26 + 52 in
Pick 8 out, Picks 16 + 17 in
Pick 16 + 26 out, Caldwell + 39 in
Future 1st + 17 + 39 out, Dunkley and Future 3rd

Loose Daniher, Saad, Fantasia, 43, Future 1st and 3rd
Get Dunkley, Caldwell, 7, 52 and Future 3rd

Keep pick 6 and 7 which means they don't need to use a 1st next year!!

Dogs then trade 12 with the Adelaide for 20 + 29, meaning they can use 17 + 20 (with some left over points) to cover for JUH bid and still get to use 29 plus the rest of their picks.

Carlton fans "waaah half back flankers aren't worth first rnd picks" lols

Do you fans not realise that you are getting a very good player and one of the best rebound defenders in the league. When Saad is rebounding from half back and delivering the ball on a platter to McKay/Casboult Carlton fans will look back on pick 7 like it's a bargain.

I remember Dogs fans saying this about the Stringer trade.

Bris to pay $750,000 x 5 years, They would be insane! Band 2 or 3.

Saad Out + Future 3rd out, Pick 8 in, Pick 27 more like it.

Fantasia + 43 out , Pick 26 + 52 in, Third round more like it.

Pick 8 out, Picks 16 + 17 in. Would have to be Pick 6 for Bris likely Picks 18 + 19 after FA

7 rates him at approximately the same value as Treloar who is on the table for 5. Particularly with Saad out of contract and publicly desperate to escape.

The immediate consensus among commentators was that Saad's value was a late first. 7 is paying overs, but the guy meets one of Carlton's specific needs so after the dick measuring contest is finished nobody is going to be too outraged if it goes down that way.

However. Any supporter would and should be absolutely filthy if the Club does not do everything possible to avoid paying overs.

Long term trade success is more about acquiring and manipulating small gains than it is about big wins. You don't just ditch 5 to 10 first round places because you can't be bothered trying to work around it.

Western Bulldogs come away like absolute bandits. Pick 2, Ess future 1st (probable top 3 pick) + pick 31 for Dunks & 12? Where TF do we sign? Adelaide getting mauled in the deal though.
