I don’t want Essendon to forfeit, we’d smash them.

Thank you for bringing balance to the discussion. Not advocating everything is hunky dory, and potentially AFL may find McKenna broke a rule, but to think all players are squeaky clean are naive. Unfortunately McKenna was the first case. Also this whole of line training, it has already been disclosed that many clubs are doing the same thing (pies, tigers, blues) so they are all working at risk.Do you realise the Melbourne players were dobbed on? They themselves didn’t self report.
Why are you making it look like the club is responsible? Self-reported lol. Please.Melbourne Self reported, did Essendon?
Oh so now Essendon tried to cover it up, but the outstanding Melbourne Football Club were transparent? Do you know how ridiculous what you're saying sounds? The two Melbourne players told the club straight away and didn't train with the main group, Essendon tried to cover it up but a positive test exposed them
Massive difference, if you can't see that then that says more about you than anything else
Now Melbourne pays because of them which is bullshit. I bet if it was Richmond being forced to play 3 games in 7 days you'd feel different
Hahaha ok so we self-report when Zerk-Thatcher was suspended, but suddenly decided to go rouge and avoid self-reporting for McKenna? We self reported , unlike Essendon. As a club we ARE responsible for our players In ensuring the rules are followed.
Stop playing the victim again, at the moment the guy has offered a positive test. Hopefully it is not the case.
But he did go house hunting and also went visiting friends , the house hunting may be ok due to vague rules but the friends visit was against the rules the AFL set out.
EFC nuffies getting all defensive again. EFC did not self report.
Yep. And your club has covered itself in glory over the past decade. Your supporters are completely in denial about the whole drug cheating fiasco, even to the point of wanting Hird back at the club!? Wtf? There's only a few Melb supporters bum hurt about not getting a forfeit. Let's split the points and move on. Both teams are middle of the road at best. So wtf are we fighting over here?
Essendon cannot field a team = FORFEIT

Essendon can field a team. They just informed the club about what exposure they had and Melbourne wouldn't want to play against them. Are you forcing Melbourne to play against a team that may have more than one player with the virus?

To be fair. There's only a few fans dumb enough to want Hird back.Yep. And your club has covered itself in glory over the past decade. Dees fans seem to really want us to forfeit this game
We're not that good.....are the Dees that bad?
Zero chance a forfeit is going to happen. For any team.
Yeah, take the forfeit and with any luck it keeps Goodstuff Goodwin in a job for another year longer
De fault? Woo-hoo! The two sweetest words in the English language!Hey if we're lucky he might just forfeit his way to a premiership
You hoped they did before reading this thread? You monster! After reading this thread I really hope no Melbourne players test positive at some point this season....
Virus trolling.....how pathetic! What should have club done then?
Hope this happens to another club so you know what it's like.
we're so alike. I get why you're nervous. If it's a choice between a forfeit or playing Essendons top up players I think you know what option Melbourne supporters would prefer
So, the team that tanked now wants a free 4 points without actually playing a game.
Essendon players have been told that only one player has been deemed a close contact of Conor McKenna following a Department of Health and Human Services investigation.
While the player’s identity is yet to be confirmed, a source close to Essendon said key personnel at the club had been informed only one player is a close contact of the Irish Dons defender, who tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday.
It means the Bombers could still field a close to full-strength side against Carlton on Saturday night.
And how many of those two Melbourne players tested positive to covid-19?Lol.
Our opponents Melbourne had two players suspended for breaching protocols. But yeah it's just Essendon.
Having a player test positive and not turning up to a scheduled game kind of sums up Essendon too doesn't it?
