Sydney aside, this is the game I was looking forward to the most. Should be a cracker at the G. Carlton really need to get a finals win with the current group after two first up losses the past two years.

This.

You can't go past a Carlton V Essendon in an elimination final for a huge, spiteful game of footy.

The result will be great no matter what. A Carlton win means a tough West Coast V Carlton game the following week, while an Essendon victory would make this site pretty enjoyable for a number of obvious reasons.

Just checked the radar looks like the rain has just about passed Melb and dosn't look like there is a lot behind it.

Any one close like to stick their head out a window to confirm as it's a bit hard to do that from Syd.

Bombers by 8 points Zakka to kick the winning goal ala Anzac day.

Reckon Carlton will go out today with something to prove after losing the past two years they will go out with alot of passion whether Essendon can stand tall is a different question
With Hurley having the week of for his foot and coming of some good form he could reak havoc.

Surely neutrals would rather watch Carlton vs West Coast next week... Essendon playing a final over there will be laughable!

Fairly sure Essendon won their last final in W.A.
About to head off to the pub, meet the boys, then ground, should be a good one. Unfortunately carl by 35.

Hmm... yeah, totally.

Both sides record against West Coast this season:

Essendon 16.10.106
West Coast 12.18.90

Round 8 2011 @ Etihad

Carlton 10.7.67
West Coast 15.13.103

Round 14 2011 @ Etihad

Due to Carlton's cosy draw which has been a driving force in propelling them up the ladder this year, they have been fortunate enough to avoid playing West Coast in Perth during the H&A season. Essendon have played the Eagles in Perth and while the Eagles were deserved winners on the day, the Bombers (missing Hurley & Pears amongst others and then losing two players, including their most important player in Watson, during the game to concussion) led this game at Half Time.

Carlton on their home turf were obliterated by the Eagles in every facet of the game.

No doubt neutrals want to see the Blues get up. If Carlton win they can go to Perth and knock off WCE. Essendon are rubbish and simply making up the numbers. While they will give themselves a chance against a Blues team hammered by injuries to KPP (Kruezer, Waite and Jamison), if they do get past round 1 of the finals they really are wasting everyone;s time and will get smashed again by WCE.

cosy draw we played the bottom 4 sides once this year and 7 of the bottom 9 just once

I think we'll learn today what this Blues team are made of. 3 straight first round exits would be humiliating. Regardless of what happens, i hope they go in all guns blazing, i'm confident they will. You'd think with their pride on the line and their coaches job on the line, they go out with something to prove.

The truth!!!

8 years ago, and you still think that carries weight? You are clutching at a straw that is not even there!

You're pretty naive aren't you. You pull someone up for bringing up our last final in Perth yet you are quick to bring up our last final interstate as if it means something.

Lets talk about our last game in Perth shall we? We were right in the game until Jobe got his head smashed in and was put out of the game.

Most West Coast supporters and pretty juch all neutrals agreed that the umpires murdered us. I think it was 8-9 goals directly from moronic umpiring decisions.

We were missing Hurley, Hocking and Pears. Hurley and Hocking are our two most important players with the exception of Watson (who himself went off injured).

I would be happy to bet any amount of money you like that if we do play them over there in a final it will be nothing like 2009, as you claim it will be.
