According to The Sun, Anil Ambani (who was in talks with Newcastle about buying them) is no longer interested in them and has moved onto discussions with Bill Kenwright about buying Everton. Not really a good source, but I would have thought it would have been much easier for him to buy Newcastle than us, when you consider the ownership structure and Ashley looking like he's going to go and also it would be much easier for him to make money at Newcastle.

Yeah.. well there were stories about him for a while.. Also I think his son was spotted at Evertons game v PSV.

It's in the Liverpool Daily Post now, which is up there with the more reliable news regarding Everton.

Intermediates representing Ambani have been in contact with Goodison owner Bill Kenwright, intent on arranging a meeting between the two parties.

Ambani, said to be the sixth richest man in the world with a fortune of £24bn, has targeted Everton after failing in an attempt to take control at Newcastle United.

You beauty. Great game to win and thank god Timmy's back!

Solid throughout, Fellaini showed a bit in the first half but was quiet in the second. Everyone did their bit, except really for Jagielka, who had a shocker.

How many throwins and corners did we try to give them in the last ten? Bloody hell talk about dangerous. Before that corner came in I spotted Cahill and followed his run, sure enough he nods it home. Brilliant stuff.

Much more positive signs. Perhaps on the rise now.

TIMMY!

Honestly, you guys should have won 3-0 as both Stoke goals were a joke (an own goal says a lot). You could do with proper defensive coach.

How was Ameobi against you guys? :p

I disagree with 3-0 but Everton should have won by more than 1 goal. Fuller scored but it was disallowed, i believe it should have stood and then there was a shout for a penalty that could have been given to Stoke. You blokes also deserved a penalty.

No and No. No penalty for them and Fuller tripped Yobo, end of story.

Ameobi's move to Stoke went **** up so he is still at Newcastle. I don't know what's wrong with the defence so far this season, they just seem to be making alot of silly errors that could be put down to poor concentration more than anything. I also can't really see Stoke scoring many goals this season that won't be from Rory Delaps throw ins.

**** up, huh? I'm getting excited!

Looked like Ameobi only stayed for the second half of last season. You have to love Dave on Setanta Sports. "Is it Ameobi, like?"

Their positioning looked pretty poor, I must say.

Stoke can always consider bringing Sir stanley Matthews back from the dead. ;)

Hi everyone, i'm new to this section of BF but now i've found this thread I will keep an eye on it.

Hopefully we can beat Hull tonight in preparation for our clash with the Red Sh*te next sunday.

Go Toffees!!!!!!!

Damn you fox sports

Came back from 2 nil down, so attack-wise I think we're going strong. Our defence needs MAJOR work. Haven't kept a clean sheet al year, and so far have only had one game under 2 goals conceded.

Timmy scores again, always great news, and Osman gets on the board as well.
Hoping Saha continues the slight spark he showed last night and that we can sort out the defence, if we can, we're well on our way.

So whats that.. another bad game for Neville and Jagielka - Too bad Jacobsen is injured... Baines had a poor game. THe guy can't build up any confidence because Moyes is so bloody reluctant to play him - he's got his back 4 in his head automatically of Neville/Hbbert - Yobo - Jagielka - Lescott.

It is like Jagielka has nude pictures of Moyes with a goat or something.

lol yeah in the portsmouth game (i think) baines was really good pushing up the left flank, and diverting some focus from arteta.

Our defencive structure is abismall, at times it looks as if its just every man for himself trying to get in the way.

Absolutely dreadful performance. We will take 2-2 after being 2-0 down but very poor overall.

That is now 3 own goals in our last 3 matches. That must be some kind of record.

We will get spanked this week. I would probably look to start Saha who gave us a spark when he came on. As far as the defense is concerned.......... Something has to be done. Would you drop Howard?

To be fair to Jags, Lescott has been poor all season. His game against Pompey should have lead to him being dropped...

Castillo and Fallanianaianaaian (sorry, still can't his surname yet) have still got to come to grips with the pace of the premiership.

With the derby coming up this weekend, I'm praying that moyes makes defending his top priority. I'd take a nil all draw with ease. We need clean sheets!!

Another very dissapointing performance on saturday. The scary thing was Tony Hibbert was close to our best player:eek:. Very dissapointed that Phil Neville didn't track Torres's run into the penalty box for their first goal, as we really dropped our heads after that. I thought Cahill was stiff to get a red card for his tackle on Alonso and there is no chance that he will get the card revoked, so he misses games against Newcastle, Arsenal and Man United.
To make us all flap some more, I think we will be eliminated from Europe this week, can only see us getting points against Newcastle in the next month, Fellaini is some time away from adapting to the premiership, we don't have a CEO, very little information from the board about progress on the new stadium and the contract situation with the manager seems no closer to being resolved.
Also while Mike Ashley has been actively looking overseas for a new buyer, Bill Kenwright's "24/7 search" for a new owner seems to have only involved him opening up a new play. According to an article over the weekend, he has yet to formally approach any investment firm about trying to find us a buyer. If he doesn't want to sell the club, that is fine, he is quite entitled to do that as they are his shares, but don't tell everyone that you are actively looking for a buyer and will sell your shares, if you have no intention of doing so.

Theres only one Jagielka... one Jagielka! Who should be shot out of a cannon and not allowed to play again.

Also, Agree on the Bill Kenwright thing.. he's saing he wants buyers to keep everyone happy but isn't looking for anyone to take over. What a prick. Ruining the club atm... and our form isnt helping.

Firstly let me say I thought Hibbert was solid enough on Saturday, but his selection shows how low on confidence we are at the moment. To drop Castillo, put Neville into midfield and bring in Hibbert who has no match fitness or played any match this season shows a very negative mindset from the start. I thought the Yak did not have his mind on the job Saturday but I would be pretty disillusioned if I was the Yak and basically had the ball hoofed to me every opportunity.

I thought the ref did us no favors but we were very poor. I am not very confident going into games with Manchester United and Arsenal.

A stat that does not make for good reading is the performances of Everton under David Moyes against "The big 4" In away matches.

Away played 26 won 0 drew 9 LOST 17

That away record is appauling. Just trying to remember when we actually last beat the big four away.
-Liverpool would have been when Kevin Campbell scored the winner around the 98/99 season and gerrard got sent off for nearly killing Gary Naysmith. We also beat them in 1995/96 when Kanchelskis scored a double.
-Arsenal would have been 2-1 around 1996 at highbury, with another Kanchelskis goal. I think we lost our last 8 visits to highbury.
-Chelsea have owned us since the premier league started even when they were shit. Paul Rideout got a winner at stamford bridge sometime in the mid 90's.
-Manchester United, the only wins i can remember are the 1-0 at goodison in 2004/05 and the FA cup in 1995. They own us every year unfortunatly.

http://www.liverpooldailypost.co.uk...pienaar-arrested-over-assault-64375-21922695/

EVERTON star Steven Pienaar was arrested by police after an alleged assault at his Liverpool home.

Police were called to the South African midfielder’s Sefton Park flat at 6am on Sunday.

The 26-year-old, from Johannesburg, was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a woman when he went to a police station with his solicitor later that day.

Pienaar, who has 34 caps for his country, was released on bail pending further inquiries.

He must report back to a Merseyside police station at a later date.

Pienaar is currently out of action having broken his big toe in the Goodison friendly with PSV Eindhoven on August 9.

He was recently given the all-clear to start doing extra fitness work and hopes to be back in first-team action soon.

He signed for the Blues after spending last year on loan from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.

Last season he turned out 35 times, scoring two goals.

David Moyes snapped him up on a three-year deal for a fee in the region of £2m.

The club today declined to comment on the arrest.

A Merseyside police spokesman said: “A 26-year-old man from Mossley Hill was arrested at around 11am yesterday on suspicion of assault.

“He has been bailed pending further inquiries.”

Not the kind of thing you like to be reading. I was only thinking a few weeks ago we desperately need Piennar back in the side.
