Our coaches are to soft. To busy to talk up the positives and gloss over our flaws.

Our goal kicking has been shit for 3 seasons. But we didn’t want to say or do anything about it because it might become an issue.

3 years later we still have the same issues but don’t want to dwell on it incase it becomes a bigger issue.

Ffs. Point fingers at individuals and get it sorted. Doing the exact same thing every week and expecting different results is the definition of dumb.

An extra 50 shots at training under no pressure achieves nothing.

I’m sure Clarkson tells his players how awesome they are everyday

Tell me the saints would be dumb enough to give him a 2 year extension without performance clauses. When there was norisk of loosing him to another club this yea
Very good point there Flying....I seldom see or hear this mentioned.

You can't help wonder what Richo's contract would state as far as performance clauses go.

Surely there'd be KPI's covering various aspects of his coaching portfolio.

He’s already done it once, would he do it again?
Did he?

He did set up a scheme of arrangements where past players accepted a pittance of what they were owed to save the club.

I recall Meehan saying how they turned up and he said you either accept this or there's no more club tomorrow.

I was a kid, so perhaps someone can elaborate?

Pretty sure he also networked at Carlton Social Club for many years.

For an answer of the skills at Sandy question. From one of the players.

Hey mate, interesting read that was. I do notice it a bit that there is more focus on structures than skills itself but we are supposed to do that in our own time before training. They usually do a 5 min drill of kicking in 3's anyway and that's enough for the session, but pure skills or 'craft' is definitely something we do before and after training. I think the gist is that they don't really focus so much on how beautiful your kicking style is, it's rather that if it's going to the right place and giving your teammates a chance to mark it.
So make of that as you will.

His son still takes the old players out every single year and has them at his house so at least one Fox gets on.
Great to hear that.

plugger66....I remember several years back Lindsay used to hold a early season past players function at his Toorak bolthole...I assume he's stopped doing that in light of what you posted?

If there is a poor performance clause i suspect finishing bottom 3 would be a trigger.
For all we know. They put in a no condition +3 option at the end haha

You'd bloody well hope so...but who knows what goes on in the minds of our board?

21 Saints coaches in my lifetime... one great, three or four contenders. Richo isn't the worst but he's way, way behind the best. Don't mind if we stick with old Milky Bar until the end of the year if we use the time to really find out about our list... Rice, Battle, Connellan, Phillips, Paton, Clavarino etc etc. I'd really like to know, going into next year, just how far we are from the prize. Chances are it can be turned around but not with the current coaching team and not in the next three years. Question is... will I be around to see it?

Being a Saints supporter is the toughest of gigs... ask my old man... ask my grandpa... ask my brother and sister... ask all my cousins. Ugh! Curse Ablett's toe-poke! Curse Milne's shitty bounce! Curse Bob Keddie! And curse that ugly bastard, Darren Jarman!

Goodnight. It's Masterchef time and I don't give a flying f*** who wins that!

People have forgotten how shit we are .
We are currently crap........really bad crap.

But maybe Richo's not the main problem......to me looking in.......it appears several issues have reared their ugly head at the same time....the perfect shit storm.

Richo is one of the issues.......there are no doubt other issues which are now compounding into the all mighty mess we are currently in.......still can't believe this has all happened.

IMO........have a full external review by someone respected and credentialed in the industry........start now or shortly or at seasons end.

Then we make decisions....no knee jerk stuff now.

As I said last night....I hope the powers to be have the balls to implement any recommendations.....assuming that those recommendations are correct.

My absolute worst nightmare is that we give Richo the Kyber....then find out later that he wasn't the main issue.

That he did VDS66....I think all creditors received 24 cents in the dollar....the only one from memory who opposed the scheme of arrangement was Ian Collins at Carlton.

There may have been a filing cabinet supplier too...lol.

The whole thing left Barry Breen feeling very pissed off towards Lindsay.

And from memory...yes ...Lindsay was a member of a Carlton Coterie group.

I think he joined in the late 80's......the crazy days of money everywhere before the recession we had to had.

Made sense from a business point of view.......Carlton was the "Corporate Club" in those days.

Weirdly enough - maybe our current problems start with this shite. Those heroes of '66 were the heart of this club and the fact they were shat on so royally set in motion a series of regimes that plunged us deeper and deeper into the poo. Where we are now is a result of a couple of decades of mismanagement and disfunction. Back to Masterchef!

I went to high school with Ken's grand daughter! Great player (maybe it's you :p)

Makes sense and does fit in reasonably well with what I had heard as well. Who’s to know how much it all impacts on match-day output and so on. Just an interesting point of conversation. Anyone getting along to training at Moorabbin could give a good run-down of what is emphasised at training I’m sure!

You beat me by two.
Bugger.

If we sack Richo now, then which coach will be ready to join us?

No assistant coach from other club will take this role. We will end up with some crap coach and we will have to repeat the same cycle after 3 years.

It make sense to see if Richo makes any difference or not? In the meantime start talking with some potential coach and assistant coaches.

Whilst I'm as down as any St.Kilda supporter at the moment (naturally), there is one thing keeping me going at the moment in terms of the position we are in.

I can recall sometime ago Leigh Matthews saying something along the lines of:
"Any coach can lead a good team to ten straight wins, it's the coach that can turn it all around after 10 straight losses that is really worth something".

So in saying that I guess we're still in for some more hurt, but if Richo can find a way to turn it all around when we're at our worst then it could prove to not only be the making of him as a coach, but indeed be the making of the whole playing group.

Let's just hang in here for a bit, strength through loyalty ⚪⚫

As much as it irks me... we need to to stick with the coach until the end of the year but we need to mix things up in the meantime. TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT RICHO. Play Rice, Clavarino, Battle, McKenzie, Phillips, Connellan, Joyce, Austin... there's nothing to lose
