People suggesting that are idiots. It'll be Colton Herta or Pato O'Ward that are in the McLaren after Daniel. The only way Daniel ends up at Alpine is if for some ridiculous reason Piastri ends up at Williams.

You're probably right. Though I gotta say, losing Alonso and Piastri and replacing them with Ricciardo sounds very much like something Alpine would do

my only reservation when it comes 2 oscar getting the seat at alpine is he'd b the 2nd young driver. they may go 4 someone with more experience in the 2nd seat. the counter argument is alpine has a big investment in him. from his point of view mclaren might b a good fit.

I don’t see what gain there is for Alpine going to Dan over Oscar.

The talk is that Webber has gotten Piastri out of his Alpine contract due to believing Alonso was locked in for another two years, it’s not Alpine choosing Ric over Piastri.

I’d say it’s extremely unlikely but it would be a great result for Aussies IMO - Dan out of a car he just cannot drive back to where he last had some sort of success, against a teammate he can beat - also would be awesome to see him beat McLaren there as a bit of a “**** you” too and add a bit more spice to races.

Piastri straight into what should be the 4th best car on the grid providing McLaren get their shit together, with a pretty tantalising match up against Lando - two young hyped drivers both rated top of the next tier coming through. Piastri younger and probably more adaptable to a “quirky” car than Dan.

Plus Dan winding up in a couple of years at Alpine, could possibly open the door for Doohan if he continues to rise.

Again it’s super far fetched and extremely unlikely, but would be a bloody great result for Aussies if that’s how it ended up

This scenario is far more funny. This forum would absolutely lose its shit given how it was during 2010-2018 with Webber/Vettel and Verstappen/Ricciardo and Helmut Marko interfering

Ocon is 25 and has 100 race starts to his name including a race win. I reckon he's ready to lead the Alpine team

Sounds like it’s getting a bit messy, Otmar reckons he found out Alonso was leaving via press release. Piastri first choice, but sounds like he’s definitely signed something with McLaren, under the assumption Alonso was staying put.

Which also doesn’t bode well for Ric’s seat next year, and with the AM seat gone where could he realistically go? Would love him to go elsewhere and show up the McLaren to be the piece of shit it is. TBH for Oscar a seat at Alpine alongside Ocon is probably almost better than a McLaren next to Lando.

Team dynamics at Alpine won’t be great for the rest of the season either, could we potentially see Oscar in the seat before the years out?

1x Alfa Romeo - you'd think Zhou gets one more year
1x Alpha Tauri - don't think Yuki will get renewed but who would Red Bull want in there?
1x Alpine - Oscar?? Maybe not if these Webber rumours are true
1x Haas - MSC will get renewed no doubt notwithstanding he hasn't actually shown a whole heap
2x Williams - technically two seats but Albon will take one surely, leaves one for de Vries or Oscar. My money would be on de Vries
1x McLaren* - will have to be either Daniel or Oscar

I just want Danny out of the McLaren, in an ideal world he would go back to Renault and Oscar in the McLaren to show up Lando.

Potentially Horner pinches Albon back into an Alpha Tauri?

Confirms all the rumours floating around, will be interesting to see how it pans out. I hope he sticks with Alpine tbh they do seem to have been good to him, could understand if it was McLaren or Williams, but McLaren is nowhere near a good enough environment to be burning bridges with Alpine (and potentially other teams?) over. To be completely honest if you had to pick this week you’d rather be in an Alpine, who knows what happens next year

So Dans not going to feel so great learning that Mclaren had signed a deal with Piastri for next season. Ultimately though I hope Alpine keep Piastri simply because it looks the better car and Piastri has a better chance of beating Ocon than he does Norris.

Seems more and more likely that Ricciardo wont have a seat anywhere next season. If Mclaren arent able to hold Piastri to the contract Webber got for him, then Mclaren will probably go for that indy car racer.

I can't imagine why Oscar wouldn't stick with Alpine. They've shown that they're reasonably quick this year, and next year's car should - in theory - be better. As a team, they've had DR and FA as senior drivers for the last 4 years, so they should have had enough senior driver feedback by now. And as someone else said, Ocon is getting to the stage of almost being able to lead the team (even though he's a d**k on the track towards his teammate).

Why the **** would Alpine want Dan back? Jesus christ that would be a totally shit move for them. He is in the twilight of his career and the car they have now built for Ocon/Alonso with all the new regs is not the same car he finally got used to in 2020.

If Piastri actually went to McLaren (he won't), then Alpine would simply sign an up and comer, or better yet, Gasly. Maybe make a play for MSC.

It makes zero sense to go back to Dan.
