F1 F1 2023 - The Rise of Oscar

Racing behind Max has been very close though, personally I think it has been a fun season

The racing has been pretty good for the most part if you take Max out of it. Four different teams competed for second place at different points in the season.
I agree. There's always battles and stories within stories which keep me watching. Particularly how good and bad Ferrari can be, poor Charles. Won't say I don't get fed up with the dominance of RB though and Merc before that. But everyone's getting closer. Interesting too see who will get away early next year already.

thought oscar was a little disappointing. hoped he'd make up some ground on norris in the last 10 laps but he couldn’t get closer than 7 seconds.
People on here are still refusing to acknowledge that Norris is a really good driver because he's a whinging pom.

quite astounding you’d conclude my post i was underrating norris. not to mention the pommie reference.

oscar has on many occasions been around or better the norris pace-wise. my post obviously was related to that.

Wrong of me to single out your post, but have noticed a tendency for some on here (not you necessarily) to downplay the ability of drivers they don't like (Hamilton and Norris)

Thought it was a pretty good effort after the first pit stop.

Pretty much matched Norris from that point after at one stage looking likely to be passed by Tsunoda, Alfonso and Hamilton

The second stint was a big problem according to Oscar. He said on Sky it wasn't until the 3rd stint that he started to find pace.

As seasons where 1 driver dominates goes, I thought it was a pretty entertaining season
Mercedes most dominant season was 2016 where 4 teams got podiums, but two of those teams combined for 3 podiums total.

Mercedes never got close to this though did they? RB only lost one race this year between their two drivers.

2016 they lost two, one of which was the crash between rosberg and Hamilton at Barcelona

I just want to acknowledge in a lone post that it's now two full seasons where Hamilton hasn't won a race.

2!
I also want to acknowledge that despite the above fact, Sir Lewis Hamilton is still the driver with the most world driver championship titles confirming his status as one of the greatest of all time with Michael Schumacher.

Considering what a crap poster you are, you got sand in your panties over that?

Nice to know.

The Sky panel spoke of their favourite takeaways for season 2023.
Oscar got quite a few mentions. Really impressed by him.
How would you rank Oscar's rookie season compared to other current drivers rookie seasons ?

Hamilton arguably had one of the strongest rookie seasons in F1 history, so its a long way off that

Verstappen, Norris, Leclerc and Russell were all very impressive in their rookie seasons, albeit in much weaker cars than what Oscar had (from the mid season point onwards anyway).
