No. As I said earlier in the year if I was red bulls PR manager (and they should have a decent one) I would gag Helmut and he would never be allowed to talk to the media or I would sack him. He's a rent a quote for creating problems.

Yes and no.

I mean when you're that dominant for a few years, others will come for you. It's hard to keep the same group together in any salary cap sport.

i actually think it's max trying to cause friction. the verstappen's are good at it.

Verstappen is also 100% correct - it's a matter of time before Piastri sees himself as being too good to be playing second fiddle to Lando. Only way he stays at McLaren long term is if Lando leaves.

You'd think there's a 2nd Ferrari spot coming up in 27/28, particularly if Charles puts Lewis to the sword or vice versa.

I reckon that's where Oscar might have their eyes on.

Of course Max could give it away within a couple years too.

Yeah, Zak Brown keeps saying that McLaren is a team of equals when it comes to driver's but you only have to look at the history of McLaren let alone F1 in general to see having two top tier drivers in the same team almost always ends up in tears.

But whatever you think about Mark Weber as an F1 driver, he has proven himself to be beyond peer when it comes to being a driver manager in the heavy politicised world of F1. He no doubt already has a strategy in place for where Oscar needs to be to get a WDC and that will mean being the recognised #1 driver in a top team.

Picking which team will have the leading car and support package in the next 2-3 years is the tough guess. Will Red Bull and Mercedes continue to be also rans and will McLaren and Ferrari continue their new found dominance?

Its an interesting question.

Its probably more about composure in key moments. You cant tell me Lando didnt know exactly what Max was going to do..... and yet he still fell for it.

Lando makes mistakes in key moments, thats more compsoure than smarts IMO

Red Bull (well Max) appear to have resolved their car woes. I expect Max to be on the podium every race from here on out, which won't be enough for Lando to close the gap. And that is not even taking into account Ferrari and Mercedes taking points of Lando.

Not sure Mercedes are going to be getting in the way too often. Looks like their latest update was another step backwards, apparently contributing to both Russell (Q3) and Hamilton (Lap 1) spinning off.

The Ferraris, on the other hand, look very quick with their latest update.

I think it's just having the driver IQ for things. Experience is learned and whereas someone like Max and Lewis were both sponges for learning and adapting and strategy Lando just doesn't seem to show signs of growth at a rate that suggests he can be a WDC winner. He relies on the guidance of the pit wall and doesn't have that edge required to make hard and decisive decisions in a split second, something that you need to be an A grade driver.

Contrast that to Oscar who seems to learn quickly, adapt, and can think 3 steps ahead. He's cool under pressure, can mentally map things out, and seems sure of himself when a decision needs to be made.
