Impatience proved very costly for the second half of DR's career. Both his own, and his team managers.
Strongly Disagree.

In 2018 at the age of 29, Ricciardo rightly summed up that he was the clear second driver at Red Bull with the arrival of Verstappen and that he would never win a championship there.

And he performed relatively well at Renault until he, rightly again, determined that McLaren was the place to be for a driver still believing they had a championship chance. And as we've all seen- his assessment of McLaren as a future world champion team was spot on.

Sadly for Danny Ric, his driving style did not match the McLaren car and not only did Norris soundly outperform him but his seat was clearly under pressure. From then on his chance at a world championship was over

So I don't see it as 'impatience' at all. But a world class driver desperately trying to get the best of his career while he was on top. But the decline came quicker than he anticipated and at 35 years of age and 13 years at the pinnacle of world motor sport he has retired.

Both on and off the track timing is everything in F1. Career wise his timing might have been a little off but blaming it on impatience is the wrong call imho.

Still annoyed I coughed up $80 for his Renault cap only to see him exit a year later

I forked out close to $200 for one of the Danny Ric McLaren limited edition Mitchell & Ness grid iron jerseys in bright papaya orange a couple of years back. Stands out in a crowd that's for sure. Collector's item now (that's my story anyway).

Very sad..in different circumstances would still be in a contending car now and doing very well.

But he's had a fantastic career.

It's sad that this whole saga of him and perez and Lawson has been handled so terribly this year (and shows what a joke that a company as big as red bull does PR more poorly than a work experience kid) but it shouldn't overshadow what has been a great career.

RBR will never do that.
What are the options if Max walks though?

Experienced driver pool would be Magnussen, Ricciardo, Bottas, and possibly Sainz if there is an exit clause in his Williams deal (but is Red Bull really a desirable destination anymore, it seems like things are trending south).

Young driver pool would be Lawson, Hadjar, Iwasa within RB, or if looking outside you have Schumacher, Drugovich, O'Ward, Shwartzman, Pourchaire or Fittipaldi. None of these I'd say are top team ready (particularly if replacing Max), but you could quite easily throw them into VCARB and promote Yuki.

Marko said Daniel was told before the race and Lawson said he has known for 2 weeks. So why the **** did Red Bull not announce it earlier?

Because you have people like marko and horner in charge of their communications not competent PR and media professionals.

Do red bull have 4 new drivers at the end of 25? What do people think?

I think Yuki will move on after 25.
Lawson is unknown.
Surely they get sense and dump checo by then.

They won't dump Checo unless they can convince a genuinely good, experienced driver to come across to them. I don't think there's anyone on the grid that fits the bill though. Closest would either be Albon or Gasly, complicated by both already having history at Red Bull.

They made a mistake not throwing more at Sainz on a two year deal when he was available IMO.

Maybe they will have a go at Carlos for 2026 (I would be surprised if the Williams deal doesn't have exit clauses) and if not him I'd go for alone but I get the point re history. Honestly age wise and with his performance declining I think unless they only care about $ and not results next year has to be perez last and they won't promote Yuki so they will need to look elsewhere (I'm assuming they won't get anyone from McLaren or mercedes).

If Oscar and Lando are both evenly matched at the end of next season I could see Red Bull going for one of them. They have tried to get Lando in the past and you would think that if one of them were open to moving then Red Bull would be all over them.

Wouldn't happen unless Verstappen left.

Remember the time when the second seat at Red Bull was lauded as the stepping stone to a possible WDC for the best up and coming young talent in the junior grades?

And now it's Sainz, Albon, Gasly, Perez (and previously Danny Ric)?

Says all you need to know about the fall of RBR imho.

Reckon Horner will squeeze a few million dollars more out of the team for his spice laden country estate before he too leaves - lest anyone dare lay any of the blame for the team's demise at him, the team principal.

"PlanetF1.com understands that the door has been kept open for Ricciardo to remain in the Red Bull Racing pool, though he remains undecided for now."

Perez out, Dan back in after the Mexican GP? 🤔
Prior to Singapore I would have said this is still an option.

But hearing Daniel post race and after, he is spent and completely done with F1. Can't see how he goes into another seat and does well.

Kym Illman has said something came across his path today that suggests there could be yet another twist in the Danny ric saga come season end but refused to elaborate as it would filter back to his source (interview on the project - that was the only interesting part of the interview, not really worth watching that dribble show for it)
