Tough one without knowing how much $ Williams wanted to break his deal. I think Franco ultimately has a higher ceiling than hadjar but he's also raw and needs time to refine his driving too (particularly risk vs reward). Neither of them is 100 % ready.

He'll get his shot. I don't think too much can be read into those crashes. Brazil was a shitfight and Las Vegas he was searching for every millimetre and misjudged it. The main issue for him is the only seats that come up in 2026 that I know of are Russel's and Tsunoda's.

Antonelli will get a while because Toto loves him but I think Lawson has 12 months to perform or he's gone for 2026 red bull are ruthless. I'm also not that convinced that Max will hang around that long if red bull keep having infighting. Yuki will move elsewhere. It wouldn't surprise me if alonso retires (or is forced to) and doohan probably doesn't have much time. Plus the 2 new seats for the American team (not that colapinto would want to go there).

How so?

Watching his performances in F2 this year he seemed to be head and shoulders above most of the other drivers - finishing second to Bortoleto and with 4 wins - more than any other driver - in his second year. If not for the engine failure on the starting grid at the final race of the year at Abu Dhabi he may well have won the championship.

But more importantly is how he performed at the Abu Dhabi test session where he was testing in the Red Bull alongside Tsunoda. Christian Horner saying he was faster than Yuki “which turned heads”.

He has a reputation as being a bit of a hot head though and it was interesting to read reports that Marko told Hajar to 'keep his emotions under control' when he was appointed to RBR. A clear reference, I think, to Tsunoda's tantrums and a warning of what might happen if he goes down that path. Bit of hypocrisy from Marko given that Max was hot headed from the day he joined the F1 grid but that's easily balanced out by Max's race wins and championships.

Time will tell of course. There's a very long list of young guns who've joined the F1 circus after stellar careers in the lower race classes only to be unable to perform at the level required.

The problem is Yukis results really haven't gotten any better, much less his attitude.

I watched a pod with Lawson on it where he talked about the different design philosophy Red Bull have to RB, very interesting. His style is better suited to the car.

but LL will drive like a young Max - and stick his nose in places it shouldnt go as a Rookie driver. He will take Max out IMO before the mid point of the season bc as he says, he's here to race not make friends.

And I get the Alpha type A bullshit... but you also gotta know when and how to use it.

if he “takes max out” too often, his stay at rb won’t be a long one.

...same was true with Daniel. All he ever wanted was a pointy car like his old RB was. Toro Rosso and McLaren couldn't make it work and DR simply didn't give Renault enough time to improve.

We need to make the most of having 3 "Aussies" on the grid. I don't think Doohan is quite at the level, and doubt he gets a 2nd year, Lawson is in the hot-seat now and won't be given patience, and that just leaves Oscar in a safe position.

Speaking of "Aussies", I hope Bottas gets a race seat in the Mercedes - I don't care for George and don't know Kimi (but dislike the fast-tracking).
