Sorry guys, probably not the right time of year to be talking about this sort of thing...with the future so bright.
But the gaping hole in our list....thats right, the 22-27 year old group can be explained by the following.
Only 5 players remain from the Gary Ayres drafting era. (I have only included players from the NAB Draft as I believe this is where Adolf had most of the control, the rookie draft I put down as mainly the recruiting staff. I also haven't included trades ie Thompson & Symes).
1999: Biglands (Who has done his knee and is gone IMO)
2000: Johncock
2001: Reilly (this was a superdraft too)
2002: Shirley (who is probably close to the end), Jericho (Who has played bugger all games and will be delisted)
2003: Not one player remains.
So really only 2 players out of here can be rendered useful in the next 5-10 years of our football club.
Definitely need our new batch to come on (which I have strong confidence in) and our future drafting to be of a very high standard.
*Please forgive me for stating the obvious that drafting under Ayres was poor. Yes I do feel like Tim Watson.
