Farmer a Hawk in 08?

Okay so the guy has some baggage to deal with but lets not kid ourselves the man can play (& more important wants to play)!

This is pure speculation but what would other hawk fans out there say to Jeff Farmer becoming a Hawk in 08? The point has been raised that Hawthorn is in struggle street when it comes down to the crumbing forward position & I can think of no other small forward in the current game who is better then Good old Jeff. It has been said that the recruiting staff will not be afraid to draft a mature age player next year & if Freo are silly enough to release Jeff from his contract then i think the Hawks should swoop in & pick him up! (Lets not forget we are notorious for picking up gem deals with the dockers during trade period).

He is 30 years old but has not had many significant injuries in his career (So he is a young 30 yr old as Aka puts it) so his body is in good nick & he has virtually had this whole year off! I think he can play AFL for at least another 3 years & isn't this the time period that we are supposed to win a flag/s?

What do you all think & be honest with yourself the man is a great player at what he does and could easily fit into the mould at Hawthorn!

I don't think anyone on here can deny Jeff's talent. He's a very good player and we would value highly from a player of his type.

However, in a young side it's probly not a good idea to introduce a seiner player who might well put a bad influence into other players around the club.

We should probly just leave this one. There are other small forwards out there or else we could develop another young player such as Moss.

Definately do not need him. We have enough forwards that will be a potent combination given time. Farmer is tooo old and has a bad attitude which we do not need at the brown and gold. This team when they play hard tackling fierce football are a strong side. Imagine the strength when willo comes back. WOW!!!!!!!!!

Whilst i agree that Farmer is not the answer, I do share the opinion that we need a small forward. Unless Clarko can morph Willo into a small crumbing forward.

OR

If Muston does come on like everyone thinks he will, I always thought Bateman could make an excellent small forward.. thoughts?

Great player but with such a negative attitude, baggage, and trouble making he has caused, he would only cause a negative effect on such a young team that we have prided our self on discipline out side the football field.

Clarko dropping Hodge for a week was making a stance of following the rules, why would we go against our hard stance by bringing in a trouble maker?

The one thing we definately need is a small forward! Not sure if Farmer would work out, but he would have to be a better pick up than redrafting Thurgood. If he gets his off-field stuff together and plays a couple of good years great! If he continues to stuff up then get rid of him and it hasn't cost us much.

If theres any one thats gunna change him then its Alister Clarkson. He changed Guerra into a gun, he made Buddy stop playing up, got Cambel Brown stop fighting at night, so he can make Farmer a player again. And with Jeffs Beyond Blues hell get them psychiatrists do wonders with him and make him the gun that we need to kick us them sneeky goals we need. Aboriginals are the best for being goal sneeks.
