Re: Official Fev to be traded - either saints of Hawks

A possible scenario for the Pies to snag Fev...

Collingwood Trade: Pick 14, Medhurst/Davis, Dawes
Carlton Trade: Fevola
West Coast Trade: Mckinley, 2nd rounder

Collingwood Gain: Fevola, wce 2nd rounder (give it to carlton if they want more) and a premiership
Carlton Gain: Mckinley, Dawes, Pick 14
West Coast Gain: Medhurst/Davis

Thoughts..

Re: Official Fev to be traded - either saints of Hawks

fev to tigers
newman best man at his wedding
newman captain of tigers
it all adds up

Re: Official Fev to be traded - either saints of Hawks

Adelaide

Tipett and pick 13 for Fev?

Fremantle.

They have the money in the cap available and they could trade Tarrant for him.... unlikely though.

Brisbane.

If Bradshaw wanted to go home they could swap players?

Trade week is looking interesting for a change. :thumbsu:

I think that if Tippet goes...it will be back to the Gold Coast next year.

Medhurst is contracted until end 2011 and Leon until 2012. WCE get ripped. No chance.

Fev - what 700k contract?

Just a thought - Another club might NOT have to pick up Fev's contract.

Consider the following scenario - 3 clubs are interested in having Fev on their list (ie sydney, collingwood, dogs)

Ignoring the contract for one moment, it would be up to each club to entice Fev that he should join them - an easy way to do that would be to offer $/extended contract.

In a bidding war, a smart club might come out and offer a 4 year deal @ 450k (lower base+clauses for off field)+bonuses (flag, coleman, F50 tackles etc)

450kX4yrs = 1.8mill (+bonuses), which is easily better than his current contract and provides 'security' into his 30s. Under such a scenario, the blues could offer to pay a significant proportion of fev's salary for yrs 1&2 (ie 400k in year 1, 200k in year 2 ) to help facilitate a good trade (ie fair compensation) and still be better off than having to pick up a 2X$700k/year contract

Re: Official Fev to be traded - either saints of Hawks

kozi luke ball + 16 for fevola + 2nd rounder sounds fair.

Re: Official Fev to be traded - either saints of Hawks

Fev won't be traded... He's still on contract for 2 years so they can't delist him without paying him out. and thats 1.4 mil...

No club would want him... so he won't be going anywhere.

Though i think collingwood should go after him... with him they can be a serious contender... cos atm their forward line stinks
Pick 14 should be enough BECAUSE - carlton want him out... so they can't be expecting the best price for him. First rounder by the pies should be enuf.

Re: Official Fev to be traded - either saints of Hawks

the fact that carlton want to get rid of him means that they can't expect very good compensation...

completely different to west coast and judd... and port and burgoyne

Re: Official Fev to be traded - either saints of Hawks

as much as i like for it to happen, it's highly impossibly. for one, we couldn't afford him. two, our first pick (9) is getting used to secure burgoyne. three, we are also chasing gibson.

the only way this could somewhat happen would be if we traded someone like lewis and.. i dont know what else, because we dont have much we would be willing to give up.

roughead would be moved down back. we wouldn't bother with gibson!

meh! wont happen, no point putting any real logic into a scenario.

collingwood and st kilda for me, that's if he even leaves carlton...

We don't want Medhurst & Davis.
Maybe Carlton can collect another Cloke and Fevola would go to Collingwood.
Chuck in Medhurst as well.

Re: Official Fev to be traded - either saints of Hawks

There was a sms leak to SEN, Before (5 mins), the news broke apparently, the leak proved to be right.

The leak stipulated Fev nominated Saints or Hawks.

Re: Fev - what 700k contract?

Fev won't care if he leaves... so he want 700 to be matched. Who is not gonna want to have more money. And carlton are the ones that want him out... so most likely... they would have to pay part of his contract for 2 years.

Lets say... 4x450 right? means the first 2 years... carlton will have to pay 250k...

its written in contract... unless fev decides to take less from a club. But why would he do that, especially when he said he's disappointed with carlton, so why should he be lenient on them.

Re: Official Fev to be traded - either saints of Hawks

Reported on SEN. Fevola has requested 2 clubs. Collingwood and St Kilda, Cmon Pies get him now. If we get Fevola i will be really excited for 2010.

Re: Official Fev to be traded - either saints of Hawks

Don't understand why everybody here thinks the salary cap is a problem.

Ever heard of a very generous company called VISY?
So VISY is going to pay Fev to play for another club? You're right, they're extremely generous!

Re: Fev - what 700k contract?

If Carlton get a good young player $250k plus a couple of picks (say $150k) then their exposure is going to be about $400k a year, will allow them to absorb about $300k of the contract which means the club they trade with just need to carry $400k, given they were looking at $300k with their player and picks is not a huge amount they need to cover, just an extra $100k for a pretty decent player.

depends really. He is approaching the age that if he has a bad season, his football career could be over. Its why most players that are approaching the 30 mark will be looking for longer term contracts whereas clubs invariably go for short term ones.

A longer contract could also mean greater potential for additional endorsements/marketing income so its not a straight comparison of 2X700k vs 4X450k+

The blues would probably be happy to pay part salary for the first couple of seasons if it meant a better deal went through than an average deal.

Worse case scenario - blues pay $350kX2 yrs for Fev's next contract.

For a 4 year deal, that would mean - 2 X 100k, followed by 2 X450k. I think such a setup would interest a fair few clubs.

ie dogs could 'afford' fev for the next couple of seasons - by which time johnson+other older players might be gone, that when combined with increased cap allowance in subsequent years would make Fev a good option to pick up.

Re: Official Fev to be traded - either saints of Hawks

they would have to if they want to get rid of him. For sure carlton will have to pay part of the contract!

expect no finals from carlton next year! They have no CHF... and without fev? NO FORWARD LINE

Re: Official Fev to be traded - either saints of Hawks

Collingwood or Adelaide would be the only chance if the Swans are out.

1.It would have to be a contender with his age.

2. They would have to need a forward so Saints Hawks out.

3. They would need room in the cap so Cats, Bulldogs out.(unless lake goes).

Noone else will be a contender in the next 2 years you would think.

Can Fev do a new Deal at less money if he chooses to ?
