Yeah it makes finals strategy interesting for those only interested in a league win. Im contemplating Merrett to Betts this week in light of the news (to fund Libba to Sloane).

Surely there is another way

in fact doing that would be nuts on face value

post your team if you want to

A second opinion would be great, cheers. I reckon there is another way.

Scenario is that I'm third, and losing will mean facing the best team in the comp in week 2. I'm probably third best. My opponent has betts (no Merrett) and we only have five points of difference. Betts should go huge against lions, and then Eagles/dockers in the last two rounds.

I'm speculating that Merrett will be rested next week if it's not this week.

Sloane is ideally who I turn Libba into

Looking at winning the league only.

Petracca to Naismith
Libba to a mid gun of your choice

Have 4 trades and 330k left in the bank... I think Naismith will go over 100 against Port with no ruckman, or should I just get Dahlhaus in now? Otherwise if Boyd doesn't play then straight swap to Simpson so I can win and skip to the next round, thoughts?

4 Trades and 367k

Option 1
Adams to Boyd
Hall to Sloane type or Treloar type
Gives me 106k or 153k to try get Dalhouse next week

Option 2
Adams to Boyd
Smith to Sloane type or Treloar type
Gives me 19k or 65k

Option 3
Adams to Doc
Hall to Sloane type or Treloar type
Gives 53k or 100k

Option 4
Adams to Doc
Smith to Treloar type
Gives 12k

1 trade, 90.5k. Elimination Final this week, blow the trade or hold. Shiel is bothering me, but a 101 average is still fair.View attachment 272304

I'd hold. No real weaknesses, and you will probably need a trade in the last three weeks to win it all.

Option 3 Boyd no certainty is he?

I'm giving Martin one last chance this week and hope he goes well or its gawn for him. If he does well then perhaps I'll consider goldy to gawn as I think gawn is the X factor that will cost me the finals if I don't have him.
I've dogged him out the last two years and thought he'd get injured but gees he's made me look a wombat. I have to admit he's turned out a top gun ruckman.

Looking for options. With 5 trades left I had a complete team and was looking to bring in Simpson and Dahlhaus through finals, since then GAJ, Barlow, Bartel, Hall, Lids, Boyd, Laird have all missed games or had season enders.

I'm in the top 4 for my cash league so batting with a double chance. Some options so far:

1. Do nothing - will almost guarantee a loss this week (will probably be forced to field a 0 or poor rookies), but can save trades for next and hope that one of Hall or Lids returns, Dahlhaus will be cheaper then too.
2. Use trades for straight swaps only - 1 of Lids/Hall or both to Franklin, Gunston, (other forwards?)
3. Left field/Crazy plan... -> Brown or Gresham to Simpson, Deledio to Motlop (!). Next week Brown or Gresham -> Dahlhaus.

OUT: Brown ~300k + Gresham ~$340k + Lids ~$490k + Bank $213k = $1,343
IN: Dahl ~$420k + Simpson ~540k + 3rd Mid/Fwd ~$383k= $1,343

Things I like about option 3:
1. I get Simpson and Dahlhaus in my side still and will have bench cover through DPP (Birchall as D7, with Bartel able to move into mids, Motlop as M9/F7) - great for more players being rested.
2. Geelong has an easy run, like a really easy run - Dons, Tigers, Lions, Dees and Motlop needs to find form (less likely to be rested?)
3. Simpson has a great finals run, Dahlhaus needs to find form and less likely to be rested.

Things I don't like about option 3:
1. Motlop is a huge risk, could spud hard, do not want to rely on.
2. No ruck cover with no trades left.
2. Chance of playing sub optimal D6/M8/F6 if a super premium goes down (no straight swap).

Thoughts? What would you do with my team?

No don't believe he is, Is it worth going a 500k player to try bank some cash for next week

or trade Smith and Keep Hall
Depends when hall back you need to keep one of them but that m8 needs a gun. I'd keep hall over smith if hall's back but Adams to doc and hall to Treloar (with 100k left over?) is solid trading if hall is out. As you get closer to gf you can cull players like Collins and risk no cover if need be.(well at least on gf week if your starters are all named)

I'm going Hall > Motlop.

For 3 reasons.

1. His form's turned last 3 weeks. Team things like pressuring/tackling is back in his game & had an impact on cats result last week. The disp & goals then follow.

2. Cats run home. Ess, Rich, Bris (3 worst teams in comp), then Dees @ home GF week. All 4 games should be circle work & his ceiling his high!

3. He's least likely to get rested.

Check your opponents team and if option 3 will help get you the week off then go for it as that's as good as saving trades provided you win.
Edit: fwiw Motlop is the perfect handy type of loophole player as he can go huge.
