"Sexy" is one word I never thought I'd hear Jon Ralph say. Let alone three times in about 10 seconds.

Haha, I thought the exact same thing. I even said to myself "Jon Ralph has said "sexy" far too many times.

so happy Geelong lost a Prelim in a close one... About time they felt some prelim pain for all the damage they have caused us in finals over the years

SAid the same thing last night, we owe them some serious pain.

As much as we owe geelong pain, they've given us all the intellectual property in the world and some of their best personnel. I'm not too bothered about Geelong. I'd rather see a system like theirs win than Hawthorn's top up at all costs that's going on.

Re: Freo, geez they should be a chance to knock off the hawks. I'm still thinking Hawthorn will have them because they also defend well but i know that Freo will match up well because Crowley should stop Mitchell and Freo should win the midfield battle. If they can get the game played in their forward 50 they'll have the hawks well and truly out of their comfort zone. Just need to take their chances

Yes. and what is even better is St Kilda won't even be close to getting near a prelim for a while.God i hate that club..

i cant wait till we beat them in a big final game... I just cant wait.... I know some really Cocky, Smart Arse Geelong Supporters , so i was rather happy they lost Friday...... :)

Wasnt that image of Selwood on his knees on the ground at the end of the match Friday so damn similar to Rohan Smith on his knees after the 1997 Prelim

Geez i still shudder when i think of that game... What could have been....... :(

I was there in the southern stand and i was Fu**ing Fuming after that final siren went

Im 35 and i cant stand the fact that we havent made a GF in my lifetime.

I feel sorry for all you poor poor bastards out there who support the Dogs in your 40's 50's and 60's.....

This 40 something bastard appreciates your sympathy.

Sorry, but I am always bitter a this time of year when I have to watch everyone else enjoy watching their team compete in a GF. The possibility of another interstate/expansion club getting appearance won't help either. Can you believe that every new club (excluding GC & GWS) will have played in a GF since we last played in one 53 years ago!!!

Plus, West Coast, Sydney, Adelaide, Brisbane and Port Adelaide have all won premierships.mgive me the absolute sh#ts!

Yes, i dont want to say the word, but its certainly a C*NT of a time in the season for us Dogs Supporters around Prelim and Grand Final Week :( :(:mad::oops:

And for me it all started right back against Hawthorn in 1985 and its been downhill from there....

Oh well, we could be Richmond I suppose, so all is not lost..... :)

watching these prelims, definitely puts confidence in macca's approach to footy. Hoping in 2 or 3 years we can sustain pressure for a while game and still run forward when needed

This is the take-away for me.

Take a good look at Freo's pressure. We are the best placed team in the league to take it a notch up from there, some time over the next few years.

For the first time in almost 40 years, I don't think I am even going to bother watching/listening to next week's Grand Final. Thanks for that, Fremantle.

Oh good it's not just me.

Honestly I don't really care about Hawthorn. And I hate Ross Lyon, so I don't want to go for Freo. But then I just don't feel a strong affinity towards Hawthorn.

It just doesn't feel like a Grand Final. I'll watch it, but it just doesn't have that same build up or anticipation that accompanies other GF's.

I am happy for Freo and their fans, and some of their good blokes like Pav, hard to stomache Ballantyne and Crowley with a premiership medal though:eek: same way I felt about Milne having a premiership medal. Will feel a bit sad for Lakey if Hawks don't win, and I don't think they will, they were not very convincing against Geelong.

I went to the game at Subi, Freo's pressure was just immense & their spread was great. Sydney just couldn't handle it and it showed. The GF will be interesting, the Hawks play the style that can beat Freo's/Lyon's system (quick movement by foot not leaving the time to set up properly), but at the same time Freo could choke the Hawks. And apparently about 45,000 is the biggest crowd Freo have had in a game, see how that goes when it's doubled.

However my point for posting in here tonight, was just the feeling during and after the game I had of just pure jealousy. Being around mates who are Dockers fans and knowing they made it to the big dance hurts after how close we have come during my lifetime. If I'm right, 5 prelims and we haven't made it while they get there after their second. Sucks to just go into daydream mode and think of what it would feel like to be in that situation, and just hope our batch of kids are going to have what it takes to get there. /rant haha....

I'll be supporting Hawthorn next week for these reasons:

- They've been the best side for the past few years

- They have several players I like i.e Buddy, Sewell, Roughie, Lake - yes, I do still like him.

- I absolutely, unequivocally despise that unbearably smug tosser Ross Lyon with an unrelenting passion. The thought of this guy as a premiership coach seriously makes me want to projectile vomit. I barracked passionately against St Kilda in their Grand Finals when he was there as well (although I hate St Kilda anyway). He deserves more pain.

- Similar to Lyon, I also just cannot have Hayden Ballentyne as a premiership player.

I don't have anything against Freo as a club and would certainly like for Pavlich to have a premiership but due to the above I just cannot stomach them winning it.

If Lyon comes down with swine flu and can't coach next week and Ballantyne gets injured and can't play then yep, no problems with Freo winning.

Until then, go hawks.

For all the talk earlier in year blah blah contested possession and clearances aren't important blah blah, have a look at the differential in the key stats over the finals series, then if any of those same people want to come back and say it again now I will laugh in their face, game plans come and go, styles come and go, finals do not change, you cannot win finals footy without the key finals stats that do not change.

good call.

Hawthorn serged home because they kept shelling the ball inside 50 from the centre and locked it in systematically to give themselves enough shots at it/exhaust the weary cats.

Freo were able to put such crazy pressure on sydney because they kept winning centre clearances and getting it inside 50 where they could set up their manic pressure. The swans were forced to play the second quarter starting from defence against an organized outfit.

You can only win a footy game if you can win the ball. All these teams have good things about them with the ball but the ones that have gotten in at the right times have had the best chances to win.

Sounds simplified but i think it's very true.
