If Markov isn’t in I think Nick D would have to go back. Having that initial run off half back is how we generate our chain of forward ball movement.
That’s the selection dilemma I see. I think Nick will play at hb in finals, I think he can play to his strengths there . So who goes out for him there. Markov might be unlucky

Genuine question - why to you consider Lipinski more worthy of retention than WHE?

It's probably line ball for me to be honest. WHE was dropped and played VFL a few weeks ago so it wouldn't be unprecedented.

I think Lipinski has been quiet outside of his Geelong game which is where we hope he gets to. I gave him lots of leeway when he was coming back from his shoulder given it was an in-season reco.

Could go either way TBH

For me. WHE has more finals experience, and can play more positions if required. Lippas form makes this an easier selection for me.

Sorry to be blunt, but I don’t think this tells us anything. Unfortunately the clearance numbers are meaningless without differentials and the points for and against from clearance would have also added a lot as opposed to overall points for and against.
My post was about simple rankings not being very useful. I even mentioned that clearance differential is a better stat. I think we agree.

Is it just me or does anyone else think that maybe... Just maybe... We are playing funny buggers with Naicos?

The messaging is that he is very unlikely and up against it but nobody has ruled him out definitively.

It's probably unlikely in honesty but if we did think he was a decent chance to play, what interest would it serve us to be truthful? Let Melbourne scramble their plans when teams are announced next Wednesday instead

Don’t worry, Sco knows more than everyone

I think you maybe in the minority.... but i hope you are correct, and that be kind of pretty sweet if so

True. If we are relying on a 20 year old to get us over the line that's not good enough. He should be the cherry on top.
He’s not just any 20 year old is he? AA and third in the coaches vote.
His age is irrelevant.
We are missing a top 5 comp player

Did he run today? I reckon if he was any chance to play on Thursday he'd be running now. And nearly full tilt on Sunday's session to get a full week of full training in.

Can someone set a reminder to make sure I use my Collingwood mug at some point next week?

I need to use it for us to win
You should be drinking scotch out of it, right now!

I like what WHE brings to the team so I wouldn't be too concerned either way. Maybe they both play!
I love the different perspectives and views regarding the delima which is who to omit if and when ND is ready to resume...?

I think WHE, Markov, Noble, Ginni & Lippa are all under consideration. They all bring strengths when they are on and the qn is, who is the biggest liability when they do not perform. Will the heat of the finals expose their weaknesses and they become the liability we do not need. I think the five listed above will all know they MUST perform to keep their spot as the ND comet is fast approaching.

Lippa is the one I'm a bit concerned about if the game is really hot. But have to see who plays well in the first final and who struggles and if we get through it without injury before wondering about who to drop for the second final.

We're all agreed on two of the outs and only have the third to consider, plus sub.

I think it should be Markov out, possibly Lipinski. Pat has the higher potential and believe we like him enough to play him, probably depends how he's travelling.

Another option is Cox out and Howe to play forward. Not convinced we've abandoned Howe as a forward option, but think we're more likely to play the two rucks.

WHE out should not be considered for mine, but see it as an option for selectors. His point of difference over Markov is too strong to play Oleg over him in my view. Feel he's very important.

Even some chance a small forward is omitted. You can have too many in a final and 4 specialists plus Adams is a lot. If we're playing them all they have to get up the ground and impact around the middle. It's with this in mind that omitting Lipinski makes sense.

Sub is likely to come from the forwards if none are omitted. Ginny and Hill preferred for me, Lipinski a possible but unlikely given that run is his greatest asset.

Howe is on the record saying he expects to play in the backline and we can still using him up forward if need be.
Moore, Murphy and Beau are automatic ins, with Fin and Frampton the obvious outs.
We won't be taking on Gawn with just one average ruck. so both Cameron and Cox are safe.
Ginny isn't getting dropped after last week but most likely will be the sub.
WHE, Lippa and Noble have enough credits in the bank to persevere for now.
Therefore the likely third omission is Markov.

WHE I think could be the one at risk given he's now playing off half back, and we have to bring in two defenders.
Thought it was interesting after the game in the rooms that BT spoke to Fly about Ginnivan and Markov’s form and how they are going to be hard to leave out. Fly agreed and the only other player he mentioned was WHE and his versatility. Just think he is the most likely for next week to be out.

Don’t wait for next week! Get that mug out now and use it daily throughout September.
Take a no risk approach please, there’s a flag at stake.

Yeah nick mostly off HB with a few minutes here and there in the midfield but only if we are struggling.

There is absolutely no chance that Collingwood goes into a final against Melbourne with one ruckman; Gawn would tear us apart. Cox is safe. I think Bobby and Ginni are also safe. WHE and Lippa are names that would be in contention. WHE has been pretty good the last few weeks and gives us versatility and gut running. Lippa unlucky, but he goes out of my team. Of course, we could get an injury at training next week, and then the dilemma would be solved.
