You're missing the one-eyed from the start of your name. What a plonker. I know people make jokes about drug use but posts like the one above really make me wonder what you're on.

Interesting how the majority of neutrals on here rate a fit Cats over a fit West Coast. Keep trying to convince us though, it's great to see what credibility you have go down the toilet. :rolleyes:

Did you actually read back through the thread before you posted that? The results are about equal for the neutral supporters on this thread. Which is surprising given that you guys have been easily better than us this year so far. Ah well, unfortunately this matchup won't happen as we won't be fit even if we do make it to the prelim.

I did have a quick glance, I had it at 9 to 8 ;) Since the West Coast v Cats game this year I've been hearing about how great the Eagles are from all and sundry at work and how if they were only fit they would slaughter us, and I'm getting sick of their biased BS. Exagerration is the tool of an insecure mind. Their arguments are similar to some of the posts on here that make me wonder if they've seen a Cats game other than the West Coast one this year. Living in Perth I've seen plenty of the Eagles games, IMO whether they were fit or not they were missing some of their hunger this season.

A excellent recent example of West Coasts Midfield slaughtering Geelong's

Geelong Cats 5.4 10.7 12.12 16.13 109
West Coast Eagles 1.2 3.3 3.3 5.3 33

JUDD = 20
COUSINS=16
KERR = 13

BARTEL =30
KELLY=26
LING=24

MOONEY=26 :):thumbsu:

Geelongs Midfield has always matched up well against WC.

WCE '06 (and '05) is over-rated. Sure, great tight games in the GFs against Sydney but, let's face it. Teams only get into a 8.11 to 8.10 (or whatever) situation if they are incomplete in the sense that they don't dare open up to attack because it leaves them so exposed on the rebound if the ball turns over etc. So you close the game down and put most resources into trying not to lose. Even Port Adelaide fell for that in the QF - facing an injury-ridden WC, they let WC dictate how the game was played. Motlop excepted, Port took over 3 qtrs to open things up and start to attack (at the point in the last where they had Chad Cornes back patrolling the centre square - using those superb play-reading skills to keep play in front of him, it was over).
This style of play is a goner already; Adelaide can't make it work and Sydney read the tea-leaves when they played Geelong 2/3 way through this H&A season. We can shut you down but you can't stop us scoring.
The result to the question that started the thread; Geelong by 6-8 goals without too much of a challenge. Big games between top sides are not won by the team that matches up the best at the top of the list (although that's important). Look at the match-ups between the respective sides' 17th to 22nd players (the bottom six).
In the fundamentals, Hansen is WC's best attack weapon because he allows their back half to bring the ball forward quickly and directly, but Egan was born to take the Hansen-type apart: evidence - his game on Pavlich, and Hansen ain't Pavlich. Lynch may be proving better than I thought (he's learnt to kick a bit straighter) but he still doesn't hurt sides enough for his size, and getting it as often and as far forward as he does. MS or TH to towell him.

My threads really kicked off haha. Some great head to head stuff. On a fast track in september with lot's of room to run, I don't know if the cats would have the engines. The eagles boys are just elite runners and grind teams into the dirt. Cousins, Judd, Kerr would all have Bartel and Corey done for pace and endurance, Gablett has improved alot. Would seriously be a fascinating midfield dual. :thumbsu:

See post #181 aswell as researching recent games Between these teams. :thumbsu:

Joel Corey got 36. :thumbsu::)

You won by 2 points.

The point I'm arguing is that West Coasts midfield would not destroy Geelong's Midfield. And it hasn't. Both have come out fairly even. Although when we beat you we generally slaughter you and when you beat us it's generally a low scoring scrap. :thumbsu:

So obviously the midfield inst as effective :D
lol just kidding mate - We are downright shit no matter how good we are when we are at Skilled.... its quite amazing really compared to the rest of the year.
Geelong are more of a modern day bogey team... either lose by a lot or win by a little... like Port but at least with you guys we have a better history :thumbsu:

Just beat Collingwood....please.

For the safety of me and my brother on the way and during the game, injured WC.
lol I don't know there have been a few scum Eagles fans this year.... although we ARE comparing them to the almighty Magpies :p

Yes eagles win one close grand final and we think they are gods (sarcasm)

Geelong have one good season (haven't won the GF yet) when the top competition of the last few years has been screwed with injuries all season (eagles, sydney, adelaide) and they say they are the best team in a long while.

At least the eagles fans waited to win a grand final before they jumped the gun, the same can't be said about geelong fans.

Wouldn't this be a cracker of a game at the MCG? Shattered it's not gonna happen and hopefully it will occur in the future. I'm talking about a 100% fit Judd, Kerr, Cousins, Embley, Cox taking on Bartel, Corey, Ablett Enright, Selwood etc. Who would you back in this match? Would be extremely fast paced and exciting. I'd probly back in WCE, just. Thoughts?

Hope geelong go down. Can't stand the arrogant self-loving idiots, especially the way the prance around pumping the air like show ponies.

systematic anti-WC response : Just like the Eagles of 06 :rolleyes:

Cousins is done and dusted, Ablett this year has been as good as any of Judds best years, and Kerr can't handle a hard tag. Bartel-like Ablett just can't be tagged and break's it easily each time.
And the fact you think your defence is better is an absolute joke. West Coast could only dream of having the creative drive our defence has.
Hang on wasn't this the year the eagles Dynasty began.:D

Gellong wouldn't stand a chance if they had there 3 best midfielders out (as is the case with the Eagles) and played Hawthorn this year. No Bartel, No G. Ablett and No Corey. No chance.

If your 3 best midfielders had missed the football Judd, Kerr and Cousins missed would Geelong finished 3rd??
