Scotty is away down south and asked me to give the heads up that the home of chair throwing, will not be open this Sunday for the game.

This is a shame, as last week, a childrens blackboard was thrown over, thongs hurled at the screen and a table upturned....and this was before half time!

The non availability is due to a Greek day of remembrance (Greek easter maybe?).

For the uninitiated, Floreat Athena is a predominantly Greek soccer club where WA members and supporters watch the games.

Pass the word around, if there is some interest, myself and a mate will probably watch it at a pub somewhere. Maybe The Oxford in Leederville or The Paddo in Mt Hawthorne.

Post on here or PM me if there is any interest.

I must say this is a Greek tragedy.
Sadly it is true, Greek Easter means the club will not be open.
Unfortunately, I had already sent out the email for Sunday and was already down south when Bandido Manuel rang with the bad news.

Hey Scotty, let's get it right, it's not Greek Easter. It's Orthodox-Christian Easter.

Pedants Corner - It's Greek Easter, as the Greeks gave all the other Orthodox denominations their religion. ;)

Heh, Nah... ;)

BTW, do you know that the Greek Orthodox celebrate Christmas with the Catholics? While the real Orthodox Christmas is two weeks after the Catholic one?

That is correct, the greeks did celebrate under the old calendar but changed to the western christian date, although Epiphany (Day of Lights)is the 6th Jan, which is Chrismas Day under the Julian Calendar. Christmas however is far less important to the orthodox religion than Easter, so the change was a minor one.
