I'm re watching the Giants final. At the time I lost the plot because of our inaccuracy and I'm feeling the frustration again. 4 - 10 atm and some of those behind should have been basic for our forwards. Gws have same number of shots but are 7 -7.

I hope we leave that accuracy in 2024.

Glad I know the final score.

GWS finished the H&A around 12th on the expected score ladder and us first.

Also, Kai becoming a media darling for Fox.
He and Dwayne Russell have built quite a rapport. He's done a couple of interviews on his radio show and seems very engaging. I reckon he's the only male footballer (maybe the only sportsman) I've ever heard who asks the host in return for their opinion after he's answered a question. Just a small touch but I liked it. Seemed like he was up for the chat as opposed to just fulfilling his obligations.

Maybe I am in the minority but I don't mind Dermie that much and prefer him by the length of the straight over BT, Brayshaw
Same. Dermie waffles a fair bit, but he often shares an unusual, random yet on point thought.

Its got to be disheartening for the Gold Coast Suns players, every time they kick a goal the ground announcer
has to shout "MAKE SOME NOISE":tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy::tearsofjoy:
Some years back I went to a basketball game between Newcastle and Manchester. Every time the home team had a free throw it was silence whereas when the away team had a free throw the announcer was like "be loud, be proud, make some noise!" and playing klaxons because the crowd apparently wasn't enough.

Put me right off. Wound up mostly supporting the away team by the end, just out of a general sense of fairness (even though no doubt Manchester do much the same at their home games).

I've often thought there's an argument at the Gabba for us being a bit quieter when we have a stoppage in our forward line, and making a heck of a racket when there's a stoppage in our defence. Make it easier for our forwards to hear the calls of their team mates, and the opposite down the other end.

But usually it's the reverse 😂🤦

I've borrowed this point of view from NFL announcers, who make a point of asking their fans to be church-silent when their team has the ball, but making as much noise as they can then they opponents have it. Particularly on 3rd downs.

It seems counterintuitive but I think it has a lot of merit in modern sport, which is more practised and strategised than ever before.

Just finished the gws final.

Kingsley was impressive in the last few minutes .... for us. He came down to the side line and was yelling and waving his arms to his players, as was the gws runner who was standing next to him. And there were a shots of his players raising their and and saying what.

It really looked like he was making up tactics for this close game on the run and the players were confused trying to work out what he wanted. They probably had tactics for this situation they had trained, so maybe the stress got to the coach.

The cut away was to fagan chomping on his gum just watching. Trusting his players to work it out.

Onto the Geelong game.

Robert Walls was a master of “what do you think?” Reply. I used it in an interview once after seeing Walls use it a couple of times. The guy interviewing me loved to hear his own voice. Talked for 15 minutes. Got the job, must have thought I was a very good listener.

Thanks to Robert Walls!

This article has Lions at 2 but a few strange picks in my opinion.
Once again i will be happy if we make the top 4 if not then the bottom 4 of the 8.

Second – Brisbane

They kept Carlton scoreless for an hour. They were 44 points down against GWS and still won. They prevailed in one of the best preliminary finals ever played. A week later, they annihilated the glamour team, the top team, the favourites on the biggest stage. Now they welcome a player who many consider the best player in a crack draft and slowly get back several key players felled by anterior cruciate ligament tears.

But Joe Daniher is kicking back in the Byron Bay hinterlands and leaves an enormous hole in the forward line. The football world only properly appreciated him right at the end. He’d kicked 61 and 58 goals in his final two seasons, took the best defender every week and always played well when it mattered.

The Lions have been up and contending for a long time now, and the competition has a recent history of going to school and grinding down teams like that. The past two premiers before them missed the finals the following year, a reminder of how hard it is to keep backing up. But I’m sure the Lions have the depth and class to challenge again.

"The Lions have won it from fifth, but can they win it from top 2 or 4?" - David King, probably.

Pies first made me lol.

I worry that everyone who is putting us high up on the list is underrating not just how good Joe Daniher is/was but how important to our structure and gameplan he was.
Plus the 60 goals we have to find.

I guess we'll see. It's the one question mark over 2025 provided our motivation remains high.

60 goals, obviously hard to replace but I feel that is the easier part of the problem we face, which is in itself saying something. When Hawthorn lost Buddy they went pretty well for the next few seasons. With an improving Morris, Kai, Ah Chee, Linc making his way back, we could find those 60 goals.

As you said we will see this season.
Our hope is that Hippy can step up his output and push his goal output to roughly 2 goals per game or 50+ a season, which isn't IMO out of the realms of possibilities.
Morris steps up again this season and kicks 35-40 goals

I just hate the idea of having another Gunston type situation in the forwardline because we need someone who can pinch hit in the ruck.

Champions love a challenge, and we have a lot of champions.
