I can believe this; as a regular drive from Sunshine Coast to Brisbane, it really is a shit show most of the time particularly on weekends in the wet coming to watch the Lions. Cant speak for other areas but regularly here how bad Brisbane traffic is from family and friends in other parts of the city

Glad I work from home now. I always found getting to work was mostly OK, but getting home in a reasonable time was a lottery. One incident at Greenslopes puts the city and southside in chaos.

I call 🐂💩. I would need to see the list, but from my limited experience, Ho Chi Minh, Hanoi, Bangkok, Jakarta, Paris and London are all significantly worse. Along with the larger USA cities.

I would imagine quite a few cities in India and China are worse.

However, the one mitigating circumstance for many south East Asian cities is that, unless you have to travel for work, almost everything is available within one or two blocks of home, or within the local district.

They couldn't have been using the Briztoon Index.

Ho Chi Minh has 8 million people living in a city, the quarter of the size of Brisbane, by area.

If you expanded out to the merging districts for an equal area of Brisbane, there are 16 million people.

It’s literally 10km from my family’s home in Thu Duc to District 1, and it’s near enough a 1hour Grab (uber) ride or an hour++ bus ride.

And they’re building the new international airport out at Long Thanh. Great for us, but that’s going to be close to a 2 hour ride from the airport to the tourist district in District 1.

Looking at Round 11, both Brisbane and GWS are playing in Melbourne on the Saturday afternoon.

Is it feasible to see a 1:20pm game at Marvel and then a 4:15pm game at the MCG? I'm guessing I'd be missing the end of the first game or the start of the second one way or the other?

In 2022 a couple of friends and I went to the 1:45 Carlton v Fremantle match, followed by the (epic) Geelong v Richmond 4:35 game at the MCG.

One of my mates who is a Cats fan left Docklands early in the last quarter to make sure he got to the MCG on time. The rest of us waited till basically time on of the last quarter before leaving.

If I recall correctly we got a train to the G (can't remember whether we got off at Jolimont or Richmond), and when we arrived Geelong had kicked the first two goals. According to the timeline on the AFL website these both occurred inside the first 4 minutes of the match, so we didn't do too badly.

And we'd had a few by that point too 😅

You have an extra 5 minutes between games this year so you should be alright. Recommend keeping your wits about you and be willing to miss the end of the first game, or the start of the second if the first one is close.

Perfect scenario you can probably get between the two grounds in about 20 mins (walk to Southern Cross train to Jolimont and then walk to the ground - I think thats the fastest option over tram or other train routes). But that's not taking into account where your seats are or getting in and out of the stadium.

Reality is you'll probably have to miss the start or end of one of the games

Thanks, it's good to have first hand confirmation of what I'd expect.

Round 21 is another option but a) it doesn't have a schedule yet, so could be worse? b) it's Lions against the Pies and GWS against the Dogs, both of which are some pretty rival-ish matchups but I suspect tickets will be more difficult to get than GWS v Carlton and us v Hawthorn?

I'd be surprised if any of those games sold out to be honest. I guess your best bet is tickets at the southern end (behind the goals) at Docklands and on the northern (Olympic stand) side at the G.
