Footy players punch up bombshell

Any surprise Voss is involved. Obvious culture problem there from the Brisbane days where Robert Walls thought it acceptable to put a member of the team in a circle and have his players take turns into beating the crap out of him.

Then you have Leigh Matthews to this day the only man to be de-registered as a footballer for gutlessly belting a player off the ball and breaking his jaw in 2 places.

Now you have Voss and his antics. I'd hate to think what sort of coaching practices Voss will take with him to his new club given the coaches he has learnt off.
Pitiful effort really after being embarrassed last night.

You had 24 hours to come up with something decent, and this is your best shot.

Even George Costanza came up with a better comeback.

Re: Voss' Coaching Stocks - Intact

Just by your description of the event tells me you must have been watching something totally different. How could defending your mate after a billard ball was thrown at him, be "thuggish" behaviour. Also, do people actually know the definition of a king-hit?

Let's not pretend you have no axe to grind against Voss, or anything to do with the Lions.

Go the Broncs!

What description? You are paranoid.

By contrast, I assume you are claiming yourself as an unbiased observer of this incident?

'Defending your mate' would usually involve acting to protect the welfare of the 'mate' in the moments directly after the incident (i.e in the pub) - not punching a bloke in the head outside the establishment in which the 'incident' took place.

Voss is a thug, Gehrig is a thug.

The guy who threw the ball got bashed instantly, Voss hit him later when nothing was happening. Hardly self defence.

What ever team he coaches next year won't be soft thats for sure. ;)
I'd expect his team to look out each other just like he did.

To quote the simpsons "dig up stupid!" You were owned so easily last night don't start this again....no matter what your opinion of what Voss did is - you can not describe it as antics - with Voss it is "antic"(so not a word but suits).

so is it ok for a woman to attack a man and he does defend himself? Or he can push her over not hurting her but sending a message that I will defend myself.

afraid of being attacked by a group of angry women? ever been in that situation? gerhig clearly wasnt, shed have as much chance getting past him or hurting him as she would of randomly doing a triple somersalt. Men should never push women(or men for that matter!), or even be prepared to do anything whatsoever unless the woman is a danger to herself and the rest of society.(ie. trying to kill/maim with a machine gun)

even then if it is only an individual and not an organised group we should try to minimise the force to a level necessary only to restrain. random violence such as that which gherig initiated was unacceptable, and sadly is a reflection of the way women are being treated in our society at this time. Gherig NEEDS to be taught a lesson for what he did.

Obviously I'm a huge fan of Michael Voss......what I saw tonight on ch9 news unfortunately did not look good......BUT, I will wait until we hear ALL the facts to come out in due course.......Michael Voss and Simon Black are NOT the types to just go around punching people willy nilly......of that I'm sure!

I had a feminist in one of my political science tutorials who said that the "never hit a woman" idea helps to reinforce a patriarchal society.

I lol'ed.

when domestic violence towards women has reached a high level, as it has in our society, the reinforcement of this value is an absolute necessity.

Very important point raised... If ANYONE is intruding your space then you have a right to defend yourself, even if it is a woman. She loses her rights as soon as she decides to intrude your space.

geez i wouldnt want to accidentally bump into you on the train. Instead of responding in a polite manner, as a normal human being would, youd push me for infringing your "space".

you sir are a danger to society, maybe a bubble boy setup will solve your problems??

You're a ****ing idiot like your friend froggy.

Calm down.

He is merely saying that societal expectation that women should not be subjected to violence relies on a certain expectation of conduct on the womans part as well.

I'm sure we've all seen incidents at clubs where a guy is getting the shit kicked out of him by his gf, scratched, slapped... hair pulled and he is just cowering because their is no socially acceptable recourse for him other than standing there being humiliated. It's not an ideal situation.

The person you have just called a '****ing idiot' was not condoning Gehrig's behavior and nor am I, and considering you are trying to pain yourself as someone with strong morals and values... you probably should retract it.

And if some person without basic comprehension skills dares to spin this as me condoning violence against women, I'll report your post as defamatory.

Tell that to the Feminazis!

Not the smartest kid are you...
Use your brain and you might get a better understanding of what it is I am saying. I will rephrase it for you. If ANYONE decides to assault you and invade your personal space, then you have a right to defend yourself. I'm not saying Gehrig had a right to do what he did, I haven't seen it, but the topic of touching women came up and that's my stance on the issue. I should also mention that if you are unfortunate enough to be in a position where a woman is assaulting you, then make sure there are witnesses, otherwise you will be the one getting ****ed over.

Just saw the footage here in Perth - yikes

Voss probably will end up as a coach, but he'd better forget any ideas about jumping straight into a senior spot and instead serve his time as an assistant for a few years until the powers-that-be forget about this
