No probs at all
I know what your saying, you'd be forgiven for thinking he doesn't play for Hawthorn reading some of the crap here!
As soon as he signs with us (hope) watch the "man love " return in waves!

I doubt it was any different for Cloke, etc.

We're all loyal to our club so expect players to be as well, even though their situation is very different.

If we win the flag, I bet he stays.

The difference with the Hawks supporters and Buddy is that we haven't turned on him during a game. I haven't witnessed anything at a game yet to suggest that the fans are turning on him. I remember a few games there with Cloke and the feral Pies supporters really did turn on him. I'm personally no more or less frustrated with Buddy this year. He has shown he can still do those "wow" things and also that he can drive you to the brink. I still love him and I am still confident he will stay.

Interesting article in The Age today where clown Sheedy says they will only trade pick one for a star (read top 5 player at the team). http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/well-only-trade-for-a-star-sheedy-20130710-2pqn7.html

None of that is really news except for the fact that these stories coming out makes me feel as though the AFL in consultation with GWS are laying the groundwork for a possible Buddy trade rather than free agency plunder.

Still very 'conspiracy theory' but gotta do something on a Thursday morning...

If we're going to lose Buddy, I'd rather lose him for Pick 1 and a young midfielder than for pick 20-ish

You can't be serious Dragz, Don't be ridiculous:D

I don't see it that way. The AFL must be concerned that GWS has not won a game yet this year. Their 12k fans will only tolerate complete failure for so long.

The AFL will be very much wanting GWS to get Buddy for free and get another quality player(s) as well.

I'd expect Demetriou would think if the Club can also snare another player, even via a trade, it will dilute the 'Buddy for nothing' noise.

Throw Buddy and someone like Joey Kennedy into that team, and they'll start looking a lot more competitive next year.

I doubt we'll get Pick 1 and a Young Midfielder for Buddy, especially as theres a number of ways they could probably get him*. I think Pick 1 is as high as we could ever dream to receive by way of compensation.

*Should he want to leave & I'm not convinced that he does.

haven't gone through the 133 pages of comments, so maybe this has been asked before, but is there any scope for buddy signing with hawthorn, and hawthorn doing something with his fashion label afterwards? stocking it on the website, in their shops and the brand getting a bigger slice of the cut than they would in the retail market?

would that still be considered 3rd party deal?

not sure why you would want a popular clothing brand in a footy club shop, it's doing fine anyway, just expanded to the UK and i think Germany.

the best part of this scenario panning out is that Carlton won't get their grubby claws over Boyd and they will sink into oblivion along with MM.

Giants may use No.1 draft pick in Buddy trade

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-07-11/no1-trade-for-buddy

Kind of vague article but seems the AFL might be looking to soften the blow and give us a fairer deal.

Anyone reckon there could be a chance they want more than just Buddy from us? I could see them wanting someone like Birchall or Stratton for example.

A trade could end up being something like Buddy and another one of our young stars for pick #1 and 1-2 young mids and probably some swap of later picks or something.
