Excerpt regarding Buddy from Sam Mitchell's interview this morning ....

"But it's not taboo, we talk to him about it and heckle him about it and he tells us to push off. It's still just a footy club at the end of the day.

You're signing guernseys with No.23 on the back and you're having a joke with the kids about what they're going to do (if he leaves)"

Ahhh the old guilt trip. Well played Sammy, well played!

One thing that I do find puzzling about the Buddy to GWS saga is Greater Western Sydneys need for Buddy.

They already have a huge star forward in the making (if he isn't already) in Jeremy Cameron, they have Jonathan Patton who showed glimpses of why he was a number 1 pick before his injury. Add in all likely hood the number 1 pick in this years draft which the general consensus would be another tall forward in Tom Boyd. This is a fairly potent forward line even without Buddy.

Surely the signing of Buddy would put the development and futures of those players in question?

If I was a GWS supporter my top priority would be signing Cameron and adding key defenders before Buddy.

It feels as GWS interest has a lot to do with Kevin Sheedy. He has been known to make outlandish statements and is a public relation master. I'm hoping his looming exit may cool GWS interest or is another p r stunt by Sheedy.....

I agree with your comments about Kevin Sheedy. I also wonder about the smarts of getting Buddy to GWS.

It in my humble opinion he may be an unsettling influence on the playing group and and have an opposite effect. I mean that in a football sense.

Also as time passes and GWS come to the reality of looking after themselves, and not being nursed by the AFL , it might be wiser for them to actually get a good contractual hold on some of their young guns.

Sheedy is simply a stirrer and sometimes he stirs too much.

Because you can bet other clubs will be looking to grab them.

A "you did it to us, we'll do it to you" scenario.

*SIGH* My Toy Boy..:hearts: You can have Shady, Grizz..:DI will have George..:hearts:

I dont know anymore?? What ever happens, happens. But if Bud wants to go to GWS and play in a team that gets absolutely flogged every week, in front of 5000 people, then good luck to him. As we saw on the weekend we will be perfectly ok without Bud in our side.
Perfectly OK with or without?

You do realise that we beat Port Adelaide? Not exactly a juggernaut.

Just an observation for all those out there that were lulled into thinking we played so well without Buddy last year when he did his hammy. He went off early last year against GWS and we whooped them. Gee wouldn't have done that if Bud stayed on the field. In the next 5 or 6 games we played the Dogs, Suns a badly faltering Essendon and PA, we would have whooped these sides with Buddy! We alao had a loss to Geelong in that time. He came back in against Sydney the following week and was instrumental in our win.

We need a thread for those who only wish to post positives about Buddy and the contract situation. Why do people forget so quickly?

WE NEED BUDDY!

The club can and will survive without him (i.e. we don't NEED buddy), but you're absolutely kidding yourself if you think Hawthorn are better off with Lance Franklin playing for another club.

Hopefully he signs the revised contract offer, and performs to the level that warrants that kind of offer.

Don't worry mate, when Bud re-signs with us, everyone here will say "I knew he couldn't leave", and the man-love will resume

Why settle for George when you can have this man... and his two identical brothers as well.

My god, that picture actually makes me want to throw up... everything about him is just wrong; and the middle one is clearly his constipated face for thinking how to further buoy expansion teams

He does look content, sated even. Like his hand-picked team of fart-catching Eunichs have just finished spoon-feeding him 5 kilos of Burger Rings.

Let's make Saturday 3 August at the MCG - "Please stay Buddy day" Deck the G out in number 23's and Buddy banners and show him how much he means to the supporters (especially all the kids with 23's on their jumpers)
I'll be flying to Melbourne just to watch this match so MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Then give him the big finger the year after

The "rules" are made up and change constantly....if u agree that pick 20 is an injustice, then you should demand a fair outcome for your club. That's my opinion, i would suggest its the opinion of many members and even the general football fans.

Your entitled to your opinion, and yes hopefully he will stay which will mean all these scenarios are not relevant

Honestly Hawthorn doesn't kick enough of a stink in order to get anything more than pick 20.

Like I have said before, if this was Collingwood, even the mere mention of the ambassadorial money would unleash all hell and fury.

It's grossly unfair but Hawthorn over the last three decades has a history of not caring or just giving up when things are against them.
